I’m afraid of cottonmouth’s/water moccasins. Not no but Fawk no. When I was twelve years old, my dad and I I were invited to go to a swamp cap. Fishing/hunting and the dads would cook and drink all night playing cards. They were very drunk by sleepy time. Got us the next morning and we went fishing and shooting. Of course the only way to travel in the swamp is by boat. Eleven foot outboards aluminum. I was sitting up front whilst cool pop was driving. He sped towards the bank and couldn’t stop it. We hit the bank and I flew about seven feet. Laughing I look up to make sure he’s ok, and what am I a.foot away from? A water moccasin that was shedding its skin. I froze. I crawled slowly backwards staring at that fawker. Then I ran.

I’d be more concerned about the pythons and mosquitoes and swamp bugs.

Call his local coroner office and let them know. They handle suicidal people. The police come and escort them to a hospital/facility to watch and counsel them. It’s not an arrest. No cuffs. Most states can only observe you for 72 hours and then let you go home. I’ve done it twice in thirty years. It’s the best way to go in my opinion. Or have a local friend help you. It’s a wake up call he needs. Good luck. It’s a call for help.
