naomi 350 Posted June 13, 2007 When the last living thing has died on account of us, how poetical it would be if Earth could say, in a voice floating up perhaps from the floor of the Grand Canyon, 'It is done." People did not like it here. Environmentalists Just feel sadness Nothing Not sure what to think Other eta: it's technically a last stanza of a larger poem

wiffleball 4,688 Posted June 13, 2007 Wow. That REALLY made me think. When I got done reading -and re-reading that, I couldn't help but stop and think: "Is "poetical" a real word?"
Voice_Of_Reason 0 Posted June 13, 2007 I've been to the grand canyon. I did not like it there myself. It was frigin HOT! Also.... did you write that while nekkid?
wiffleball 4,688 Posted June 13, 2007 can size please...calling them "huge" is unacceptorable Probably just the standard 12 oz can size I imagine. Though I'm pretty sure he prefers bottled beer.

parrot 789 Posted June 13, 2007 It made me think if the Earth magically talks at the Grand Canyon and there's no one there to hear it, does it make a sound? Chew on that one for a while.
dolfan06 1 Posted June 13, 2007 If the Earth was going to speak, why would it speak from the Grand Canyon? Seems pretty Americentric to me.

Yer mom 2 Posted June 13, 2007 from the floor of the Grand Canyon, First off, id still be alive cause im so special that my mom feels the need to remind me every day. Then id tell that little gopher hole to gimme my damn Laker hat back that flew into his mouth on a cross country trip back in 89. Punk ass Grand Canyon
naomi 350 Posted June 13, 2007 If the Earth was going to speak, why would it speak from the Grand Canyon? Seems pretty Americentric to me. That thought went through my mind too, but the Grand Canyon stands out. It's not the deepest canyon but I think it's the biggest hole in the earth that really looks like a hole. Other canyons that go deeper look like earthy green basins. Pick any place on earth for the earth to 'speak up' from within itself...the author probably doesn't need to be American for the Grand Canyon to come to mind. Punk ass Grand Canyon The park people there say whatever you do don't try to hike down and back up in one day. My dad and I got down to about 1,000 feet above the river during late July and hiked back up. We didn't have anything with us to be able to stay down at the bottom but yet we just kept hiking further down, it was pretty stupid. We ran out of water half way up to the top, my dad's knee went out, people gave us worried and judgemental looks. I've never been so tired in my life. We lived though

My dumbass was venturing near a cliff that clearly stated "STAY AWAY FROM EDGE" (or something to that degree) So I definately approached as far as I could to look over without falling. I would have it speak from the rain forest, or somewhere else that had more genuine indigenous people living there who the earth probably likes better. Or maybe the Marianas Trench (which is the deepest part of the ocean) or Mount Everest (which is the tallest mountain on earth). I don't want the earth to sound like a tourist. It should sound earthy and rough.

frank 2,173 Posted June 14, 2007 When there's lightning - it always bring me down Cause it's free and I see that it's me Who's lost and never found I cry for magic - I feel it dancing in the light But it was cold - I lost my hold To the shadows of the night There's no sign of the morning coming You've been left on your own Like a Rainbow in the Dark Do your demons - do they ever let you go When you've tried - do they hide -deep inside Is it someone that you know You're a picture - just an image caught in time We're a lie - you and I We're words without a rhyme There's no sign of the morning coming You've been left on your own Like a Rainbow in the Dark When there's lightning - it always brings me down Cause it's free and I see that it's me Who's lost and never found Feel the magic -feel it dancing in the air But it's fear - and you'll hear It calling you beware There's no sign of the morning coming There's no sight of the day You've been left on your own Like a Rainbow in the Dark

Concrete Charlie 0 Posted June 14, 2007 the crying Indian commercial came to mind right away. The poem is a bummer, but may be true, sad. I prefer to think of the earth making a giant 'face' on the sea surface out of water, looking out, speaking to us before the last heartbeats go out: "cool it everyone, you're bringing me down....i WILL kill ya if you don't stop."
