wiffleball 4,645 Posted March 20, 2008 YES! Just got the note 4:54 CST from our Corporate Office in Beverly Hills - Off at 1:00 tomorrow. This is typical for our corp office. It's only 3 there, so what do they care? Pretty much everybody in the eastern time zone is already home. They have no idea that they have a half-day tomorrow. I'm sure some of them would have liked to have even a little notice to arrange something. Still it's a nice treat, so I'm not complaining!!

peenie 1,690 Posted March 21, 2008 Do you get MLK Day off? i get the same holidays that the rest of the united states gets: Tuesday, January 1 New Year's Day Monday, January 21 Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. Monday, May 26 Memorial Day Friday, July 4 Independence Day Monday, September 1 Labor Day Thursday, November 27 Thanksgiving Day Thursday, December 25 Christmas Day i don't see march 21 edited because i did a lazy copy and paste. Many places do not give MLK day off. Federal holidays often do not have a religious affiliation as part of the separation of Church and State. You indicated that "people with jobs" don't get the day off, when in reality, there are a lot of people with real jobs who get the day off AND there are lots of people with real jobs who don't get MLK day off. BTW - Columbus Day? Case closed.

No. Not everyone with a job has to work tomorrow. Read the focking thread. There are folks that get the day off as a holiday. You said, "uh, people with jobs...good friday is not recognized as a holiday, not even a friendly mention. i'd need to just take a vacation day if i wanted the day off." You said that it is not a holiday or even is mentioned. I asked about MLK day and you listed Federal holidays which are explicitly forbidden to be religious holidays. There are quite a few folks who get the day off who are gainfully employed. If some are fortunate enough to get that many holidays, then more power to them. I don't need to twist your words in order to convey anything. You do a fine job on your own.
