Gepetto 1,454 Posted July 11, 2008 Packers | Favre update Published Fri Jul 11 5:56:21 p.m. CT 2008 (KFFL) Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports the Green Bay Packers have no intention of releasing QB Brett Favre, according to sources. Sources say the team is prepared to welcome Favre back to the team as a backup to QB Aaron Rodgers. The Packers would likely trade Favre before releasing him, sources have stated. Favre informed the team that he wanted to play again in late March during the NFL Owners Meeting, according to sources, who have spoken to FOXSports.com. Head coach Mike McCarthy and general manager Ted Thompson agreed that Favre has what it takes to play again and were going to charter a jet to Mississippi to announce that Favre would be back in 2008. Two days before the announcement, Favre notified McCarthy that he changed his mind and wanted to remain retired. Team officials were shocked at Favre's decision to stay retired but decided to move on and head into the NFL Draft, with the team drafting QB Brian Brohm and QB Matt Flynn. A few weeks ago, Favre sp oke with the team via phone and said that he wanted to play again. The team had already decided to move on with QB Aaron Rodgers expected to be the starting quarterback. What a focking moron the packers GM is. Nice idea asking your HOF Qb, because of you your team over-achieved last year, to sit while you wasted 4 picks on QBs and hence now want one of them to start because you suck. How can any sane person think Aaron Rodgers gives the team a better chance to win than Favre is beyond me. Oh, wait, this is all Lies....signed homer d!ck shonuff!!!! First of all...Favre is already under contract and they don't need him to "sign". 2nd...he has already mentored Rodgers for 3 years...despite the one comment that was taken too far about him mentoring Rodgers...he had a very good working relationship with him over the years. Do some searches and you will see plenty of Aaron Rodgers telling you how much Favre helped him and worked with him. So once again...another ignorant comment from the resident moron... Gepetto 1,454 Posted July 12, 2008 My opinion on the best approach for the Packers to take: So far, I think they're doing just fine by telling Favre he won't be released and that if he files the papers to be taken off the retired/inactive list with the NFL, then he will be welcomed back as the #2 QB. I think he'll be in Green Bay as the #2 at first until he proves he's committed. I wouldn't declare him the #1 until after the 3rd game of the pre-season if I was the Packers. Favre sort of deserves that anyway and I feel it would be the most appropriate course to get the best out of both QBs and the team. Also, if somehow Aaron Rodgers plays great and Favre throws INTs in practice and pre-season then Aaron Rodgers would actually deserve to start instead of just being handed the job b/c Favre left. donhaas 19 Posted July 13, 2008 Well, whatever happens with the Green Bay quarterback situation, the Packers are still returning a 13-3 team and are the youngest in the league and getting better.A little off-season drama in Green Bay does give my boring life a little temporary excitement, but in no way increases the Lions 7 winning seasons over the last 50 years nor does it erase the fact that my Lions have only won one playoff game in that same half century... Well said, sampy.... You have become a gentleman and a scholar over the off-season

Favre is pretty much a selfish immature drama queen who thinks the world should revolve around him. The only part you got wrong though is that he is the past. Rodgers isn't the future of anything and Favre is still a QB that can play at a very high level, hence why managment will most likely cave in because they are in a no win situation with the fans, thanks to the aforementioned drama queen. If Favre did have problems with management and wanted to play elsewhere he should have been man enough to request that from the get go rather than play this lying game of retirement. Jim Sorgi? Come on...that is not even comparable. Sorgi was not selected in the last few years of Manning's career as his successor...has not waited 3 years to get the starting job. He was a 6th round pick that they probably hoped might be backup material some day. That said...its TT's fault for some of how he handled things (and both need to get off of the cameras and just sit down and talk for once)...but Brett is doing what people have blamed him for doing for years. His whines are that TT did not listen to him on GM decisions. The only argument he said last night that had any merit was that TT was saying one thing to the media while telling Favre another about Moss. But by all indications, TT's actions have the full blessing of the executive committee. TT did not chase Favre away...Favre ran away.

sanders 0 Posted July 15, 2008 If the Packers are in a tough spot no doubt - if you want to move on trade him to an AFC team for whatever you can get and be done with it. They are stupid if they do that though because if Aaron Rodgers is even just average the fans will be all over them, if he is bad they will never hear the end of it. Let's say they bring back Favre as the #2. Can you imagine what the fans will be like? Aaron Rodgers will go down in flames, every bad pass will be boo'ed relentlessly, the fans will be chanting Favre the whole time. It would be the worst possible situation for Aaron Rodgers to try and start his career with - the pressure would be insane. So IF Aaron Rodgers is their guy and they want to move on then having Favre there is not an option.
