It's an EXCITING Time to be a Seahawks Fan

Recommended Posts

I think there's too many people for Tez to get in.

I think he's one of those guys who'll get lost in the shuffle every year. Then eventually make it in as 1 of the 2 old timers the veterans committee picks every year.

Tonight's the night we're gonna make it happen

Tonight we'll put all other things aside

Get in this time and show me some affection

We're goin' for those pleasures in the night

I want to love you, feel you, wrap myself around you

I want to squeeze you, please you, I just can't get enough

And if you move real slow I let it go

I'm so excited and I just can't hide it

I'm about to lose control and I think I like it

I'm so excited and I just can't hide it

And I know I know I know I know I know I want you

We shouldn't even think about tomorrow

Sweet memories will last for long long time

We'll have a good time, Baby, don't do worry

And if we're still playin' around boy that's just fine

Let's get excited, we just can't hide it

I'm about to lose control and I think I like it

I'm so excited and I just can't hide it

I know I know I know I know I know I want you, I want you

I want to love you, feel you, wrap myself around you

I want to squeeze you, please you, I just can't get enough

And if you move real slow I let it go

I'm so excited, I just can't hide it

Interesting take on Chris Spencer

I know he's a first round bust. But if he was a 3rd or 4th rounder, he'd be great.

I think the guys labeled due to draft position. And due to Ruskell thinking he's smarter than everyone else on the planet, especially Holmgren.

I thought he played a pretty good 2009 until injury took him out.

And I thought he played a fantastic 2010, playing through a broken snapping hand, and snapping lefty.

I think he should be resigned, especially if we're going to stick with Hasselbeck another year or 2. I think they should go hand in hand at this point.

I also think that with a lg and a rt position that needs to be addressed. And possibly even a rg (although I don't believe so) position that needs to get done. We shouldn't be creating any unnecessary holes.

However. I think Cable was one of the best hires we could have ever done. So I'll trust his judgement to see what 5 guys he puts out there. Whoever they may be.

Unless somebody else wants to overpay him I have no problem bringing Spencer back for another 3-4 years. Being a first round pick, it would have been great if he would of developed like a Pouncey, Mack, or Mangold, but despite the criticism he's been a solid starter for 5 years. There aren't a lot of centers that can match his strength and athleticism. Unger would most likely be a downgrade. I was hoping Gibbs could help him realize more of his potential and install a nasty streak in him. Cable could do the same.

Some encouraging points on Tate, via John Morgan:

Which isn't so bad, honestly. We knew Tate was raw, and though his rookie season was a disappointment, it wasn't damning. If you compare Tate to teammate Deon Butler, who turned 25 about a month ago, you can see the difference between disappointing and damning. Now, maybe Butler can turn his career around and become a valuable receiver, but he isn't struggling with recognition, route running or execution. In his short career, Butler has looked overmatched. He isn't promising but mistake prone. Butler looks finished, or polished if you'd rather.

Tate, by contrast, is more than two and half years younger. 125 of his 227 yards receiving were achieved through run after catch. The core abilities that made him intriguing translated to the NFL: quickness, coordination, ability to track the ball in flight, power, but he is frustratingly mistake prone. Tate was so mistake prone, it kept him off the field. If I remember correctly, his rate of blown assignments was something like one in four, as quoted by Carroll. That sloppiness permeated his play. Tate would sometimes run the wrong route. He seemed to have little situational awareness, as evidenced by his somersault against the Chargers. Tate was bumbling even in his finest moments. As a receiver, he is anathema to Matt Hasselbeck.

And, as-is, Tate is anathema to a successful passing attack. Rhythm, timing and spacing are factors in a single goal: completing a pass. Even if a receiver is the nth read, he needs to time his route, space it properly and be synchronized with his quarterback and the greater team. Tate doesn't do that so Tate doesn't see the field. Until he does, it doesn't matter how talented he is. However, young, talented and unrefined is a welcome change from surprisingly old and maxed out. Tate may never fulfill his potential, but he potential is thrilling.

I'm still having trouble with this part. "anathema"

:shocking:

:dunno:

anathema

I appreciate that Morgan is a smart guy, and have nothing against somebody coming off as intelligent and educated...but it's a football blog. Less Dennis Miller please

Puppy-slayer beats out BMW for Comeback player of the year.

3 100 yd games and 2 TDs.

Fat Mike Williams did more damage on the pre-game breakfast buffet than he did on the field.

Is it really a "comeback" when you return from being in prison for two years? Plus wasnt his "comeback" last year? I dont have so much a problem with BMW not winning as I do Vick winning. If Urlacher got it, no big deal.

I guess Plaxico is already the front-runner for the 2011 award. Or perhaps the 2012 award?

Oh wait, I think it was a t-shirt with the Seahawks logo that Ralph was wearing (not a jersey).

If there is no 2011 season wouldnt every NFL player be eligible for the award?

Ralph Wiggum is indeed wearing a Hawks shirt.

Other points of interest:

I find it very funny that Barny from How I Met You Mother wears a Steelers tie.

Urkel makes a great Bears fan.

...NEWMAN! is decked out in Cowboys gear.

I would have enjoyed the commercial more if Joey Gladstone was wearing a Seahawks hat.

Just an FYI for those of you who followed John Morgan at Field Gulls

Saw that last night. It sucks, but I always figured he was destined for bigger and better things. I've only been visiting Fieldgulls reguarly for the past year, wish I would have found it sooner. Definitely my go to source for Seahawks commentary.

