mobb_deep 921 Posted August 17, 2010 Long and short... Been in a 150$ 3 player keeper with friends for 5 years. League has no WW on weekends. FA's stay open and people can add/drop whoever the want throughout the weekend. I've been trying to change this for the last 4 years. Called several votes... explained to the commish how bush league it is etc etc... Again I bring it up this year and receive the same response. ETA; Another guy quit (unrelated reason) and they were looking for a replacement. I told them not to bother because I'd rather just leave too (turning it into a 10 team league). Told the commish (my buddy) I was out. D-Bag?

madd futher mucker 36 Posted August 17, 2010 Yes, i think the time to tell him you are out was well before training camps started. At this point, you didn't give your buddy very much time to find a replacement.

Did you give them any notice you might be dropping the league if the rules didn't change? It is a little late for an owner to jumpship this close to ff drafts. I bet they are pissed off at you right now. I would only lose 1 nights sleep over this though. 2 sleepless nights is waaaay too much:)

I told them not to bother because I'd rather just leave too (turning it into a 10 team league). A little less dooshy? I just don't want me and my buddy to have issues over it. I like the guy a lot... I just think his league sucks.
Portis26 0 Posted August 17, 2010 dooshy imo not a big deal
madd futher mucker 36 Posted August 17, 2010 MUCH less dooshie. The other guy leaving gave u an easy out IMO. Nothing wrong with a 10 team league.
jocstrap 8 Posted August 17, 2010 less dooshy now that you added more info 10 is better than 11 in fantasy football leagues:)
fantasymind 1 Posted August 17, 2010 The most unodouchey thing you could do would be to offer the following compromise: -If they do not find a replacement for the other dropped owner, you will kindly bow out and they can play as a ten teamer or -If they do find a replacement for the other owner, you will honor your commitment and play out this season, with the understanding that it will be your last (unless some changes are made that entice you to stay) Besides, since this league is "bush" by your own admission, isn't the $150 entry fee a small price to pay for winning the league and retiring as champion? bscheibs 8 Posted August 17, 2010 Another way to look at it is, they might be glad to see you go. If you've called several votes for rules changes, called out the league as being "bush" etc., you might be a little too high maint. in his eyes and the rest of the league. Could be win, win for both sides.
iglehart 0 Posted August 18, 2010 Question? I am not clear about the WW. Are you saying that all FA at the start of games on Sunday stay FA and only dropped players go on the waiver wire? If so why is this bad? It gives the owners who watch and make quick pickups an advantage.
yostevo 0 Posted August 18, 2010 Meh, you know the saying, if the shoe don't fit, it must be dooshy. That's not all that bad. Try being a commish and having to kick a friend out because he wouldn't stay competitive if his team would suck. Thennnnnnnnn you feel like a doosh. Also not really. We have a meeting at the end of the season (first round of the NFL playoffs) to do award trophy, hand out cash, drink beer, talk about rules/website/changes, eat food, watch football. People that wait until the last minute to discuss rules should expect people to leave their league if the rules are ghey. This league sounds like it has ghey rules. NorthernVike 2,100 Posted August 18, 2010 2 teams leaving a 12 team 3 keeper league making it a 10 team league and throwing back 6 keepers for the first 6 teams to draft in a 10 team league is kinda dooshy.

It gives an unfair advantage to the guys with no life. That's the problem... the rules of the league should ensure everyone is on an even playing field. If a rule gives an unfair advantage to one or more teams, it's a poorly conceived rule. Another way to look at it is, they might be glad to see you go. Yah, I offered to play it out one more season to not leave anyone hanging, but he said he'd rather me just quit, so he didn't have to find a replacement again next year. cyclone24 1,940 Posted August 18, 2010 Hey all you can do is voice your displeasure at the rules and try to call for votes to change it...which it sounds like you did. Which if the rules you were wanting to change made sense...then i could see some Dbaggery level on your part.....but yeah...WW on the weekends is ridiculous. Gepetto 1,467 Posted August 18, 2010 You are the Barry Sanders of your league. I have no problem with it. Not dooshy. If they change the ww rules on the weekend and beg you to come back and waive half of your league fees and you return, then you're the Favre of your league and you're a complete doosh. redtodd 7 Posted August 20, 2010 Here is Dooshy, Same 8 team keeper league with friends for 10 years. We voted to switch to 10 person league. All but 2 say yes 2+ months before the season starts. We find two new people. We bounce around a ton of ideas on how to implement the addition (i.e. expansion draft, what picks do they get, etc.). One week before the season starts, one of the guys who opposed the 10 person league quits because he doesn't like 10 person leagues and didn't feel the need to quit 2 months before. This is a good friend, too.
