Fizzelps 0 Posted September 11, 2007 Man...I was getting on to post about how badly this crew sucked.....and you all are already all over it. I would rather listen to the soundtrack of fingernails being scratched down a blackboard!
GiantsRule 0 Posted September 11, 2007 I listen to Mike & Mike in between Opie & Anthony commercial breaks. I enjoy their banter and chemistry, but they have the most annoying teasers on the planet. And it doesn't ever work because I always tune back to my original show before they get to it.
Nikethemutt 0 Posted September 11, 2007 As long as Joe Theisman isn't in the booth though, its always a step in the right direction. Dude, Theismann was VINTAGE! The drunker the better!
WKTSWAY 0 Posted September 11, 2007 Did I hear them say that Joe Nedney was the MVP of the 49ers last year??? They said 2 years ago....and yes, he was.
Nikethemutt 0 Posted September 11, 2007 Golic better watch out 'cuz he's going to get stabbed by Greenberg's pen.
surferskin 30 Posted September 11, 2007 this is pure shiit.
dominus florenzus 0 Posted September 11, 2007 Mike and Mike are great announcers, if it was Theismann and Kornheiser etc I would have turned this game off already..... also nice to have a lineman in the booth explaining what is actually going on. Nice refresher from the losers ESPN usually has up there.
Gepetto 1,368 Posted September 11, 2007 They are worthless. I've just got the volume low so I don't have to "listen". Golic is so annoying and Greeny is a little metrosexual weirdo. I haven't listened to their radio show in years. Golic screaming on that radio show early in the morning, ugh.
prisoners 2 Posted September 11, 2007 Man these guys don't shut up! It's like being stuck on a tour boat surrounded by Long Island yentas constantly yapping. You don't actually realize how bad they are until there is silence, then the relief is surprising and immense.
BlackPlague 1 Posted September 11, 2007 It was definitely nice to see Ditka do a full crotch adjustment right after the camera switched to the booth about midway thru the 2nd quarter. Classic stuff.
Mangatang 0 Posted September 11, 2007 Czabe is hilarious - he does not pull any punches. Mike and Mike are "nice" but tow the company line. Isn't that supposed to be "toe"?
crooklyn 0 Posted September 11, 2007 Funniest moment of the night (to me): Coverage unexpectedly cuts from the field to the broadcast booth, where Ditka is looking down scratching his balls/adjusting his Johnson/zipping his zipper(?) while waiting to try to get a word in between Mike and Mike not shutting up. He finally realizes the cameras are on him, and grins like a Cheshire cat, as if to say: "If your Ditka itches, scratch it." Classic.

mleo21 0 Posted September 11, 2007 Really? I think Mike and Mike are doing a great job, especially considering they aren't full time commentators. Ditka is the one who has nothing to say and won't shut up.

swamp dog 0 Posted September 11, 2007 the banter is kind of like a bunch of guys sitting around in a basement watching football on sunday afternoon. i keep expecting to hear a woman yell in the background "honey! take the garbage out next commercial, okay?" Vince44 205 Posted September 11, 2007 Greeny and Golic are the only two guys at ESPN who I can stand to listen to on radio or TV.
IMHipp 0 Posted September 11, 2007 Greeny and Golic have done a nice job. The thing they do have is a nice chemistry. And when you are doing what they are doing, that is more than half the battle. Ditka....ouch....
DanXIII 8 Posted September 11, 2007 Greeny and Golic are the only two guys at ESPN who I can stand to listen to on radio or TV. Sell your radio and your TV then. Focking Greenburg. Can you PLEASE STFU for FIVE GOD DAMN SECONDS so someone else can get a word in edge-wise? It seemed like Ditka went entire segments without saying a word and, just like on the morning show, 99 out of every 100 words is uttered by Greenburg. God what a flaming turd that was.
BuschWack 59 Posted September 11, 2007 I actually didn't mind these guys. Although they chatter quite a bit (keep in mind that the game was fairly boring in itself), the commentary and analysis were right-on.
nobody 2,672 Posted September 11, 2007 Why does anyone care what Ditka has to say? That guy is long past relevant. The last SF is indicative of his role the whole game. "I told you to watch Gore. Oh wait that wasn't Gore" I thought the other Mike's were pretty good.

