Game of Thrones (no spoilers)

Recommended Posts

I doubt we're getting Strong Belwas.

A quick Google search has indeed confirmed that he has been cut from the show. They keep focking with some of my favorites characters... First they turn Vargo Hoat into Locke, and now this.

I'm also a little annoyed that they've changed the dynamic of Jamie/Cersei. It's supposed to be the other way around- he loses interest in her.

Naturally - he has Brienne now

I bet he rams that whole stump right up in her.

HBO’s ‘Game Of Thrones’ Renewed For Fifth & Sixth Seasons

http://www.deadline.com/2014/04/hbo-game-of-thrones-renewed-for-fifth-sixth-seasons/

Game of Thrones is a giant hit for HBO and is being treated as such — receiving a two-year renewal a day after its fourth season premiere delivered the fantasy series’ biggest ratings to date and HBO’s largest audience since The Sopranos finale. This is the first multi-season pickup for Game of Thrones, which is now assured to go to at least six seasons. How far can the hit go seems to be in the hands of the novels’ writer George R.R. Martin, who is still writing book six in the six-book series. There is breathing room — the current Season 4 chronicles events that take place toward the end of the third book. “Game of Thrones is a phenomenon like no other,” said HBO programming president Michael Lombardo. “(Creators) David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with their talented collaborators, continue to surpass themselves, and we look forward to more of their dazzling storytelling.”

Based on the bestselling fantasy book series by Martin, Game of Thrones is an epic story of treachery and nobility set on the continent of Westeros, where summers and winters can last years, and only the lust for power is eternal. The Season 4 premiere this past Sunday was watched by an average of 6.6 million viewers, up 52% over last season’s debut and 23% over last season’s finale. The show added an additional 1.6 million viewers from the 11:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. replays, for a gross premiere night audience of 8.2 million viewers. Season three of the series had an average gross audience of 14.4 million viewers per episode across various platforms. Executive producing Episode 4 are Benioff, Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield; co-executive producers, Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis and George R.R. Martin; producers, Chris Newman and Greg Spence.

Complain, complain.

Critiques ;)

I LOVED the premiere overall. I was so pumped for the premiere originally, I couldn't absorb it the first time around. Upon I rewatch, I was just thinking ,"Fock, they nailed it". OTHER than the Daario situation that is, which I think will be forgotten by episode 3.

I thought that was the best opening scene to a season I've seen, just perfect after the Red Wedding. Lost had some good ones, and a bearded Walter White buying a huge machine gun is another one that comes to mind, but this topped them all.

Just noticed on 2nd watching that the chick they cast as Ellaria Sand was Vorenus's wife on Rome. :)

The entire group of Brave Companions really got cut, or at least under sold, not that I mind much. I think episode 3 is when we will really see the true intro of Jaime/Cersei, I was kind of bewildered at their interaction as well, but I get why they did it.

Here are some new characters I saw on IMDB for this season though:

Child of the Forest

Three-eyed Raven

Hizdahr zo Loraq

Tycho Nestoris(Iron Bank of Braavos collector)

Like I said previously, we are going WELL into the 4th and 5th books with some story-lines. I did NOT seeing any of Theon's uncles though, maybe saving that story-line for next season?

I'd forgotten how smitten I was with Danaerys. And her slave girl too

And now they've got Indira Varma on there as well. Getting a little old but still hot

It's getting so that Margaery is damn near an afterthought :o

Looks like some of the worst chess pieces ever made. Like a total amateur did this and to charge $150 dollars for it? Get the hell out of here. Flat out rip off

So I'm an amateur. This guy has no clue how much time I spent on those things. :(

Peter Dinklage may be short in stature, but he's a giant hero to legions of " Game of Thrones" viewers.

Dinklage's Tyrion Lannister has become a fan favorite with his sarcastic quips and cutting one-liners. The actor himself is no slouch in the wit department, as he demonstrated in a Reddit AMA. Here are seven of his best answers.

