murf74 461 Posted November 7, 2007 When you get crushed as bad as they did on national TV....how do you come out bragging? http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburgh...s/s_536614.html Here are some interesting quotes: Defensive end Trevor Pryce finally turned toward the showers and said, to no one in particular, "Willie (expletive) Parker. What a fraud." scoreboard "When you give somebody that many opportunities, anybody can make a play," linebacker Ray Lewis said, referring to his team's four first-half turnovers. "Now, come see us in Baltimore." even average defenses will hold a team to a field goal every now and then Pryce called Roethlisberger's precision passes "luck" and said, "Whatever their game plan was, it didn't work." ummmm, OK Pryce said, "when a little 5-9 linebacker (Harrison actually is listed at 6 feet) gets four sacks. That will never happen again in his life. He knows that." well that little linebacker sure didn't have a problem with your mammoth hall of fame tackle Harrison didn't seem overly pleased when that quote was relayed to him. "Who is Trevor Pryce?" he said. Reporter: "A defensive end for the Ravens." Harrison: "He's entitled to his opinion. ... What did he do?" Well, besides ring up zero tackles, Pryce failed to wrap up Roethlisberger on one of those lucky touchdown passes. Classic....who is Trevor Pryce and what did he do Then you have a linebacker crying about Ward's legit blocking during run plays... That said, Scott was livid with Hines Ward, who laid out Scott and Reed with mammoth hits. "He was being who he is, taking his shots," Scott said. "Next time it happens, I'll find him and make sure I take the most violent shot I can take. We'll see them again, and I'll play violent. I'll play all the way to the edges of the rules." nice to see a linebacker who is gonna man up and take on a wide receiver
TomServo 0 Posted November 7, 2007 I agree with most of this post, but dude, the Hines Ward block on Ed Reed that put him down was absolutely NOT legal. Hines speared Reed with the crown of his helmet in the chest, and if he were Rodney Harrison, he'd be paying a big fine for it this week. Everybody (except Steeler fans) accepts that Hines Ward is one of the dirtiest players in the game. He gets plenty of respect for the good aspects of his game, just like Rodney Harrison, so just deal with reality. Plus, he's really, really, ugly. He looks like Hedwig's cross-dressing "girlfriend" in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch." Tell me this isn't Hines: Hines Ward - A Woman in Drag!
lowman 4 Posted November 7, 2007 Judging how they never put in more defensive backs, I think from what their head coach did and what T.Pryce said. I think they thought the goal was to shut down a teams running game. Someone needs to inform them that it still counts when a team's WR crosses the goalline. Not just that they really got ###### slapped.

Busted by the Feds 9 Posted November 7, 2007 Set your Tivos when the get demolished by the Pats. You'll have several juicy quotes then too. What excuse will they give when Brady is hitting them for 60 yd. gains and scoring from the Pats end of the field ?
frank 2,276 Posted November 7, 2007 Maybe the Ravens will play P. Crayton and the Cowboys in the Super Bowl. Whoever said Hines led with his head: He hit him with his shoulder. If that was head first, Ward would be dead now.
redtodd 7 Posted November 7, 2007 I can't stand the Ravens defense. They are the worst at over celebrating after every routine tackle. Suggs stopped Parker in the 1st series, then turned to the Steelers bench and pounded his chest. Soemone on the Ravens D did the EXACT same thing later when it was 21-0. craphouse rats 0 Posted November 7, 2007 Ravens are the biggest collection of thugs ever assembled on an NFL team. For some reason I hate the ever living sh$t out of that team. They are a bunch of poosay ass crying sore loosers. I'm not even a Steelers fan and I was laughing at the Ravens on Monday night. Oh well at least they have the offensive genius Billick as their coach

treat88 0 Posted November 7, 2007 The Ravens have never been more than a bunch of ghetto trash masquerading as a football team. Classless, ignorant, over the hill thugs. redtodd 7 Posted November 7, 2007 I saw that. I couldn't believe some idiot was pounding his chest after making a tackle when they were down 3 or 4 TD's. Unfortunately, this is turning into the norm in the league. It just seems like the Ravens are the worst at it. The Bengals are pretty bad at the over celebrating on defense also and they suck on defense. When they faced the Patriots, one of the nickel CB's was doing the double pointing of his thumbs at his name on his back after the 2nd play of the of game. They then got blown out. This post has nothing to do with Hines Ward and one missed call. It is about the Ravens sub-par defense not realizing that they have lost a step or two and still acting as if the are the D the past few years. Ray take some notes from the Steelers, get a few sacks, cause turnovers, and you guys will have a small chance of finishing the season .500.

jgcrawfish 232 Posted November 7, 2007 ummm care to elaborate? I'm thinking he's saying the same thing I was thinking...that you are usually not one to praise the Steelers, for anything, usually reserver quite a bit of venom for them. FWIW, on that video, we are all a bit mistaken about Hines hit on Reed. Yes, there is some helmet, and shoulder, and lots of forearm. However, it was pointed out several times yesterday that Hines was motioning to the Baltimore sideline about Reed being down. Uh, no, notsomuch. He was actually motioning, with a smile on his face, to the Steelers sideline about the hit.

I was watching NFL Replay last night - it was a replay of the Vikings/Chargers game. Early in the first, AP ran for a minimal gain and a Charger defender jawed with him all the back to the huddle. I would kill to find out what he said to AP. I'm hoping that "I'll be here all day" came out at one point.

He blocks like a WR is supposed to and he plays the game hard. He is NOT a dirty player. Has the league handed down a fine to him? Because in this day and age when goodall is putting the smack down on anything illegal a hit like that on monday night football would be quick to get a fine if it were deemed not legal. And turn the tables, say Baltimore gets an INT downfield - you don't think every DB is going to be trying to lay those exact same hits on every offensive player who is now suddenly turned into a defensive player? GhostofMeanMachine99 1 Posted November 7, 2007 Link? It sure looked like the top of his head to me. ETA: Video link. There was more shoulder involved than I originally thought but he does lead with his head. No way. If he his him flush with his head, he'd be dead. Besides, you see the arms extend when he gives him the 2 armed shiver. That was a perfect block. Ward did exactly what you're supposed to: deliver the blunt force to the chest and hit the guy with your head just under the chin, right on the facemask. It's professional football for Christ's sake. Ward did exactly what you're supposed to: deliver the blunt force to the chest and hit the guy with your head just under the chin, right on the facemask. It's professional football for Christ's sake. Exactly.... He didn't lead with the crown of the helmet, which is the very top of his head. He lead with the forehead area, just above the face mask. That is a very basic, fundamental tackling technique, which is to put that part of the helmet right between the opposing player's numbers. That technique is just as effective on offense when blocking downfield at speed. That was a totally clean, legal, and legit block by Hines Ward. Ed Reed got................JACKED UP!!!!
