The first player you ever drafted?

Recommended Posts

I think it was 1998 or 1999 with a magazine in hand and a late first round pick I chose....

Tony Banks

I think he had like 5 tds in one of his first games. This pick started a nice 4 year run of not making the playoffs.

Interesting question. I'm pretty sure my first pick ever was Steve Young. This was in 1995 I believe, the year after the Niners won the Super Bowl and Young threw for 35 TD's. He then struggled some the following season when I drafted him. I think I took Barry Sanders in the 2nd round. BUT I may just be mixing some of the first couple years together, I'm not sure. This was 13 or 14 years ago and I was only 13 or 14 at the time.

'97 I think - Brett Favre #1 overall right before Barry Sanders. Eventually traded him straight up for Terrelle Davis in what would stand to be the BIGGEST TRADE EVER.

I could never forget - Terrell Davis. The year he was the consensus #1 pick, then immediately blew-out his knee

2001, I picked D. Culpepper 6th overall. I ended up winning the championship with the help of some rookie scrub name LT.

I was new to an established league...had the number 4 pick. Took Drew Bledsoe, the year he seperated his shoulder early on. Still made the playoffs and ended up 4th for the year. Had some players that happened to have super, maybe even career years:

Scott Mitchell/Herman Moore (they connected like crazy that year)

Rhett (he was good for 100 & 1TD ever week)

Eric Metcalf (was listed as a RB but was really a WR that year...double points in that league)

Had a few more players that really did good that year, but I lost those brain cells quite some time ago.

In 1992 I had the Warren Moon to Haywood Jeffries connection. I think Moon was my #1, not sure about Haywood.

First year I played was '96. Forget who I took first but I know I had Steve Young, Jerome Bettis, Dorsey Levens, and Wesley Walls.

1999, Brett Favre.

I remember I also had:

Dorsey Levens

Ricky Williams (rookie year)

Keyshawn Johnson

Herman Moore

Michael Westbrook

For some reason I either lost in the championship game, or the game before that. Basic Yahoo league.

I remember having Tony Banks for that 5 TD game. It was my 2nd or third year of FF. It was the same season the Ravens won the SB. He was my backup QB, possibly to Favre again.

I took Peyton manning, Anonio Freeman, and Marshall Faulk with my first three picks in 1999. I didn't do so hot even though Faulk blew up that year thanks to a quirk in our scoring.

1999 - Stephen Davis.

You drafted Davis in the first round in 1999 when the year before he started 12 games and had 34 carries?

Good question. My first year in FF, I had the first overall draft pick. Being a novice, I chose Kurt Warner over Marshall Faulk--to the elation of the guy drafting second. Marshall proceeded to put up obscene stats, sometimes outscoring whole teams by himself. The importance of RBs was thereby illustrated for me in a way I would not forget.

I had the 11th or 12th pick in a 12 team league and chose Priest Holmes the 1st year he became a major stud in KC. Made it to the championship but lost.

Mid '90s. It was Emmit Smith. It was the one year he totally blew a$$! That was my 1st ever league, and the only time I have not made the playoffs.

Kordell Stewart, whichever year he tore it up in Pittsburgh.

ETA: 1997

Funny thing is, when I googled 'Kordell Stewart' to get this info, the first option that comes up is 'Kordell Stewart sexuality'

I don't know, but he was sure fockin' some guys in my league that year!

My first year was about 10 years ago, here are my first few picks ...

DCulpepper (heavily laughed at for drafting QB 1st round)

RMoss (more laughter my way ... for not getting an RB first 2 rounds)

PHolmes

AGreen

Yeah, I had the last laugh ... never lost a game and DOMINATED .. probably best team EVA.

I thought after this first year that this fantasy game was easy ... found out, not so much.
