Ford going ahead with plans for Mexico plants.

Recommended Posts

When Trump complains Ford should tell him they'll move their plants back to the US when he stops making his sh1tty clothes in China.

Some people hate Trump so much they see this as good news. Sad.

Same thing happened under Obama. Repubs furiously jerking off every time something didn't go well.

It's actually has nothing to do with that... It's sad that some don't see the hypocrisy involved in those who jumped and down, danced in the streets over Ford initially cancelling plans with Mexico plants shortly after meeting with Trump.. Then it was a big deal and victory for America.. Now that Ford has given Trump the middle finger and going ahead with plants - it's somehow good news.

The hardcore rights of this bored like to have it both ways. They did that for 8 straight years.

If you've noticed, they've conveniently avoided this topic - but I'll be damn if they aren't all over celebrating the passage for dirty water in the coal mining industry.. I give Timmy and Luckman props, they at least showed up in this one.

I read these Mexican imports are gonna be quite roomy. Some of them will seat up to 12 people, and that's just the trunk.

Honestly, this is a bit of a relief for me...There has been so much winning lately, that I've gotten sick of all the winning, happy for the break.

AFAIK Ford never promised not to have ANY plants in Mexico. They certainly stopped construction on one and unless they start up again this really doesn't change anything.

Trump gets credit for the good things that happen but the rest aren't his fault.

This is my shocked face.

Then what was all the hoopla and Trump chest-bumping over Ford saying they were canceling plants in Mexico - fake celebration? :dunno:

In fact, you were rather leading the charge - making sure Trump got the credit for Ford scrapping those Mexico plants, remember? ..... So you were celebrating the Prez for convincing Ford not to build in Mexico and keeping jobs in America - now you're saying Ford never had plans to build plants in Mexico.... Uh, what?

They did cancel that plant, and that hasn't changed.

:dunno:

So - now it's a by plant basis thing? Never mind Ford is still moving forward with building plants and sending jobs to Mexico - Trump wins bcoz he got Ford to scratch THAT plant....?

I have to admit - that's above my pay grade, gonna need some kind of Rocket Scientist to explain the net gain to me here.

I enjoyed my time in Cancun. There were no casinos when I was there, thats my only complaint. Except they stole my wallet out of my room on the last day. Left my passport though.

Yeah, what?

Well - I just mean you seemed to be one of the ones who celebrated Trump for talking Ford into building and investing here - scratching the Mexico stuff. Something I believe you said the Libs would never give him credit for - more of his MAGA campaign... But it now seems like the entire premise of Trump's agenda, to keep jobs in America, was nothing more than a smoke screen. Ford basically gave Trump and his agenda the middle finger and nobody on the Right seems to care - in fact some are spinning it as a good thing.... Good for Ford I guess.

Agreed.. Which is why I said - I wasn't aware the celebrations were a "by plant" basis.. The celebrating in the streets said nothing about "that plant" - the celebrations were for Trump keeping jobs in America and MAGA, as a entire platform.

I like how the forearm Republicans never cared about offshoring and were all free market right up until Trump won the nomination. Now all of a sudden they're economic populists.

So he has to keep ALL jobs in America, keeping some is not a success?

No that's silly.. But it would be nice to see some backlash over things like this.. I mean it's front page news when Trump saves a couple hundred coal miner jobs, but when thousands of jobs and billions of dollars get shipped over the border, snuck in thru back door - the MAGA and Keeping Jobs in America celebrators pretend like it didn't happen.

They were already doing it. Those of us who were happy at the initial announcement were happy because it will keep a lot of jobs in Detroit. Ford, nor Trump, ever said they weren't going to be doing any business in Mexico. So there's nothing to be outraged about.

Not from the Trump soldiers - not a peep... But hey, I'm just going by what I was told - by Trump and his people... I specifically recall the Prez saying, "Companies are not going to leave the United States, anymore, w/out consequences - not going to happen." ............... Any word on what consequences Ford will face?

So, your contention is that the only backlash towards Trump has been from the left?

I'd say most of it - certainly about 97% of it on this board has been.

Like said - when Trump saves a couple hundred coal miner or a 1000 Carrier jobs, it's headline news. The soldiers are dancing in the street screaming, "See, Trump MAGA already!" When a company announces they are sending jobs and plants to Mexico, going directly against his campaign platform - it's not... And we're not talking about some dinky ass 50 employee, necktie making company - we're talking about a top 10, Fortune 500 giant. A giant who's sending $2.5B and 3800 jobs south of the border.... I really do wonder what the consequences will be to Ford for making this move.
