There's a suspicion that they'll give us the afternoon off.

I'm not sure.

Hope so.

I like to celebrate my Good Fridays with a hellacious meat barbecue!!

I see you were raised Catholic too. Nothing better than a nice juicy steak to make a real "Good Friday"

It is a vacation day for my company, but I have to work from 7 to 7. I think I get paid for 26 hours straight time or something silly like that.

YES! Just got the note 4:54 CST from our Corporate Office in Beverly Hills - Off at 1:00 tomorrow.

This is typical for our corp office. It's only 3 there, so what do they care? Pretty much everybody in the eastern time zone is already home. They have no idea that they have a half-day tomorrow. I'm sure some of them would have liked to have even a little notice to arrange something. Still it's a nice treat, so I'm not complaining!!

uh, people with jobs...good friday is not recognized as a holiday, not even a friendly mention. i'd need to just take a vacation day if i wanted the day off.

Nice try. Many places do not give MLK day off. Federal holidays often do not have a religious affiliation as part of the separation of Church and State. You indicated that "people with jobs" don't get the day off, when in reality, there are a lot of people with real jobs who get the day off AND there are lots of people with real jobs who don't get MLK day off.

BTW - Columbus Day? Case closed.

i didn't say that people with jobs don't get the day off.

the question was, "who has to work tomorrow?" and i answered people with jobs and IIIIII would need to take a vacation day in order to get that day off.

i'm not obama, don't try to twist my words!!

No. Not everyone with a job has to work tomorrow. Read the focking thread. There are folks that get the day off as a holiday. You said, "uh, people with jobs...good friday is not recognized as a holiday, not even a friendly mention. i'd need to just take a vacation day if i wanted the day off."

You said that it is not a holiday or even is mentioned. I asked about MLK day and you listed Federal holidays which are explicitly forbidden to be religious holidays. There are quite a few folks who get the day off who are gainfully employed. If some are fortunate enough to get that many holidays, then more power to them.

I don't need to twist your words in order to convey anything. You do a fine job on your own.

Same holidays here but we usually get let out early on Fridays of a holiday weekend and when Xmas or July 4th fall on a Thursday or a Tuesday they will give us an extra day off to make it a 4 day weekend.

We used to get Good Friday off. They swapped the day after Thanksgiving for Good Friday several years back. Seems like a valid trade to me, but some are calling it collusion. Thoughts?
