Julius Peppers & Chester Taylor

Recommended Posts

I didnt name any recent guys because I figured you were paying aatn to football by then...

drew brees ok?

juts because you rehash everything you read in the milwaukee journal doesnt make you the biggest packers fan...quit lecturing..i get the JS also..big deal..

chester going to chic simply opens the door to tomlinson going to minny...yikes...

I was paying attention long before you think I was.

You did not name any recent guys because you could not think of any.

BTW...Brees signed 11 days after free agency started...was courted by very few teams and was a huge risk with the shoulder injury.

That is as close as you can come.

BTW...I don't rehash everything I read there...its one source of mine...I have many others.

Nobody claimed it makes me the biggest Packer fan...Im lecturing because it was you who tried to bash me and when I started being a fan...and you are, IN FACT, a Seahawks fan who tries to pretend to be a Packers fan when its convenient to you.

I guess the retarded seahooker fans do not realize that their franchise is never really looked upon by anyone as worth going to....

“I’m happy to be here. It’s one thing to play football in this league and make a living. But it’s a totally different thing to come to a place with a great tradition and rich football culture like the Bears.”

<_<

Bears get HOF DEs & the best DE in the league like Peppers .... seahookers get rejects like Marshall who are one incident away from being out of the league

Good signings, considering they have NO draft this year.

Olsen to NE please. Brady will light his ass up.

OTOH of these signings...as if I NEEDED another reason TO NOT draft Forte!

Wow...he shot some sunshine up your ass and you bit.

BTW...he is not the best DE in the league...and you laughing at Marshall shows what an idiot you are.

The guy is a freaking stud WR. Rated higher at WR than Peppers is at DE.

http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...&p=11581809

So which is it...laughing about Marshall...or calling him the strength of the Broncos?

Schlereth is bitter because his donkeys gave up on a 25 year old franchise qb to settle for Kyle Orton....and now they are going to give up on Marshall too. Way to dissolve the strength of your team, McDaniels.

Just depends on who you are trying to bash at the time?

Oh...and you can't answer how the best DE in the league does not get in the top 3 in sacks for the past 5 years or so and is not a great run stopper.

Peppers is not the best DE in the league...you are a delusional homer and a completely ignorant moron.

Glad to see rampant homerism is alive and well on the infamous MANGE BORED.

DEs better than Julius Peppers -

Dwight Freeney

Jared Allen

Mario Williams

Are all equal in talent to Peppers and infinitely more focused, as well as being team leaders.

I'd also throw these guys into consideration -

Justin Tuck

Robert Mathis

Shaun Ellis

Will Smith

The last three may not match Peppers' sack numbers on one of his "good" seasons, but they play the run far better than Peppers ever will.

During the season, many people on here were saying Peppers was on the downside of his career, and they didn't want their team going after him. Now he's the Bears' messiah. What happened in the last three months?

I really dont care about message board rankings of defensive ends. he is up there in the top group of DEs in the league is all that matters and will instantly improve the Bears pass rush which was one of the major off season needs.

All thiose mentioned above are great players, so its pointless to say one is ranked here vs there.

For example:

1. All other signings

2. Burleson

Mario WIlliams is good but not as good as Peppers (comparable in sacks and assists; but Peppers has more FF and ints and TDs)....only Freeney and Allen are comparable to Peppers.

Mario has 39.5 sacks in 4 seasons (<10/per season); 42 ast (~10/season); 0 int; 0 TD; 9 FF (~2/season)

Peppers has 81 sacks in 8 seasons (~10/season); 72 ast (~9/season); 6 int; 2 TDs; 30 FF (~4/season)....been to 1 SB and multiple playoff appearances

Freeney has 84 sacks in 8 seasons (~10/season); 28 ast (~3.5/season); 0 int; 0 TD; 36 FF (~4.5/season) .... been to 2 SBs and multiple playoff appearances

Allen has 72 sacks in 6 seasons (12/season); 51 ast (~8.5/season); 2 int; 0 TDs; 21 FF (~3.5/season) .... been to 0 SB and 1 playoff appearance

The others? Justin Tuck? Robert Mathis? Will Smith? :music_guitarred:  :LOL

You keep believing that.... he has not had the talent around him on D like Urlacher; Briggs; Tommie H etc either since the Panthers let Kris Jenkins go, their LB got injured (cannot remember name) etc

PLease entertain us with how the Lions will sweep the Bears this year when the Bears have been owning their sorry azzes for ever.

if you're counting on a has-been like urlacher, you might as well go all the way and dig up halas. on second thought...mcmahon is probably a better qb RIGHT NOW than cutler so you might want to give him a call.

