Game of Thrones (no spoilers)

How long will HBOs Game of Thrones run?

Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss tell EW that seven is probably the magic number.

It feels like this is the midpoint for us, Benioff says. If were going to go seven seasons, which is the plan, season 4 is right down the middle, the pivot point.

The seven season goal-line has been floated in the media before, but the writer-producers of the acclaimed fantasy hit series says theyre firmer than before that three more seasons sounds about right.

I would say its the goal weve had from the beginning, Benioff says. It was our unstated goal, because to start on a show and say your goal is seven seasons is the height of lunacy. Once we got to the point where we felt like were going to be able to tell this tale to its conclusion, that became [an even clearer] goal. Seven gods, seven kingdoms, seven seasons. It feels right to us.

Seven sounds okay to HBO, as well. Or perhaps eight. Im expecting to be sitting down with Dan and David to talk season 5 and well talk about how things are looking, says HBO programming president Michael Lombardo. Were all very mindful that theyre having conversations all the time with [author George R.R. Martin]. I think they do feel bullish enough that theres enough story to deliver through season 7. I hate to sound greedy, but our longest shows have gone 7 or 8 seasons, so seven is a nice long run for us.

Of course, theres the whole matter of Thrones catching up to Martins source material, since the author has released only five of his planned seven-novel Song of Ice and Fire series. Check out last years exclusive deep dive on the issue of Thrones catching up. Thrones returns to HBO on April 6.

The King Slayer and have one hand?

I just finished Ep9 aka the Red Wedding.

Holy hell.

I won't lie, I'm kind of glad they got rid of that storyline. One of the big problems with GOT is there are too many storylines going on simultaneously. I'm a big fan of the dragon lady and her fvcking hot body.

John Snow. Meh.

Fat guy, poor white trash girl, and baby. Meh.

Robb Stark. Meh.

Gayjoy. Meh.

Redhead lady. Meh.

People who hang out with the fire pit. Meh.

Lannisters.

Dragon Lady.

Dany , Arya, and The Imp have always been the 3 chapters I always like reading the most in the books

I agree Dany is pretty hot.

She is smoking hot and the best story line outside of whatever the Lannisters are doing. Other than that, the rest of the show sucks.

I think that is very ambitious.

Rest of book 3, good chuck of 4/5 this season. Rest of 4/5 next season.

TWOW and ADOS done in 2 seasons? I can't see that happening, especially since there is no way book 7 will be out by the time the 7th season starts. TWOW will be 1500+ pages, I really can't see them doing that in one season. I think 9-10 seasons is more realistic. I mean, why rush something like this? It will be maybe the highest rated show on HBO ever this season.

I'm thinking they might end it someplace before the books. Not sure where that would be, though.

I'll be pissed if they get the ending out of George and it airs before it's published in book form.

These aren't your average fantasy novels. I don't really dig that genre, either, but I  these books.

You should try them.

I remember JK went like 5 years with no harry potter books - then rattled off like 1 every year after that. Maybe Martin will do the same...

That said I think they "should" finish book 3 this season. do Book 4/5 the next 2 seasons.

Fantasy novels are fvcking gay. Honestly, I can't even remember the last fiction I read. I like Dany's t1ts and ass so why would I want to read a fvcking book when I can see them on TV?

I think a prequel movie/season would be awesome. There is a deep, rich, complex history in the GOT world, and it's a shame they barely touch on it in the show. There is a bunch of videos on youtube on the history and lore that I think were extras on the Blurays for the seasons. Here is the first part of 2 or 3 parts. It's over an hour, but I highly recommend anyone into GOT to watch these, because the history of Westeros becomes more and more important as we get deeper into the story:.

I have read them multiple times and it's no way affected my enjoyment of Dany's T&A. :dunno:

Does anyone know how soon itunes gets a season? For example, with Vikings, I paid for the whole season, and get each episode as it airs. Does got do similar?

Otherwise, I need to borrow an hbo to go password.

From what I can tell, it should be the same way. It should be available to watch the day after it airs.

Oh geez, that last scene with Dany and Drogon, um, I hope that's not

after she rode Drogon from the fighting pits and ended up on "Mount Drogon" with him. Even though that was one of the favorite scenes in the entire series

because, I mean, they aren't going to go THAT far in the books, right? Plus it looks like it's by the ocean, so I'm assuming I'm very, very wrong on that.

In trailer # 3, you can see the other 2 dragons are also in that scene with Dany sitting on a rock.

Season 4, Episode 1: Two Swords

Tyrion welcomes a guest to King's Landing. At Castle Black, Jon Snow finds himself unwelcome. Dany is pointed to Meereen, the mother of all slave cities. Arya runs into an old friend.

Season 4, Episode 2: The Lion and the Rose

No description.

Pretty obvious what will make up the bulk of episode 2. I really don't think they'll get into book 4/5 in this season. There are too many things that happen in book 3 and so few scenes over the course of 10 episodes. Not to mention we don't see any of the new characters from books 4/5. From the trailers, it appears to me we might see two things from books 4/5:

-Arya landing across the sea, as she + the Hound only have a few things to do still from book 3.

-Drogon rearing up in front of the shepherd (boy?) with his sheep fleeing.

I'd guess these two things happen very late, ala episode 10, along with Jon's new position and Tyrion + Sansa's big/important scenes.

If you think about it - that's about all one episode can fit in anyway.

Bran will start the season past the wall which happens in book 5, Dany's storyline will definitely go pretty deep in book 5. I don't think the King's landing character's will go much into books 4/5 but a bit. I think the majority of books 4 and 5 will be condensed into next season but by the end of this season will be past all of book 3 and at least the first bits of storylines into books 4 and 5 with Dany's, Bran's and others being well into the books.

This actually shows some new scenes. It seems most of the trailers are just repeating content. DO NOT READ THE COMMENTS, as most of you should already know. I made this mistake before reading the books, and that is a big reason why I decided to read(stumbled on some major spoilers).

pause the video at :10, and look at the bottom of the screen. Um, poor editing? HOLY SH!T, I just realized that is the focking screen shot before the video plays. WOW. I mean, it's obvious to book readers, but I think any non-readers watching that might be able to catch it.

Nice, apparently you can

piece together the entire battle of Meereen by just the sample chapters and others read by GRRM. There is a youtube video of a couple of people doing just this, though I only saw the first bit

. It's going to start off with 2 huge battles and one individual fight. So, it will start with a lot of action. Something to look forward to in another 5 years <_<
