Samuel Adams Beer?

Recommended Posts

I hear the seasonal stuff is really good. Sam Adams is one of the few beers I can tolerate. Guiness tops my list. I can't stand anything out of a can unless I'm shotgunning it. I dunno...guess I haven't really deadened my taste buds enough yet to be part of the cool crowd.

Pretty sure the original "Boston Lager" hasn't changed so unless your palette has changed I don't see why you'd like it better this time around. Personally, I like Sam Adams. Haven't been blown away by the seasonals but I've only tried a couple of those.

A couple of the seasonals are really good, especially the Octoberfest and the Summer Ale.

Oktoberfest, Summer Ale, and the White Ale are all good. I hate fruity beers, but I kinda like the Cherry Wheat too.

Sam Adams I don't think is intended to blow anyone away. Least not their regular lager. However, it's far better than the other rice based sh!t beers like coors light, bud, miller etc etc etc.

The seasonals are hit and miss but I like that they are trying new things. Octoberfest is and always will be the best octoberfest beer out there IMO. It's just a fantastic brew. The others are OK(except the summer lager--I don't like fruit or other extracts in my brew). The Noble Pils was decent, but lacked something.....

Never had Sam Adams light, I heard as far as light beer goes it's pretty decent.

As a bostonite, i feel like i need to defend a solid beer company...

the boston lager itself im not a huge fan of, I much prefer a bass, or a harp, or even a smithwicks if i am going for a medium bodied beer for enjoyable drinking...

Now Sam Light is hands down the best light beer in production... Outstanding.

Sam Summer is also an excellent beer if you enjoy hefeweisens like blue moon, shocktop, paulaner...etc... its a little heavier, but a great warm weather beer...

I just had their brick something microbrew, it is supposed to compete with killians, it was a reddish color, not bad, not mindblowing...

We sell seasonal on tap and light in a bottle.

People that drink it love it, but it's not a huge seller.

75% of our beer sales is bud light bottles

Yeah I agree, alot of that sh!t is ass. I drink the lager, Winter and Summer. It's good beer, among many other choices of good beer that exist today.

I'd like to hear what beers people enjoy that call Sam Adams crap.

I'm more shocked that people that visit edjr's bar drink almost exclusively Bud Light. Wouldn't think that his bar would attract people with sh!tty tastes.

I'm shocked it isn't Pabst Blue Ribbon, or Meisterbrau, maybe Mickeys on tap... Didn't think deadbeats drank budlight...

PBR is actually the "in" thing up in the NE. Edjr should serve Keystone Ice and Natural Light.

the day people with no jobs drink PBR on tap, 2 bucks for 16 oz

the night people with jobs drink bud light bottles, 3 bucks 12 oz

We have a local brewery right in Gloucester called Cape Ann Brewery that is pretty popular around these parts too.

I tried the Samuel Adams stout recently and it was ok. Guiness is better. Regular Samuel Adams is alright, but not quite worth the price IMO.

Does it really matter what drink edjr serves after he slips you the date rape drug?

The higher alcohol content of the ice beers help to kill the hiv in edjr's semen that he pumps into you while you're passed out.

Overall, of the ones I've tried, I'd rank them:

1. Oktoberfest

(Fantastic brew. One of my all-time favorites and, consistently, one of the best out there.)

2. Boston Lager

(Pretty basic beer but very accessible. One of my favorite casual-drinking beers.)

3. Cream Stout

(First Sam Adams brew I tried. Big fan. Just don't drink too many of them.)

4. Summer Ale

(Pretty good summer brew, though I'd rather drink Bell's Oberon.)

5. Black Lager

(Only had it once or twice but remember really liking it. Should try it again.)

6. Cherry Wheat

(Normally not a fan of fruit-specific beers. But this one's OK for a change-up.)

7. Noble Pils

(My bar has this on-tap right now. Not bad but not great either.)

8. Winter Lager

(Good for a single change-up. Too heavy for casual drinking though.)

9. Hefeweizen

(Very average. Give me a Paulaner instead.)

10. Honey Porter

(Meh. Not bad but not memorable either.)

11. Boston Ale

(Meh. Not bad but not memorable either.)

12. Brown Ale

(Not a fan, though I'm not a big fan of brown ales in general.)

13. Blackberry Witbier

(One of the worst beers I've ever tried. Hated it.)

Cream stout is a gay name for a beer. Just sayin.

I like the way the word cream rolls off of your lips.

Sam Adams biers are enjoyable, middle of the road biers with a decent price point. i like that they play with more styles than most companies...... but there are too many better biers out there in the same price point (or a little higher) to warrant me buying them. i'll usually only buy it if it's on tap with no better option.

I agree with this list but I would put cream stout under Octoberfest. Also, I really like Boston Ale.

Oberon and Two Hearted and two of my favorite.

Oberon is bar none one of the best warm-weather beers out there. Pour it in a tall cold glass with an orange slice. Good stuff. Two-Hearted is OK but I'm not crazy about it. Bit too floral/perfumey for me; but, then again, I know a lot of people who really like it.

The only other Bell's beers I've tried are Third Coast Beer and Kalamazoo Stout. Both were pretty good but not as good as Oberon, IMO.

Oberon is overrated, overpriced, swill. And any beer that you need or want to add a focking piece of fruit to isn't beer.

2 Hearted is good. And Bell's cream stout is fantastic.

Yeah...I don't get the orange slice in beer. But ain't nothing wrong with a lime in a Corona/Pacifico.....the only time fruit is accepatable in my opinion.

As far as really good warm weather beer, you can't go wrong with Land Shark.

This too is unacceptable. Nothing more than advertising/hype. A beer should be able to stand on it's own without adding anything. If you have to put sh!t in it, it isn't good beer.

I believe limes and citrus fruits were originally added to beers that were skunky and poor tasting; the lime created a "less skunky" odor/taste... basically the beer was so bad it had to be drowned out by a citrus flavoring.

it's sort of retarded anyway, people don't squeeze the lime, they just drop it in.

The lime adds something to the taste of the beer. Especially if you're eating hot, spicy food.....I think a cold Pacifico with lime is not only acceptable, it should be encouraged. This is only the case with bottled beer however. When drinking pints, the beer ought to stand on its own....I agree with that.

And to edjr's point, I squeeze my lime on the inside of the bottleneck. Seriously, how can you not?