You are an idiot. It was DITKA who wouldn't shut up! Greenburg was the play-by-play, he HAS to talk on EVERY play. Ditka is only supposed to add insightful comments when needed. Instead, every time Golic said something, Ditka had to jump in and "one up" him. Mike and Mike did a great job, Ditka is the one who killed that booth. DanXIII 8 Posted September 11, 2007 Why does anyone care what Ditka has to say? That guy is long past relevant. I really don't give a sh!t what Ditka has to say, I'd just rather listen to a sound check than Greeturd's CONSTANT chatter. The guy sounds like he just snorted a line of meth the length of a ruler every time he opens his mouth. It's exactly the same during their morning show. You are an idiot. It's not just about Ditka, assfock, it's about Greenturd's flat REFUSAL to let any voice but his be heard 99% of the time. Like I said above, it's exactly the same during their morning show. 90-to-nothing and most of the time it's his verbose nonsensical observations. He takes a paragraph to utter what takes a normal human a sentence to get out.

I'm just saying you can't criticize him tonight for talking too much when his job for this game was to do most of the talking.
DanXIII 8 Posted September 11, 2007 Oh don't get me wrong, I expect the play-by-play guy to do most of the talking...I just don't expect him to do as much of it as Greenturd did (and, again, does regularly on their morning show). Take some old audio recordings of Howard Cosell, and play them at 3x speed. That's Greenturd. The only reason anyone even remember hearing Go-Lick and Sh1tka even talking was because during the 5 minutes or so they got to utter a few words they were saying stupid sh!t. nategraduates 0 Posted September 11, 2007 I don't know, I found the three Mike's a little entertaining. Greensie was pretty irritating with his play by play and "witty" jokes, and then you'd have Mike Golic and Ditka pretty much agreeing with every football aspect on the planet. But they can't be as bad as having freaking Tony Kornheiser in the booth, one of the most corny irritating people on that planet. Then you put in Mike Tirico who has no idea about what he is talking about EVER. Then you get an ESPN team that makes you want to watch the game in silence. Bring me John Madden's old man Bill Cosby insight with his oddly refreshing voice any day over these goons.
De Novo 0 Posted September 11, 2007 I thought they were good. I'd much rather have Vermeil in Ditka's place but hey, you can't always get what you want.
Borat33 17 Posted September 11, 2007 Golic and Ditka were good but Greenerg really does suck. He is a whiney b!tch and his voice is just not good for a football game.
xenobius 0 Posted September 11, 2007 you guys are all a bunch of whiny bitches. that espn radio show might suck, but the telecast last night was damn good...better than the regular mnf crew and most nfl sportscaster idiots (e.g. randy cross). the three mikes obviously enjoy their company, so they can just talk about the game the whole time, rather than awkwardly coming back to same talking points every five minutes. the morons calling the kc@hou game on sunday couldn't quit slurping Schaub (even after a pic in the endzone), because they had nothing to say to one another. Jeez, what the hell do you people want? No commentators, just repeated cuts to a shot of Bonnie Bernstein and Erin Andrews making out in the booth?
urmother 0 Posted September 11, 2007 better than last year. enjoyed ditka and golic, greenie seemed pretty off on his football analysis. everyone talked too much, like they were still working a radio show. if they allow a little more empty space for the game and stop obsessing about the refereeing they'll be alright.
Jeremy 0 Posted September 11, 2007 I didn't stay up to watch the game, so i can't say if they're any good as announcers. I caught them for a few minutes one time doing an arena game, and I thought they were fine. But I'll reserve judgement on that. I am a fan of their TV/radio show, though. I watch for a half hour every morning before waking the kids up. I think they work well together.
KSB2424 3,148 Posted September 11, 2007 No commentators, just repeated cuts to a shot of Bonnie Bernstein and Erin Andrews making out in the booth? This would be the 4th greatest invention ever, just behind the lightbulb, sliced bread, and Red Bull.
cmh6476 1,025 Posted September 11, 2007 they should replace kornheiser with any of these three. At least these guys know something about football...
FeelingMN 273 Posted September 11, 2007 The old Sunday night crew was the worst. Patrick was alright, but Maguire and Thiesman were horrible. I'd throw in Maas too. Guy's an idiot. Nobody on TV right now is as bad as these guys (I don't have NFL Network so I don't know how bad Gumble really is). How much do you guys really like watching football if the commentators annoy you that much? I really could care less who calls the game. It's football, so that means it's better than 99.99% of anything else on TV. Man, if it's that excruciating to watch, hand the remote over to your special lady and listen to the soothing sounds of HGTV.
GobbleDog 996 Posted September 11, 2007 I thought they were great. Ten times better than the Tony Kornheiser crew.

SOOL 0 Posted September 11, 2007 My goodness, they might be worse than Gumball last year. Gumball is the worst I have ever heard in the booth. BY FAR. I thought Mike and Mike did a solid job last night. Ditka is a non-factor IMO. In a somewhat related note, not sure if any of you Cleveland homers caught the pre-season games, but Bernie Kosar is also very poor in the booth.
