FlaHawker 24 Posted March 30, 2007 I've only been lurking for the most part, and have not had a ton of time to stay on top of this - unfortunately - but . . . MTSkiBum - Before I make rash assumptions, will you please explain yourself. I thought your first-round pick was questionable, drafting to one of the deepest positions on the team with a guy who wasn't at the top of anyone's board at that point, and now your second-round pick is a LB who is injury-prone, doesn't fit the mold of a Steelers' OLB, and may be better suited to a 4-3 than the 3-4, which Tomlin has now assured us that they're going with . . . Please explain. I want to know the thinking. I can't wait for this explanation
Kilroy 0 Posted March 30, 2007 Philadelphia Eagles Round 1 (1.26) -- Lawrence Timmons, OLB, Florida St. Round 2 (2.57) -- John Wendling, S, Wyoming I wanted to go S in the 1st round, but the top 3 were gone. I made the pick just before the Eagles traded for Spikes. They needed help at the position and got it through a trade. Prior to that, I thought it was possible they may actually use a 1st round pick on the position to get some help, even though they haven't taken a LB in the 1st in I think at least a decade. In the 2nd, I grabbed the help at S they could use. They'll need a replacement for Dawkins soon enough, and in the meantime they could use more competition at the position. I'm not sure how much Considine is capable of. There were a couple RBs I thought about in the 2nd, but I didn't think they were worth selecting at this point in the draft with some solid safeties left on the board for the Eagles. The resigning of Buckhalter also factored into it and I'm not sure where Moats fits into things right now.
MTSkiBum 1,620 Posted March 30, 2007 Edit My main criteria in selecting this pick was getting an OLB that could play either a 3-4 or a 4-3. Everything i found on him was that he could play either a 4-3 or a 3-4, and 1 knee injury does not make you injury prone, 1 knee injury is dumb luck. Also one of Stewarts major skills is his quickness. So a big quick guy does fit in the steelers mold of an OLB. Joey Porter 6'3" 250 pounts Stewart Bradley 6'3" 258 pounts

All right, at least you had a plan in what you were thinking. I'm not sure I agree, but I hear where you're coming from. It just sounds to me like we drafted another Alonzo Jackson. Just saying . . . Erb047 0 Posted April 2, 2007 I was hoping Spencer would fall....but since Husker woke up from his nap that won't happen It won't happen in real life either though...heh...
Chronic Husker 85 Posted April 2, 2007 I was hoping Spencer would fall....but since Husker woke up from his nap that won't happen It won't happen in real life either though...heh... Exactly what I was thinking. Can't take him at 1.21 but he won't last until 2.21. I'm winning this draft.

JetsFan28 0 Posted April 3, 2007 Just going to think out loud here... I selected Jackson who was suspended for a little while, making him not look like a Mangini guy. However, CB is a position that must be addressed in this draft and the bottom line is that this guy is a good player. To go back to the first round (and I'm not blaming you Mack), I would not have selected the tight end. If I could do this draft over, I would have selected either Aaron Ross or Justin Blalock, with the lean being the latter. Being that that Olsen was selected in the 1st round, I had to adjust. Those are just my thoughts.

Erb047 0 Posted April 3, 2007 I was hoping for Spencer at 60 but I'll take Ugoh. I think I did pretty well for Miami, filling three pretty big holes with some guys with good potential. Brady Quinn - Franchise QB. Daymeion Hughes - Good cover CB, which is what this team needs. Will Allen is OK, but beyond that...not so much.... Tony Ugoh - While he worries me a little, I think he was the best value at #60. I will be very suprised if he lasts that long come April. Miami let 3 starting lineman go this offseason and hasn't done much to beef it up yet, so this makes sense.
RicemanX 20 Posted April 4, 2007 wow, I can't believe Drew Stanton fell to me. Great QB with a great future. Very mobile, good arm. I think his weak sides are that he comes from a losing football team and also he doesn't do well under pressure. But hey, the Raiders aren't going to expect wins from this guy yet, just signs of improvement.
