remote controller 143 Posted May 30, 2008 I will be on the road from 5:45 P.M. central to about 7:00 P.M.. I will have my sheets with me, but will likely have no reception till about 6:45. Give me a few to catch up and I will select when I get caught up.

Vikings4ever 550 Posted May 31, 2008 I needed a RB (don't like the ones that should be there at the next turn). Mendenhall should be getting the goal line looks, and has great potential if FWP gets hurt.

robb 81 Posted May 31, 2008 in the "for what it's worth" department, living in the Denver suburbs, Cutler gets a lot of "press" and it is all good. Don't worry about his Type II Diabetis, it's manageable and he won't even be wearing a pump during games, etc. He has more and better receivers than he has ever had (D. Jax going to be the #2) and it's his 3rd year, so I expect very very good things from him. Plus, he has just a good enough running game that teams will have to play the run a bit-better for passing game. Oh, and did I mention they drafted a rookie gaurd with the #12 pick who will start from day one! Any thoughts from the "peanut gallery"??

I just looked and 3 people still need Qb's who pick before you twice, so it is a risk, but I think he would ride.

That's why I picked him now RC-3 people and I would be willin' to bet one of the 3 would have taken him. Then, I would be stuck with a choice between injured 2007 QBs and E. Manning. I was simply not willing to take that chance when I already had my 3 RBs and 3 WRs picked. Would be curious if he makes it thru the 8th round from others. Da Bomb 0 Posted May 31, 2008 well. that one is certainly a punch to the gut. i didnt think i had to worry about anyone going after jay cutler any time soon. in fact i was actually trying to decide if he should be my pick at 7.4 or if i should think about waiting until the 8.9 to grab him. jay cutler is my #5 QB. i have him roughly 1 ppg less than tony romo and drew brees. i think hes in for a big breakout year and was already on his way last year, plus you dont really notice, but he gets you a nice little rushing bonus to boost -- 200+ yards and probably a couple TDs. you may not think thats much but its probably about 2 ppg, the equivalent of an extra 40 passing yards every game, or 650 yards over the season. anyway i waited on him part out of confidence that i must be crazy and no one else liked him that much, and part because i took marshall already and thats a lot of eggs in what is considered a very shaky basket by most. in fact i almost passed on marshall for exactly that reason. hmm, what to do now... decisions, decions... Da Bomb 0 Posted May 31, 2008 i know im going to get killed for not having a rb, but im trying to pick my team based off of how i'd do it in a real draft, not trying to make a team that looks pretty on paper. im quite aware that im not going to "win" the good looks mock. some people have strategies that do that well every year, but its not my style. right now i have 9 QBs all bunched pretty close, within 1 ppg of each other. theres one thats actually a full ppg ahead but i think i can get him (or her ) next time anyway. its just not value for me to take one here. im surprised at the caliber of WRs still available. i still see 4 of my top 25 available. but none super high and none that scream breakout or trade bait. ahman green is clearly the best RB available in my rankings. he checks in as #24, so the last RB2 on my board. i admittedly dont feel super strong about his talent/health at this stage of his career. *however* if you know fantasy RBs, then you know the name alex gibbs. he is now an assistant coach on that squad. so some RB whoever it is will start and do well for houston. ahman green was actually good for two games last year before he got hurt, and hes always a good receiver. at the very least, its a good rb3 i can be happy with and imo much better upside than some of these rookie flyers, but to each his own. i played the long waiting game on RB and ended up with a trio of guys no ones going to get excited about, but all of whom will put up their quiet boring numbers imo. Da Bomb 0 Posted May 31, 2008 i was surprised curtis was still there. im not that high on him but it seems like others are, enough that he ought to have been gone by mid 7th in a 3 WR league. like i said, im still surprised at the caliber of WR available at this point. there are still a handful of guys that qualify as solid WR2s by my rankings.
Jetdoc 20 Posted May 31, 2008 I had Curtis tabbed with my pick, but had him even with two other WR's (Cotchery being one of them). I decided to take Cotchery due to his upside...he's clearly become Clemens' favorite target, and Clemens started to settle down a bit towards the end of last year. I really struggled with not taking another guy, but meh...I figured I'd take a risk on upside here.
Da Bomb 0 Posted May 31, 2008 cotchery is another one of those WRs i was surprised to be there, and hes the one i wouldve probably taken had i needed a WR at 7.4. hes #21 in my rankings. though i dont see the "upside" you propose. hes as much of a steady 1000-1100 yards guy and a smattering of TDs as they come. im not sure i see the upside, he seems like the opposite to me -- a safe low end WR2, a great WR3. I agree with you on the yardage Bomb, but I do think Crotch will have more TDs... I'm projecting 6-7. So I don't know how much "upside" that is but I do see some room for improvement. So I don't know how much "upside" that is but I do see some room for improvement. fwiw, i have him at 1065 yards and 6 TDs in my projections, and that is what puts him at #21 in my rankings. also in a PPR league, cotchery has been the #20 WR in each of the past two years. dude catches a lot of passes. coles just went, another guy i figured would go around here. looks like this is the time all of those older boringer veteraner guys are going to go. Jetdoc 20 Posted May 31, 2008 Yes, I might be looking through Green-colored-glasses, but you have to remember that Clemens basically took the reigns from Pennington in mid 2007. It really started to "click" for Clemens as the season went along, and with his improvement, so did Cotchery's numbers. With a full year of Clemens, I think Cotchery has much better prospects for this year. Will he be a top 10 WR? No. Will he improve over last year's numbers? Most definitely. The only question is how many TD's he will get compared to Coles (as possession WR). To me, Cotchery has Lee Evans potential from a couple of years ago. Da Bomb 0 Posted May 31, 2008 just cuz its boring doesnt mean its good. i like a lot of these WR picks better than a bunch of the "flashier" WRs earlier or some of the unproven RBs lately.

