JEERS: For Red Sox leftfielder Manny Ramirez. The Providence Journal reported - and nobody specifically denied - that Ramirez had to be talked into playing in a crucial game against the Yankees Saturday because he was miffed by an official scorer's call that cost him a hit Friday night.

 

Ramirez then took himself out in the fourth inning of Monday's game against the Yankees, claiming that he had a hamstring cramp.

 

He also reportedly refused to be in a team picture last weekend.

 

This guy's a great hitter, but that's about it.

I hate the Red Sux as much as the next person, probably more. That said, you can't group everyone on a team in with 1 classless person.

I agree. The majority of Red Sox that battled and scraped their way to the series played a very hard-nosed version of baseball.

Manny has always been self-absorbed goofball. He's very eccentric and seems to be in his own little world.

 

You can't judge the Sox and Manny together. They've tried trading him and couldn't get anyone to do it. If my recollection is right, they even tried waiving him and no one wanted him. They're kind of stuck with the a-hole that is Manny Ramirez. There is always the consolation that he's a tremendous hitter.

you're 100% correct. They waived him before the 2004 season, any team could have claimed him for no players, just had to pay his contract. Without him the Sox don't win the World Series. So you have to take the good with the bad.
