"All I knew was that my behavior was getting crazier and crazier," McGreevey says of his torrid truck-stop trysts in an upcoming book that details his tortured life of lies and sexual repression.

i always knew there was something fruity about him.

This guy just really p|sses me off.

Just b/c he is a gay man who came out of the closet he will be hailed as some kind of focking hero.

The guy is a liar. He lied to his family and he lied to his constituents.

Meanwhile, he'll go on Oprah and that fat cow will moo his praises for being so brave. That wohah has no problem rooning that author Frye's (sp?) career b/c he exaggerated some claims in his semi-autobiographical book, but Mangravy gets a free pass?

Frye made some sh|t up in a book about his own life experiences. Mangravy put a poetry major who doesn't have US citizenship (which means he wasn't allowed to have access to certain levels of intel) in charge of homeland security for the state of NJ. He endangered the lives of every man, woman and child under his protection...all so he could get a piece of ass.

But b/c that ass is covered in hair and belongs to a man, Mangravy is a hero? :o

If he was cruising truck stops trying to score meth, it'd be less of a scandal.

If he was cruising for drugs he might actually have gotten into trouble. As it stands now, he'll get $500k for his story about how he lied to the people he was elected to represent and risked their lives so he could get a piece of ass. :o

Maybe we need to step back and think about why a guy like this would have to lie? Surely, everyone in this country would be open minded enough that they wouldn't judge him based on sexual orientation right? So, if he could do the job, that's all that would matter? So enlighten me, why would a seemingly bright guy, with somewhat solid political career, be forced to lie?

Hmmmm, not sure we should qualify it like that exactly. Politicians should operate at a higher level, lying about stuff tends to negatively impact their career....unless they are Bill Clinton of course....

but the problem was that he sucked at his job. he was not a good nj governor.

and the fact he hired his boytoy with no government experience or even us citizenship to be a key player in jersey's homeland security is absolutelty unforgivable. how would you feel if bush hired pamela anderson to head the nation's homeland security? well essentially this is what mcgreevy did

Why he lied? Frankly, I don't care, but I'd wager a guess that it might have had something to do w/him cheating on his wife!

I am so sick and tired of politicians and celebritites getting away w/the same crap that would land you or I in deep doo-doo b/c appologists like you always want to put the focus on the 'why'.

You make it sound as if he's the victim...

.

.

...not his wife & kids who have to live w/the fact that the man they called husband & father is not the man they knew at all, but rather a liar who lived a double life. ETA: Let alone what kind of rest-stop cooties he brought home into his bed.

.

.

...not his constituents who entrusted this man to run the state and had their support betrayed for a piece of ass.

What if he was cheating on his wife w/another woman? What if this woman had a degree in literature and was from another country and then he appointed her to be head of homeland security for NJ?

Would you and so many others be coming to his defense? Would you be making similar excuses for his behavior? Posing questions about why he had to lie about cheating on his wife? For that matter, do you think he would have been more up-front and honest w/his family and those people he swore to represent if he was focking around w/and giving high-level positions to an unqualified woman?

Personally, as a resident of NJ, I'd be just as p|ssed.

Why do some people believe that people in the public eye should somehow get a free pass on this kind of crap? It's like that song..."...get caught smoking crack, McDonald's wouldn't even take you back...you could always become mayor of DC..."

Right, but so does being gay. Which is the lesser of two evils? Personally, I'd lie, since most of the U.S. has a short memory for that stuff, but will be relentless if you don't fit their ideal values.

Settle down. By all accounts, this guy was/is gay, has known it for a long, long time, and felt like he had to lie about it? That's the bigger issue. He should've never gotten married or had children. Not very good decisions and will have a negative affect on his family. Certainly, he made some bad decisions along the way, and no one is giving him a free pass.

Also, if I cheated on my wife, I'm pretty sure that has no bearing on anyone but my family.

I guess I just find it interesting that a man who knows he's gay feels that he has to hide it for most of his life. More of an indictment of our society if you ask me.

Well, I said somewhat solid. If he's the Governer of a State, he's done something right to get that point. Questionable decisions about his staff is a definite red flag though.

HITCHHIKER

Thanks for picking me up.

TED

No prob, I could use the company. I've been

on the road going on fifteen hours

straight.

HITCHHIKER

I know how you feel--I been standing in the

same spot for the last five hours. You know

it's against the law to pick up a

hitchhiker in this state.

TED

That must make it tough.

HITCHHIKER

Sucks. So what's up? You some kind of

salesman or something?

TED

Nah. I'm...I'm nothing.

HITCHHIKER

Oh. Well I am.

TED

Hm?

HITCHHIKER

A salesman--that's what I am. I mean, I'm

gonna be anyway. I'm starting my own

company--video sales--just as soon as I get

enough seed money.

TED

'That right? Good for you.

HITCHHIKER

Yeah, you wouldn't believe my idea--it's a

home run. You ever hear of Eight-Minute

Abs?

TED

The exercise tape? Sure, I've seen it on

T.V.

HITCHHIKER

Two million copies it sold last year. Two

million, man. But not next year--my idea's

gonna blow them outta the water. Get this:

(dramatic pause)

Seven-Minute Abs.

BEAT.

TED

I see where you're going.

HITCHHIKER

(big smile)

Think about it. You walk into a video

store and you see Eight-Minute Abs and

right next to it you see Seven-Minute

Abs--which one you gonna spring for?

TED

I'd go with the seven.

HITCHHIKER

Bingo. Especially since we guarantee you'll

get every bit as good a work-out.

TED

How do you guarantee that?

HITCHHIKER

Well it's the company motto: 'If you ain't

happy we'll send you the extra minute.'

TED

Huh. That sounds great.

(beat)

Unless someone else comes out with

Six-Minute Abs.

Ted CHUCKLES, but the Hitchhiker just GLARES at him, unamused.

TED (cont'd)

(unaware)

I'm gonna pull over. I gotta take a leak.

Settle down.

I live in NJ and have had to deal w/the corrupt politicians here for years. The fact that even after this all came out the Dem party in NJ fought to keep him in office juuuuuust long enough to prevent a special election from happening, so the Dems could keep the office... ...well...it gets me riled up. Can't help it.

Also, if I cheated on my wife, I'm pretty sure that has no bearing on anyone but my family.

Until you give your mistress a job that puts her in charge of the safety of millions of people...a job that she is wholly unqualified for.

True. Which has very little to do with my being gay or straight. If we want to talk about how terrible a Governer the guy was, which is where you're coming from, I'm all for it. If we want to start a thread bashing him for his sexual preferences, I have a problem with that.

I could care less if he was pitching or catching or who it was with.

However, just as you point out that you have a problem w/a thread bashing him for his sexual preferences...I have a problem w/him getting (what I perceive to be) a free pass just because of his sexual preferences.

All of this political correctness makes me want to puke. If you are one of the "protected PC groups"...gays, crapper busting fatties, minorities...nobody can touch you. However, if you are not in one of the groups that the PC police have deemed worthy of their protection...smokers, hetero white males...it's open season.

Forced from office. Quite the free pass he got there.

What exactly would you like to see happen to him?

No, improper. I also think it's improper that the first few responses were all related to this guy being gay.

Well, that's what I'm wondering? He lost his job right? Would probably never be able to hold public office again? Lost his family?

Who is giving him a free pass? All I'm saying is, stick to what he's done as a person, not at him being gay.