That guy was a total douche. His opinions lacked logic, his thoughts were infantile, his knowledge was laughable. I've read more coherent crap by a chimp typing on acid, blindfolded. Or even something Joy Behar said.

I hope he drives off a bridge. And lands on top of an Eagles fan.

If we draft Ryan Leaf. I hope someone assassinates him right on stage, then takes the hat and jersey back.

We need more D-bags

The best teams in the NFL always have one or more of these guys. Baltimore, whose defense is considered top notch for the last couple of seasons, has the great Ray Lewis. The Jets have Rex Ryan, perhaps the best future hall-of-famer for this position. Across the town, New England, who has won four Super Bowls and a perfect season in its prime, had Rodney Harrison and a coach that actually cheats! But nobody could top Pittsburgh in finding the most me-first, scandal heavy, overpaid, trash talking, everyone loves to hate me douchebags, and with Big Ben, Hines Ward, James Harrison and Larry Foote leading the charge, it's no wonder why they are considered one of the most successful franchises in history.

Mallett! :pointstosky:

What are you gonna do when it really is exciting to be a Seahawks fan? Right now it seems as though it would be confusing to be a Seahawks fan!? I did, however, predict the Seahawks to make the playoffs and BAM....I was right.

Next year though, they will not make the playoffs :nono: sorry.

Also, nice win by the Orangemen last night. Fun game.

I know you're all skeptical on Mallett but here's a blurb on him via Pasquarelli.

Could one of those teams he impressed be Seattle? I hope so. Along with that killer arm, he's also a coach's son who clearly understands the nuances of the game. I also had NO problem with how he handled the media. Fock the media, they're the ones perpetuating this "drug-abuse" rumor in the first place. The only documented transgression in his entire college career was a public intoxication charge.

Another pro-Mallett article

Yeah, Im getting a little infatuated. He's a definite risk, but in my opinion a VERY worthy one at 25. If we pass on him and he goes on to star for somebody else it'll bother me his entire career.

The team has many other problems besides QB, but I'm tired of bringing a dull knife to a gun fight. I have full faith that Cable can get the o-line in decent shape. The team lacks a gamebreaker/prototypical #1 WR, but BMW, Obo, Tate, Carlson and Moorah are all quality targets with size. I'm ready to swing for the fences on a guy like Ryan Mallett and let the pieces fall where they may. If he turns out to be another Leaf it wont hurt as bad at the backside of the 1st round.

Im pretty sure they'll end up going d-line in the 1st. Jabal Sheard posted a 4.66 forty time and could be a possible terror out of the Leo. Rob Staton at Seahawksdraftblog.com has us taking him in his most recent mock. I've never heard of the guy, but if journeymen like Clemons and Brock can thrive as pass rushers in our system, imagine what a young athlete could do. Ryan Kerrigan from Purdue also ran a 4.67...and I love hard-working white boys. Both could offer pass rush along with better run-support. Also Justin Houston at 4.63 and 4.64.

If we go for size then Stephen Paea, Muhammad Wilkerson and Phil Taylor are all possibilities that have intrigued me during my very amateur studies.

Not much else going on so I'm ready to digest any thoughts or opinions anybody else might have.

Edited to add Brooks Reed to the list of Leo prospects. Was just checking highlights out on Youtube, mainly the Iowa game. He was impressive.

Agreed. The money he's asking for is alarming though. Hopefully Cable can punch some sense into his face.

I saw that number too. I was hoping that was more of him useing that as his way of getting out of Oakland, than that of what he's actually looking for.

I say get one of those OT prospects ESPN (I know, I know Kiper is a moron) at around our pick as a book end for Okung. With the two ends set for the next 6-8years we can plug and play at guard. Also Hasselbeck is still decent if we can keep him upright, enough to win the west again anyways. Be a nice way to honor his time here too if he wants to retire a Seahawk. Plus if he gets killed we get a nice consolation prize of a shot at Luck or another top QB prospect next year in a draft with more potential at the position (not loving the QB potential in this draft at all, too many underclassmen).

I am really hoping we can spend some cash and get a good Cornerback (I am dreaming of Joseph out of Cincy) and some offensive line help, and then restock the rest through the draft. Do we get to dodge the Final Eight Rule thing, I thought that only applied to last year with the uncapped year. The new CBA (please god, get it done!) will have a cap so that rule will no longer apply right?

I'm good for Pouncey. I also want a GOOD cornerback really bad!!!! Free agent or draft.

I have not done full research on guy's yet, but from what I've seen I think I'm ok with taking Mallet with that late 1st round pick too.

I don't think he's a R. Leaf. He's got just as much of a chance to be a Rodgers as well who dropped in his draft.

I would like to know more about the drug thing though if there EVEN is a thing? But, just because he walked off from the media after he already said he didn't want to talk about it does not bother me one bit. Sure, he could have probably handled it better but he's still young. I'm not that worried about it.

His play on the field is what matters. This might be the ONLY reason he even last's to us because the media is making him look bad. Who cares. But, I have to look at him more still....

BUT, I don't want fing Kolb for our 1st pick. Or Palmer, Or McNabb, Or Orton.

I'd rather have Hass for another year or two. I'm all for giving Whitehurst a full ride to see if he's worth keeping too though.
