joneo 556 Posted June 11, 2006 SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Barry Bonds wants to cooperate with special investigator George Mitchell, but will only talk to him if he is assured the information won't be given to federal prosecutors. Bonds also dropped his lawsuit against two San Francisco Chronicle reporters who published a book claiming the Giants slugger used steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5684188 liar liar pants on fire
PIK 95 2 Posted June 11, 2006 As if Georgie boy had the Authoritaa to do that for him, lol. Me thinks Barry will do time or roll on everyone (although he may not know much because he has no friends).

Now he is willing to tell the truth and he is getting ######! Why isn't any other player getting the same type of grief. Yes Bonds is a d!ck, but what about Big Mack, Sosa, Giambi, Palmero? Why aren't we riding there a$$?

doughboys_2002 11 Posted June 11, 2006 I think you just answered your own question. So what, there are plenty of d!cks out there, why is Bonds singled out? He is still one of the best natural hitters in baseball, drug or no drugs! The guy should atleast be admired for his talent, roids aside.

It's like hating George Bush when all the people that voted for him should be getting the same grief! Bonds is approaching baseball's most covetted record. Couple that with the fact that he has always been a pompous asswipe, and you have the reason why he if the posterboy for this whole steroid scandal. If Bonds was a Jason Grimsley-type, who just took roids to maintain a career, he would just be one of the hundreds who probably took them. Instead, he owns baseballs single season home run mark and may soon hold the overall title. BAseball purists do not want to see these records held by a cheater. The guy should atleast be admired for his talent, roids aside. He cheated and then lied about it in court. At least McGwire had the intelligence to take the 5th. For all of those people that think that this is about race, look no further than Pete Rose. Everyone still rides his butt because he swore up and down that he did nothing. Come to find out, he might have been lying just a tad. Barry is in the same boat.

Simple, you mark it with a * and not make it a big deal...boy that was tough! I don't think this is about race, frankly I don't give a sh!t about that, Palmero pointed his finger! Either way, like you have never lied about anything. So many people have lied about things worse, or even the same calibur. I just think he is the scapegoat for the whole thing, and I think we should fry them all, not just one!
yostevo 0 Posted June 11, 2006 It will take a player of the magnitude of Bonds to rid the sporting world of illegal enhancing drugs.(I know, a pipedream but....) People will take notice of a career ruined completely by ignorance. He was on pace to be a HOF without the dope. So what if he's the poster boy. He chose to do it. The mightier they are, the harder they fall. So be it.

I have never lied in court. That is a felony, called perjury. You say that Bonds is the scapegoat. That is not the case. He is one of many who has cheated. Some will get caught and some won't. Some of those who are caught will lie and deny it until the day they die (Palmeiro is probably one of those). Those are the people that will catch the grief. Bonds fits into that category and he is not the only one. You are trying to make Bonds out to be a martyr, when he is a cheating liar.

If he had left baseball like Palmero things would be over for him, but because he is trying to keep going after the drugs, and he is a high profile player he is never going to hear the end of it till he retires. On a brighter note, Shoeless Joe Jackson should be allowed in the Hall!

GobbleDog 997 Posted June 12, 2006 So what, there are plenty of d!cks out there, why is Bonds singled out? Is he being singled out? Who else lied under oath to Congress? They tried to get Palmero, but there wasn't enough evidense. And Macguire pleaded the 5th. Who else might have lied? Did Slammin Sammy appear before Congress or sign an affidavit? Chronic Husker 85 Posted June 12, 2006 Yeah name 10 player that put up better numbers than he did in the world series! Doesn't matter. People like you and the Pete Rose apologists don't understand. The Black Sox scandal nearly killed baseball. Gone. No more. No games. No HOF. No World Series. Nothing. That's why betting on baseball is taboo. If betting is allowed, all credibility is lost. Joe Jackson knew that. So did Pete Rose. End of discussion.
edjr 6,592 Posted June 12, 2006 Where's the resident Bonds apologist, Edjr????? Why? I've admitted I think Bonds did/used steroids. There is no hard proof of this, other than rumored "leaked grand jury" testimony. Why aren't you and everyone else concentrating on the players that have actually failed drug tests or openly admitted they did steroids. Palmeiro, Giambi, etc.

Strike 5,553 Posted June 12, 2006 Again.. why him? why not anyone else? why the witch hunt? couple of hacks looking to make a quick buck.. frauds They probably wrote the book because they work for a SF media group and had access to the PROOF. Not a witch hunt. Why are you so obsessed with this?
edjr 6,592 Posted June 12, 2006 Didn't read the book, huh? Bonds was not the only one discussed. Why would anyone read that? do you read star magazine and enquirer too? Was he not the focal point of the book? They probably wrote the book because they work for a SF media group and had access to the PROOF. Not a witch hunt. Why are you so obsessed with this? Like any good talk show, someone has to take the other side.
Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted June 12, 2006 Why would anyone read that? do you read star magazine and enquirer too? These guys are not hacks and are respected sports writers. Likening their reporting to tabloid press is the sure sign of a person with their head in the sand. While Bonds was the primary focus (he is the poster child for 'roid use in sports), other athletes are implicated in the book, including Jeremy Giambi, track stars Marion Jones and Tim Montgomery, and former NFL linebacker Bill Romanowski.