Thanks, I guess (for the functioning brain part).............

I'm actually an SF fan, but I think the moves were good for the Bears considering the uncapped season. I just thought it was foolish to say Chicago would go 0-16.......

Anyway, I'll depart this thread and stay out of it..............

He is old and with lots of injuries recently (just see last year) and clearly the fudgepackers overpaid for him, but he is better than anyone else the fudgepackers could have gotten in FA this year IMO. But they were desperate to do this..... they do not want to see their fragile QB get his head beaten in to the tune of another David Carr like season thanks to Jared ALlen, Julius Peppers and Vandensbosch.

Your OC is Mike Martz. :overhead: I think you should probably be worrying about Cutler's head getting beaten in. Martz has left a wake of QB's who've gotten their heads beaten in from his offensive genius.

Are these the same fudgepackers that Lovie has a better head to head record against? The same fudgepackers who last went to the SB in 1998 while the Bears were there just a few years back? The same fudgepackers who just gave up an embarassing 51 points in the playoffs? The same fudgepackers who the Bears have a better head tohead record against overall, and this is despite the Wanny and Jauron years for the Bears?

Like Walter said, knock yourself out skippy :overhead: :music_guitarred:

How far in the past do we need to go for it to be convenient for you?

The 2009 Packers and Bears went in very different directions. We saw the desperate move for a QB in Chicago that didn't work out so well. Now we're seeing more desperate moves from the Bears. Adding Martz (because everyone else turned them down) and spending like crazy, all in an effort to chase the Packers and the Vikings.

What did the Bears do in the playoffs this past year that makes you feel okay to mock the Packers?

The Packers are in great shape for the present and future. Do you feel safe in saying that about the Bears?

It is going to be very entertaining watching the Cutler/Martz marriage this year.

I actually like the Bears, always have. But I'm not a big fan of the Martz hiring. I think he'll ruin that team and the organization will be making wholesale changes next year. JMO.

When you cherry pick stats they do.

How about as an all around player...those guys are simply better.

How many times has Peppers been in...say the top 3 in sacks the past 5 years? Top 5?

Now, how many times have those I mentioned been in there?

But go ahead and call him top 2 or the best DE in the league again and prove how dumb you are.

Best you can come up with is Lovie's record against them?

How about last year?

Wow...last "went" to the SB is now your measuring stick?

Last Bears title came when? 1985...

51 points to Arizona...who scored 41 against the Bears...a Bears team that barely got to 30 against GB in 2 games total.

Are you a Zona fan?

12 titles...3 SBs...knock yourself out skippy...

You are just putting out your opinion on all of this, so yours is in no way more valid that his.

I would debate the point about Allen being better. he is pretty one dimaentional as a pass rusher.

Regardless, Peppers is in the mix of the top DEs in the game which is all that really matters. message baord people calling him 1st or 5th matters how? He will have a strong positive impact on the pass rush and Bears D as a whole. I don't think this point can be debated.

For my opinion, I like Mario Williams as the best and then it gets muddy with a next group of 4 or 5 players, all of which are difference makers on their teams.

Your buddy donhaas likes to go back to 1992 to summarize his stats. He likes to conveniently hide the last 5 years or the 80s in his stat summaries.

You say how about last year and then mention a bunch of SB titles from the 20s when they didn't wear helmets or know what a forward pass was.

We all craft stats to suit our arguments. You, Don, sweatmeat and me. Swampy has a little trouble because his calculator hasn't found a favorable stat yet, but he is thinking about adding more ram and diskspace to help him out.

The Packers have no OL and their secondary is getting old and will be injured (look at Harris last year; Woodson is on his last legs too); packers have no pass rush .... watch Warner picking apart the packers to the tuen of 51 points....where was the pass rush?

Sure...a lot is my opinion...but much of it based on the numbers...and seeing all of them play.

But yes...my opinion is far more valid than sweetmeats will ever be.

Just look at the Kampman thread where he claimed Ogunleye is/was a better DE than Kampman ever was.

Peppers is pretty one dimensional at this point too...and Allen is a better pass rusher.
