Obama Snubs Medal of Honor Ball...

Recommended Posts

http://thisainthell.us/blog/?p=7224

According to TSO who was at the “Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball”, this newly sworn-in President for the first time in 56 years blew off the ball (that’s 14 Inaugurations).

Some background on the ball;

The American Legion sponsors the ball, which recognizes recipients of Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military award. It started in 1953 for President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s first inauguration.

Event co-sponsors include 13 other veterans service organizations, among them the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

The Veterans Inaugural Committee, which is comprised of congressionally chartered veterans organizations, hosts a ball to honor Medal of Honor recipients, "heros" all. The 99 living Congressional Medal of Honor recipients were invited and 48 were present.

The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force which can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the Armed Services of the United States. Generally presented to its recipient by the President of the United States of America in the name of Congress, it is often called the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Traditionally, the president and first lady visit as special guests, from time to time accompanied by the vice president and his wife. Members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and leaders of the veterans groups also headline the guest list. This event has been an Inaugural tradition since 1953. This year there were no administration visits. However, LT. General James B. Peake was seated at the head table. General Peake recently served as the Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary under George Bush.

why would it surprise anyone that an anti-military, anti-american socialist would snub the ball honoring american military members? i would think they probably enjoyed it more without him there, and certainly without his anti-american wife.

Pretty much my thoughts as I read this. No surprise at all when you carefully listened to what Obama was saying most of the campaign.

and i'm not even the one who snubbed the very people that gave him, and protect, the right to blaspheme this country. we all realize he's dead set on dismantling the constitution, so he's probably better off distancing himself from the military folks that give their lives to protect it.

Seriously, you don't really believe this. Bush did more to dismantle our civil rights by limiting our 4th Amendment rights with the Patriot Act.

I have not had time to even look through this, but is it possible that he skipped that ball because he had all of those soldiers from Walter Reed at one of his main balls?

yeah, that's unfortunate. i think he should've gone and can't understand what could've happened to prevent him from attending.

however, we don't know all the circumstances and shouldn't judge without all the facts.

Craig Roberts, Media Relations Manager for the American Legion, issued the following statement:

The American Legion, as it has on every inauguration evening since 1953, hosted the Salute to Heroes Inaugural Banquet & Ball on January 20th. The quadrennial event is co-sponsored with fourteen veterans service and military service organizations and honors recipients of the Medal of Honor. Forty-seven of these heroes attended this year’s event which was held in the Renaissance Washington DC Hotel.

President Obama was invited but did not attend. Vice-President Joe Biden did appear, however, and was very warmly received. The new President’s absence was understandable considering the unprecedented logistical challenges presented by the vastly increased number of visitors to this inauguration and the necessary attendant security measures. The American Legion, as an organization, does not feel offended or “snubbed.”

Can't you just admit he has no interest in supporting the military?

I see. So unless a person hasn't directly been affected they can't complain? Did you know the government can take any electronic device from you at an airport and not give it back until they want? Without reasonable cause or probably cause or any kind of cause, they can take your laptop. They don't have to give you a reason. And the law says they can keep it for a reasonable amount of time, which means as long as they want. People have had their laptops kept for months. But unless that happens to me directly, i can't say our rights are being taken away?

And ravens, do you have any evidence that he doesn't support the military? Surely his military voting record is better than mccains which was an F. Or are you basing your opinion solely on the fact he didn't go to the ball?

Matter of fact, they were after a pull over near the US border. They searched my trunk without a warrant and without probable cause. Just one more reason why I support the Libertarian party and not the Republitards.

Civil rights are more important than national security, tbh.

All you had to do was say "I do not consent to a search".
