Woman Removed From Flight For Misgendering Crew Member

https://www.nationalreview.com/news/mother-with-young-child-ejected-from-plane-after-accidentally-misgendering-trans-airline-employee/ By CAROLINE DOWNEY June 27, 2024 12:12 PM The crew of a United Airlines flight on Wednesday ejected a Texas mom scrambling to get her young child and elderly mother settled on the plane after she accidentally addressed a transgender-identifying employee with male pronouns. Jenna Longoria, a nutrition practitioner and women’s health coach, asked the gate agent at San Francisco International Airport whether she could pre-board her flight, given that she was traveling with her 16-month-old son. The man at the counter, whom she later learned identifies as transgender, informed her that airline policy prohibited her from bringing her son’s car seat on board, “which I knew to be untrue,” she told National Review. After waiting for a while, Longoria pleaded again with the gate agent to let her party pre-board. The transgender employee rolled his eyes, Longoria said, and handed her a boarding pass. She replied, “thank you, sir,” which upset him. While Longoria was allowed to board with her child, her 73-year-old mother was held back, she said. Struggling to break down her baby stroller and arrange the car seat to get her crying son situated, Longoria asked a different flight attendant for help, noting that the staff member at the front refused to let her mother pre-board with her. “He asked who and I said, ‘the man at the front,'” Longoria recounted. “He told me they were a woman. I said, ‘I’m sorry, [I’m] not well versed in pronouns. He said, ‘well she’s wearing a dress.'” After Longoria again asked the flight attendant for help, he told her to get off the plane, informing her that she was being barred from the flight due to her alleged bigotry, she said. The operations manager told her she may be banned from all future United flights because she made an inflammatory comment about the flight attendant’s gender, she said. “It’s so confusing these days to keep up with everyone’s pronouns and sometimes you can’t tell by outward appearance what they are identifying as,” she said. “I was not trying to harm anyone.” Asked for comment, United denied Longoria’s expulsion had anything to do with so-called misgendering an employee. “A party of three traveling out of San Francisco today was not allowed to board following a discussion about having too many carry-on items,” a spokesperson told National Review. “The matter was resolved and the customers took a later United flight to finish their trip.” A video Longoria posted to Instagramappeared to corroborate her claim that the staff kicked her off due to supposedly inappropriate language. In the video, Longoria speaks to a United official, whom she identified as Gabriella, who told her she had to get statements from witnesses to “fact find.” Gabriella said it was the captain’s decision to get her removed. When Longoria pressed for an explanation, Gabriella responded that she was being ejected “for what came out of your mouth.” “I need you to know that because of this verbal altercation that you had with my staff, you got yourself put off this craft,” she said. “And it was confirmed by the captain. They heard it all.” Longoria asked again what specific conduct or words warranted this action. “I don’t wanna put words in their mouths because I still need statements, but some transgender comments were made, derogatory comments about being a bigot not being on the aircraft. This is what I heard,” the United employee said. After being escorted off the flight, Longoria implored staff to let her family get their luggage off the plane because they needed medication that was stowed away, but United refused, she said. After waiting in the airport for three hours, Longoria booked new flights with American Airlines for $1,000. Longoria posted her experience on X, after which United contacted her and placed her party on a later flight to Austin. United declined to answer whether it would compensate Longoria for the $1,000 she spent on American Airlines tickets after she was allegedly told she could be blacklisted from future United flights. -

My bad on the championships. The headline said it, but "WA's first transgender high school track champion ..." and my brain just saw the first trans state champ... And I did run track and I know that, that's why at this point I have "transitioned" to prohibiting them until much more research is done and we can decide how/if the playing field can be leveled -

I absolutely do not believe they belong in institutions. If they are not a danger to themselves or others there is zero reason for that. You are taking it to excess. I do not think that because they BELIEVE they are a girl it gives them the right to compete in sports against actual girls/women. We need to keep our heads straight here. Saying there is no difference in men and women's bodies is absurd. Instead of celebrating this mental illness we should be getting them therapy. That help includes getting them to love their body. Not trying to help them transition to a different gender. Also. You ever notice that the girls who want to transition are almost always crapper busting fatties who would probably not feel the same if they lost 150lbs and talked to someone other than their 12 cats? We could probably put a giant dent in the "trans" population by just prescribing them ozempic. -

