listen2me 23 1,542 Posted October 18, 2017 How do you go about it? I dont very often. So I go over to my Grampa's and he shows me that he cleaned his grill and sprayed grill paint on the slightly rusting hot plates that go over the flame in a gas grill. I ask him why on earth would he fo that? He said relax its made for 1200 degrees. I told him that I dont think it is supposed to go inside the grill. It was some rustolium stuff, he had already threw out the can. To me that seems wrong and or just gross. He is the classic old over cleaner. I told him dont ise it yet. Perhaps I should bot worry since he is 85 but gets around like he is 55. Plenty of bleach running through his viens. I have never heard of anyone painting their grill let alone inside it. I asked him why he didnt just sand the forming rust off. He didnt know. No big deal? Heat it up and wash it with water? Or dispose of grill?
Djgb13 2,338 Posted October 18, 2017 I use the grill brush to brush off a lot of the charred bits and stuff on the grate. Other than that no I don't mess with it
TommyGavin 788 Posted October 19, 2017 Special potion. Cup of Dawn dish soap Heat up a cup of vinegar Mix the hot liquid with soap. Add to spray bottle. Shake. Spray BBQ in/out/grills and let sit 24 hours. Next day wipe it down with multiple wet rags. Gunk just slides off.

5-Points 2,729 Posted October 19, 2017 Half the enjoyment of firing up the grill is smelling what I last cooked "burn off" while the grill heats up. Then come in with a brush, while the grill is hot, and scrape off the rest before putting on whatever I'm cooking that day. I clean the outside as needed. Cruzer 1,992 Posted October 19, 2017 Give it a major spring cleaning every March. * Form a baking soda/lemon juice paste, cover and let it sit... Scrub and wash clean. * Will follow up with Dawn and SOS pads. * Will foil the bottom surface.
wiffleball 4,640 Posted October 19, 2017 Bier and I both rub our grill grates and our naughty bits with Truffle Oil. After that, cleaning our grills is no truffle at all. That's just a little chef humor.
vuduchile 1,941 Posted October 19, 2017 Spring cleaning and periodic emptying of the drip pan. Other than that, there's no need when you heat it up to 500+ and wire brush the grates.
