Let Da Big Dog Eat 40 Posted June 2, 2006 Prolly for squeeling to the league about last sessions practices being too tough. Or, maybe drinking chocolate malts in the huddle.

adam smitty 0 Posted June 2, 2006 well he's not a bust yet...................or is he He's really close to it, but I am starting to think that Mike is going to be one of those 3rd year breakout guys. I think and hope he improves a bit this year, even as a Packer fan because he has an insane amount of talent.

Hurricane Ditka 0 Posted June 3, 2006 You know alot of people in here roasted the Bears last year for passing on Cedric Benson in favor of Mike Williams. I am glad the Bears missed Fat Williams.

LunaTick 30 Posted June 4, 2006 Looks like I was wrong when I was pissed the Vikes took Williamson over this douche. You know, I was pissed up back then about it right up until the Lions drafted the guy. Then when he celebrated his selection. I got the instant impression of a diva/ego. Which had Cris Carters signature all over it.

swamp dog 0 Posted June 5, 2006 Pagin swamp puppy....paging swamp puppy.....get off the ledge buddy.....get off the ledge i'm not going to question what rod is doing. he knows more than i do about things. no spin, no nothing here. rod did what he felt he had to do. the biggest frustration last year was the lack of accountability. good to see rod laying down the law early and consistently. so i'll see your banana and double it up martz spoke positive about mike the same day this happened. and the talk in spring so far has been about the slimmed-downed version of mike. time will tell. but i can tell it's certainly june and we're all bored if mike being held out of a practice and riding a stationary bike on the sidelines is big news I guess everyone should bump Scotty Vines up on their cheatsheet, because it doesn't look like it's going to be any different than last year. you don't have anybody but bears on your cheatsheet anyway. Let Da Big Dog Eat 40 Posted June 5, 2006 I for one am very disappointed. I have come to expect much better spin from you Swamp. "i'm not going to question what rod is doing. he knows more than i do about things. no spin, no nothing here. rod did what he felt he had to do. the biggest frustration last year was the lack of accountability. good to see rod laying down the law early and consistently." And that's not spin? Because you say so? "no spin, no nothing here." And then the spin goes on. "martz spoke positive about mike the same day this happened. and the talk in spring so far has been about the slimmed-downed version of mike. time will tell." Uh, link? I saw where he thought they all had quicker feet than Martz thought. But, if FMW was on a stationary bike, I am not sure how quick feet on a stationary bike translates to NFL productivity. From you, "but i can tell it's certainly june and we're all bored if mike being held out of a practice and riding a stationary bike on the sidelines is big news" "you don't have anybody but bears on your cheatsheet anyway." Now that's better, obviscate and attack. Back to form. I'll even help. Angello's grandmother wears grannny panties, therefore Millen is a better GM. Always here to help. Now that's better, obviscate and attack. Back to form. I'll even help. Angello's grandmother wears grannny panties, therefore Millen is a better GM. Always here to help. not sure what spin you're referring to. i've been saying all along that you can't judge mike williams after a rookie season where he'd been out of football for nearly two years. that's it. that's the extent of my big spin on the subject. this year will be a key year for him. it's up to him and only him. if he doesn't elevate his game, he'll be gone. curiously, i get ridiculed for stating the above in the interim, rod will hold these players--all of them--accountable. that's good to see. so maybe it'd be a better spin if i said rod shouldn't hold these guys accountable? more than anything, lion fans are sick of players not being held accountable. you'll find no lion fan giving ANY player on the roster sympathy who is shown the door because he was lazy and didn't give effort. if that includes mike, that will include mike. but it's a little early yet to lop off his head. here's a link to the article where both marinelli and martz are quoted on thursday, may 31 (the day of the incident): http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../606030409/1126 again, mike has to step it up this year, no question. but i'm waiting until the end of this season to pass judgment on him. DrJ 0 Posted June 7, 2006 Nothing more telling about how pitiful things are for the Lions than a fan actually considering a player being held out of practice as being a good thing.
swamp dog 0 Posted June 7, 2006 rod marinelli, june 7: >> On whether WR Mike Williams is back practicing "Yes, he was here practicing." >> On whether Williams is physically fine "He's getting better. He's getting better; treatment all those things, so he's back working. He was here Monday; we had a long walk-thru, some of those things." >> On whether the issue with Williams was straightened out "He's here working. That was the whole thing and, like I said, he's here and (he's had a) good start this week, very good." >> On whether he has had some sort of injury "He's had a little bit." >> On whether it was a hamstring injury "Yeah, but we're getting him cleaned up here, and getting him ready to go, get him healthy and he can get some work in now after the last couple weeks." www.detroitlions.com Nothing more telling about how pitiful things are for the Lions than a fan actually considering a player being held out of practice as being a good thing. yeah, and lovie is a putz for demoting briggs and jones, eh? certainly lovie or rod--or any coach-- towing the line is a very bad thing. DrJ 0 Posted June 8, 2006 yeah, and lovie is a putz for demoting briggs and jones, eh? certainly lovie or rod--or any coach-- towing the line is a very bad thing. The story isn't them being demoted, it's them doing things (not showing up) that causes the coach to demote them that's the story. And no, that's not a good thing. But we're also talking about seasoned vets that obviously know how to prepare in the offseason and are posturing for contracts, and not lazy rookies that showed jack last season, so it's not nearly the story that FMW being a lazy POS as usual is. If Benson were to not show up and get disciplined, then you'd have a comparable story. But hey, keep thinking that Mike Williams continuing to be a lazy piece of crap is somehow great news. DrJ 0 Posted June 9, 2006 Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports the Detroit Lions have made the decision that, until WR Mike Williams demonstrates a noticeable change in his behavior, and few in the organization are expecting anything to be any different any time soon, he will not be contributing to the franchise. Williams is currently running with the third-string offense. The team even has looked into the cost of ridding itself of Williams, but realized it cannot. If the Lions were to cut or trade Williams, they would be hit with a whopping $12 million salary cap charge. Unless Williams changes his attitude, his name will be expected to pop up often on the inactive list this season. The Lions have options at wide receiver, but right now, Mike Williams is not one of them.