Probably consulted his SO. Hard to say if she consulted with him. Regardless, I don't think we are discussing a candidate for family of the year. Two kids appear to be lashing out for attention, and the parents' (guessing only the SIL, not both parents) response is not only to ignore their alleged trans, but basically abandon them for the summer. -

If we’re talking about people with legitimate gender dysphoria vs. playing make believe, following a trend etc. I don’t think they’re pretending. I think they’re legitimately wired differently. I’d say they have more in common with someone who is gay than someone with multiple personality disorder. I do think a pretty high % of “trans” kids are just confused, following a trend etc. But there are legitimate cases out there of people who were just born the wrong gender. Fwiw I would be fine with a ban on any medical treatment including puberty blockers for minors under the age where they can make independent medical decisions, which is usually 16+ in most states. -

I am not anti-anyone. Literally. I just believe that if we are going to be talking about gender dysphoria that we should be talking about it for what is is. Gender dysphoria(aka Trans) (GD), according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5), is defined as a "marked incongruence between their experienced or expressed gender and the one they were assigned at birth." It is a literal mental illness. -

We've been through this, and yet you still say it. The AMA is not a scientific organization; it is a political/lobbying organization. Here is an interview with the head of the AMA -- the first openly gay head. Most of the interview is about his being gay and pushing a gay and trans agenda: https://apnews.com/article/american-medical-association-president-bd8b9b9bdb61da2ad00285d83e353d5e Also, it is not the "majority of doctors around the world," the majority of doctors just want to practice their area of medicine and otherwise be left alone. The above interview has the following exchange: It is categorically wrong that hormonal and surgical intervention for children is "evidence-based health care." -

A young surgeon revealed how his hospital was secretly transitioning gender-distressed children. He is now facing federal charges.
IGotWorms replied to jerryskids's topic in The Geek Club
Did a little digging, this seems to be a less slanted summary of the issue from USA Today: Is the government silencing Haim for political reasons or for violating HIPAA? The indictment accuses Haim of illegally accessing patient records, and doing so under false pretenses. If that proves to be accurate, Haim needs to be held accountable. However, Haim's objective − to blow the whistle on Texas Children's Hospital − raises the question of whether his alleged wrongdoing should be taken into account, because the hospital continued treatments on transgender minors when it said it would stop. HIPAA violations should be taken seriously. But "up to 10 years in federal prison and a $250,000 maximum possible fine" for exposing the hospital's alleged wrongdoing seems excessive. The care of transgender minors is fraught with complicated issues. Unlike adults, children, who are still legally minors and who in many cases have yet to reach puberty, cannot truly give informed consent and cannot know what they might want when they become adults. It's vital that ongoing discussions take place among medical providers, youth, their families and policymakers. What must be avoided are efforts to silence dissent. https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/columnist/2024/06/18/whistleblower-surgeon-trans-kids-gender-affirming-care-texas/74075234007/ It’s an op ed so probably still slanted, but at least this piece mentions that he allegedly violated HIPAA (sort of a big deal). So interesting issue if he broke the law but is a whistleblower. Kinda like Snowden in that regard I guess. -

So, to the case at hand, it seems we have dueling ass holes. On one side, we have a plaintiff who sought this guy out to create this lawsuit. If she wanted a blue and pink cake, she could have asked for that without pointing out the celebration of gender transition. On the other side, we have the defendant, who won't make a blue and pink cake. There does not seem to be any complex art to such a cake. As opposed to @weepawsand his cult, I like the Catholic position on trans: https://www.catholic.com/qa/the-churchs-position-on-transgenderism-0 "Love the sinner, hate the sin" is a pretty good model for such situations. This seems like "uncharitable behavior" on the part of the behavior, and as such I disapprove of the baker's position. The question, of course, is not what I think, but should HE be able to do it. That's a little thornier. It seems the plaintiff IMO planned out a good trap for this guy. At the end of the day, and I know conservatives here won't like what I'm about to say: I think time will show the baker to be on the wrong side of history here. I say this because there are other positions, like medical (hormonal and surgical) transitioning, where I am extremely confident that my opposition will be on the right side of history.