He is my #20 wideout, and I am thrilled he made it here. I have him with numbers like the wideouts chosen in round 5. This is his 2nd year with McNabb and that can only enhance his results. I have him slated for 75 catches for 1100, and 7 to 8 td's.
remote controller 143 Posted May 31, 2008 Coles is a pretty boring pick- agreed. I wanted Curtis here. Coles still led Cotch by a wide margin in redzone targets. I see Cotch with more ypc, but Coles with more catches and a few more td's. They are back to back on my list with Coles on top.

Da Bomb 0 Posted May 31, 2008 engram, another one of those good cagey solid vet picks. he and cotch were basically tied in my mind, good 1100/6 options. theyre both in my top 25 and make for perfect WR3s.
Vikings4ever 550 Posted May 31, 2008 I'm kind of doubtful on Engram. Yes, he quietly put up excellent numbers last year. Yes, he could be the top target in Seattle (Branch is inconsistent, at best). Yes, Seattle has a very good passing game. BUT... He's 35. Last year was the only time in his 13 NFL years he's put up 1,000 yards (although he's come close a couple other times). His career high TDs is 6, done twice. He's played 16 games in a year 6 times. He's a good player, contributes on offense and special teams, someone I'l like on my football team, but not someone I'd want for my fantasy team.

Yep, check out where Bobby finished in your leagues last year in overall WR scoring...you might be surprised. Now he just neends to get into camp and end his holdout. I am pretty sure he will be there sometime...he is a pro and takes good care of himself. He also rebounded nicely from a serious disease not to long ago. NAn 39 Posted June 1, 2008 I'm with V4E on Engram...yes had a good year, but yes, 35 and only 1000+ yard season he's ever had in a 12 season career was last year. No local news on Walker or anything significant with any Raiders. I have to agree with Fumble...paid way too much. Another situation where I just don't like the move, but hoping that it somehow pans out. I went with Berrian...thoughts? He meets my criteria for a breakout wr for this year with 71/951/5...decent numbers IMO especially considering the mess at the QB position in Chicago. And despite that situation currently still unsettled see Berrian making the leap to next level...and even if he doesn't expect him to at least hold those numbers making him a solid #3 WR.
robb 81 Posted June 1, 2008 You indicated Berrian is a WR with Chicago-isn't he now with Minnesota? Or, did you simply have a drunken moment and type in Chicago??
JScott 20 Posted June 1, 2008 7.10 Bernard Berrian WR, CHI You can't draft him if you don't know what team he plays for I was actually drooling seeing all these other WRs come off the board with the hope that Berrian (MIN) would fall to me... then I knew NAn would take him
