tony hardware 0 Posted September 29, 2006 This question was posed in one of my business school classes last night and all the cornballs were like, the challenge I get at work, striving to be better, wanting to succeed. I raised my hand and wanted to call everybody liars. I said my paycheck, my bills and knowing I'm going to get a fat pastry when I get to work gets my fat arse out of bed each morning, you lying bastards. So what motivates you people to get out of bed each day?

Brad GLuckman 518 Posted September 29, 2006 What a bunch of ass-kissers you have to deal with. I'd like to meet the complete tool that wakes up every day and says "I can't wait to strive to be better today."... Not getting fired is the reason everyone wakes up during the workweek. On weekends, the reasons are different. Hanging out with friends, yardwork, football, can't sleep anymore...etc.

Honestly, I have had two jobs where I can definitely say that the sheer joy of doing the work got me to go. I think it's possible but it just isn't all that frequent. Blitzen 0 Posted September 29, 2006 You a porn star? Professional Bowler? I wish but nope. Just had a kick-ass group of people to work with twice in my life. But yeah, most times, it's been: you gotta do what you gotta do.
Brad GLuckman 518 Posted September 29, 2006 Honestly, I have had two jobs where I can definitely say that the sheer joy of doing the work got me to go. I think it's possible but it just isn't all that frequent. I love my job right now. I wake up, and don't at all dread my work day. I enjoy my work quite a bit. But, there has not been one day where I woke up a did a focking cartwheel around my bedroom because I was so pumped up to "strive to be better"... Just saying, Tony Hardware was right in calling out the other people who were obviously saying whatever they thought the instructor of the class wanted to hear. Yeah, that's pretty much where I'm at right now... Just saying his classmates are looking for kudos from the instructor, that's all.

naomi 343 Posted September 29, 2006 The possibilities of what life just might have to throw my way that day. Agreed. That (at least the good stuff thrown) and needing to be at class on most mornings. Today I have nowhere to be, wasn't sleeping, thinking about things with a guy that I broke up with the other day. The morning is peaceful, and coffee is good, got bored laying there. TheNewGirl 1,031 Posted September 29, 2006 Postpartum depression? At this point, I don't know. I am 8 months post partum, and it seems to be more that there are specific events that trigger it (it's called dystymia and I have been diagnosed with that in the past, but not within the last 5 years or so). I am still breastfeeding, and my normal body, ahem, "cycles" are not normal, so the hormones are still a-ragin'. So, I think it's a few different things, but most days, staying in bed with the covers over my head is what I would LOVE to do.