On joining the "Game of Thrones" cast:

I had one hesitation, because of the fantasy genre, I told him I didn't want a really long beard and pointy shoes, and they assured me this character and this world wasn't that. They told me about his complexity, the fact that he wasn't a hero or a villain, that he was a womanizer and a drinker, and they painted a flawed and beautiful portrait of him, so i signed on.

On the beautiful locations where "Game of Thrones" is shot:

Croatia's one of the most beautiful places. We're in Dubrovnik and we work 6 days a week, so we don't have a lot of time off. But on our days off we just rent a boat and cruise around the islands. We go swimming, snorkeling... it's just the most relaxed place in the world to be. I'd love to go back there one day on holiday. The best part is that at the end of the work day, since it's very hot there and we're in these hot costumes -- heavy leather and armor -- some of us rip off our clothes and just jump right into the sea. Well, not all of our clothes. You know what I mean. But it's invigoratingly cold, and always a joy.

On the funniest person on set:

Conleth Hill! He's a dear friend and fortunately I have a lot of scenes with him. And Lena [Headey], she's also a dear friend and all we ever do is laugh together. When the three of us get together it's a lot of fun.

On wacky, behind-the-scenes hijinks:

There was one scene I was doing with Jerome Flynn, who plays Bronn. It was in season 1 I think, when I say something to a crazy woodsman guy. He asks "How do you want to die?" and the line in the script was like, "At the age of 80 with wine in my belly and a girl's mouth around my c---." And I said... "Age of 80 and a girl's c--- around my mouth!" I inverted a couple of the words, and when I said that my friend Jerome couldn't stop laughing, so we had to stop filming for the day.

On how he got involved with "X-Men: Days of Future Past":

I got a phone call from Bryan Singer. My agent wanted to know if it was okay for Bryan to give me a call. I said... um, of course?! The next day he called me and we had a really long conversation about the character. I loved his previous X-Men movies and the comic books were just so super cool.

On how he maintains his fabulous mane of hair:

It's called not owning a brush. Or a comb. That's my secret. Just don't buy a comb.

On the possibility of being known forever and only as Tyrion Lannister:

I feel like that can go both ways. You can take that as a compliment and think about it like you've done a great job with the role, and you're sort of in people's conscience as that character. On the other hand, the joy of this TV show is that you can take time off and do other characters. A couple of years after this hopefully I'll also do some good work. I know Daniel Radcliffe has been doing a couple of plays in New York right now, and probably in a way attempting to blow his Harry Potter image. If people really can't disassociate me from Tyrion then I'll try to take it like, hey, I probably did something right with that role.

I don't think anyone has ever fit a role so perfectly as him playing Tyrion, other than the fact that Tyrion is suppose to be hideous and Dinklage is a good looking dude. I think that works out better in the show though as we are probably more sympathetic towards him. He is everything Tyrion should be and more, can't wait to see how he handles Tyrion for the rest of the season and the next. He has the most fascinating storyline from now till the end of the books other than maybe Arya or Bran.

I'm not going to waste everybody's time with a self indulgent long form post since everybody seems to be reading the books except for me and the show is basically recapping the books. Go fock yourselves.

Shout out to torrents.

I retched, I actually had to the go running across the room and find the mini trash can near my living room when that wh0re sucked the midget's dirty thumb. Are you kidding? This is how ebola starts. You suck a dirty black grimy filthy medieval thumb for no reason at all, and bacteria are dancing a jig on your uvula and then your colon. Yuck.

Cersei acting too good for incest? Since when did Miss Thing turn her back on focking her brother. For fock's sake, he threw a kid out a window to kill him for you. Now, NOW, you get all morals and stuff? While drinking, you get non-horny? Turn in you woman card at the door. Your basically a corpse with the most distracting eyebrows in history.

Grannie Olenna Tyrell is a scream. She's like Betty White, but funny.

