edjr 6,580 Posted October 9, 2007 Would have been better for the Sox is the spankees won tonight. they would have had to use fatassia in game 5.
swamp dog 0 Posted October 9, 2007 how many focking double plays is jeter going to hit into in this series--and all in key situations? easily the most overrated player in baseball.
Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted October 9, 2007 Apparently, Don Zimmer was seen at this game earlier. Unfortunately, Tony Gwynn ate him.
GettnHuge 2 Posted October 9, 2007 just like last year. spend enough money to beat up offensively on bad teams and make the playoffs... then get embarrassed by good pitching. Unfortunately they will just buy guys like Santana now.

Voltaire 5,305 Posted October 9, 2007 Baseball is again delivered from evil for another year. The Indians may be divisional rivals and all, but I'd way, way, rather they win than the Yankees. Maybe the Indians can beat LeBron to a championship for championship starved Cleveland.

Don't you watch baseball? That wasn't Jeter's fault. A-Rod didn't pick up the slack for the rest of the team. He's the one that should pay for this miserable demise. Fockin A-Rod. Vince44 205 Posted October 9, 2007 Joe Torre is a great manager and a great guy but it would be justified if the Boss fires him. We need to look at the Yanks since his last World Series title in 00 and keep in mind the massive payroll they have had ever since and the small market and low payroll teams that have beaten them. The Yanks have lost in the NLDS three years in a row to the Angels, Tigers, and Indians. The Yanks haven't won a playoff series since 04. The biggest choke job in sports history in 04 ALCS where they blew a 3-0 lead and lost Game 7 at home and saw Red Sox celebrate. NY lost the 03 WS to the Marlins. NY were upset by the Angels in 02 ALDS dropping three straight after winning Game 1. What have you done for me lately as Janet Jackson would say...and the Yanks haven't even gotten to a WS since 03. Managers get way too much credit when a team wins and way too much blame when a team loses.

Look at big picture here. Torre has been manager for 12 years and has made the playoffs every year. On average, he's made the World Series 1 of every 2 seasons. On average, he's won the World Series 1 of every 3 seasons. Blah blah blah, money, blah blah blah, superstars...who's going to be better for this team?
