titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted April 15, 2009 I will report on the Nashville edition of the tea party, as I can see it from my office. There seem to be, oh, maybe 100 people out there (legislative plaza), with signs, and a bunch of people driving around honking their car horns. Pretty tame really. Anybody else seen any others? I don't think you can count very well...because there are well more than 100 people down there. Drove by on my way back from lunch and could tell there were a lot more people than that. Though, funny that they are protesting Federal spending and taxes in front of the state capital (more room I guess).

Well, I don't have a very good angle to the plaza, and its been an hour or so since I looked. I can tell you they are making a hell of a racket with the airhorns, roaring, and car horns though. Yeah, I have a buddy who does some contract work for the state and is in the building on top of TPAC...he sent me this pic from his phone. http://i679.photobucket.com/albums/vv152/s...77/teaparty.jpg

I can't speak for that tea party but not all of them are focused on only federal taxes. The tea parties in CA, for example, are a protest as much if not more so for a bunch of ballot initiatives that are going to be voted on next month as they are for federal taxes. jgcrawfish 232 Posted April 15, 2009 San Antonio reportedly was having Glenn Beck host his show from the Tea Party here and they were expecting in the neighborhood of 5000 people. Unfortunately, since it is San Antonio, probably 75% of the people down there show up just because it has the word "party" in the title and none have any idea what the term "Tea Party" references. I work in one of the state buildings across from the plaza, and another building blocks the right side of the view, where 80% of the protesters in your pic are. That explains the noise. And the focking dump truck hauling away the sidewalk they are busting up keeps honking his horn. Probably shouldn't be protesting if you are working on a state contract jackass. Where do you think that money came from?

GobbleDog 991 Posted April 16, 2009 People want lower taxes, but they also want the government to fulfill insane promises of social security, medicare and medicaid. Bush exacerbated the problem by adding pharmaceuticals to the list. This country is economically doomed.
redtodd 7 Posted April 16, 2009 There was probably not as many people at these as there are for a typical Liberal rally. These people probably had to take a vacation day from their job to make it there.

I can never understand why they don't do these things on the weekends. Yeah, the 15th is more symbolic, but you'll get a much better turnout when people don't have to be at work.
