Recommended Posts

every time i drive my car there is a burning plastic smell.

it's a 2007 honda civic and i just got a 30,000 mi thing done to it in january so it should still be in good shape.

i currently have 32,000 miles on it.

why do you think it smells like burning plastic, especially in the car whenever i drive?

I noticed the same thing in my 2007-honda-civic coup. It turned out to be plastic burning. :shocking:

Omg, you sir are out of line!

peenie I'd check under the hood. Chances are rubber hose you use for siphoning gas came loose in there when you hid it. It prolly got caught up in the serpentine belt or stuck on the manifold.

i called the honda service department and the guy said that i may have a plastic bag caught up inside the car and it may have melted.

he said not to bring it in until i've look thoroughly through the car.

he said the plastic bag could've melted everywhere.

There might be a magnum stuck in the tail pipe of your Honda. :shocking:

Sounds like your car has a sticking Variable Overhead Lubricating Valve (VOL-Va).

If you tell your mechanic your VOL-Va needs lubricating he should know what to do.

Look underneath around the exhaust pipe. I ran over a plastic bag once, and it stuck. Smelled like burning plastic after a long drive for like 2 years.