"Lots of people name their swords. Lots of cvnts." You know, the dynamic between The Hound and Arya is really neat. The chemistry is rapidly building. I know nothing of the future, but I would like to see this team together for quite some time.

Well, I will say this for The Hound. If you are going to say "Fock the King" in front of a bunch of guys that looooooove the King, he at least kept eye contact while chugging the ale. It's the little things, the details, that make me satisfied in a show. It shows they are actually paying attention at the wheel.

Another satisfying moment was Arya getting her revenge to her captor and the line of "maybe I'll pick my teeth with it" and the look of realization on the face of the knave as she slid the sword into his neck......nice!!!

By the by, fock if I know who this Oberlyn dude is, but he makes a hell of a great first impression. He is a formidable fly in the ointment in King's Landing.

Geez. The crucifixion of slaves to welcome Daenerys is vivid imagery. A good portend of what is to come.

Sh!t. It's a very, very solid start to a season. I very much look forward to what is to come.

to be fair, that scene was about Jamie not being there for her and Joffrey. she loves Jamie but was punishing him for the time he was away. him being captured, held and losing his hand was irrelevant to her. she and her children come first, always. the line "you're too late" was an incorrect and unnecessary add by the show writers. there was no change of morals. the scene should have just ended with a dirty look and Cersei walking away.

tonight's episode was/is definitely worthy of a second helping (watching). george rr martin wrote the episode... he added a lot!

Long live the new King!!!!

BAM!!!!!!!

It was SO hard watching the show and keeping a straight face, when my BF keeps asking: "When is that little sh!t going to die? How is that all the good guys get killed off, but that wretched kid is still alive?"

Season 4 is off and running.

When I saw the previews for the upcoming season it looked like he was in a lot of the scenes. So I had assumed the would be around all season.

Lots of suspects for his killing. I rewatched that scene. He drank from the cup once and put it down. The closest one to the cup was old lady Tyrell. She could have slipped something in it but I don't see what her motivation would be unless she just couldn't take anymore of Joffrey.

Sansa did it under the table when she picked the cup up. Or the necklace that dude gave her was witchcraft of something.

It definitely is nice to get a bit of redemption, but not having that one constant, irredeemable, villain might make the show feel like it's missing something. Jack Gleeson did a perfect job in the role, if he wasn't leaving acting I am sure he would have his pick of other roles to choose from.

I think every episode from here on out will be really, really good with constant progression through the plot. This was just the tip of the iceberg. I absolutely focking hate that they took away my HBO, which I'm guessing they gave me by accident. I had a panic attack when it didn't switch over because it should have been recording. Oh well, back to streaming/torrenting an hour or two later.

In the book, Joff is already dead when Jaime comes back, correct? I think Cersei's reaction made a lot more sense in that scenario.

Yeah, and I get why the producers did it that way. The first scene we see Jaime and Cersei together in the books is next episode, and I read we are going to get that ---WTF is going on?!?---scene.

Ramsay Snow is pretty evil.

Yeah, but what he does is relatively small scale. He tortures people, hunts people, whatever. Plus he has that whole "I need to prove myself to my father" thing going for him. At the end of the day, he just wants to become his father's son. His father happens to be a sadistic sociopath in a lineage full of sadistic sociopaths, so that is why Ramsay thinks by being the biggest sadistic sociopath that he will get his father's approval and become a Bolton rather than a Snow.

this show is so good that its regular episodes are the stuff of most season finales.

It's amazing really how fortunate and lucky all these royals are but they've focked it all up so bad that they're all miserable. Is there any one person at that wedding that is truly "happy"? Anyone? Good or Evil or anywhere in between, it doesn't matter - they're all miserable - prisoners or victims in one way or another - from Cersei and Sansa to Pycell and the Circus midgets - and even Tywin is a prisoner to his own power and responsibilities.

Maybe Bronn... he is maybe the only "happy" character.

I don't want to give away spoilers but the obvious question is what's next? who's next? who's in the "on deck" circle? For the life of me, I don't understand why anyone would want to get up to bat.
