I know moon landing but now I have your attention.

If you are around my (old ass) age of 42 - did you know he was a ghey in the early 80's ???

My social group of retreads certainly didnt know and was :shocking: when heard the news.

Then in hindsight we were like FVCK how did we not see this.

ANYWAY in Eddie Trunks book he claims it was the worst kept secret in Heavy Metal.

Was your gadar more tuned then mine was ??

If you happened to catch American Experience on PBS recently ... they did an extensive piece about the Stonewall riots, near where I used to live in Greenwich Village. If you aren't familiar with that .... it really was a turning point for gay acceptance ... the "Gay Pride Parade" that is so famous in New York started because of what happened in 1970.

Prior to that, you could be beaten up. even arrested .... and, I'm sorry .... but I lived in the Village as a straight man .... and I have heard some deviant stories. People having sex in water towers, meat trucks ... public bathrooms that you could hardly stand to take a piss in. I've never had sex with a woman in some nasty ass public toilet. Never met a woman that would go for that .... but men .... no problem. Men are just .... dirty.

That was always my request ... accept the Village for what it is .... don't march your parade through here and piss in my garden and sh!t in the bushes and leave your trash all over my neighborhood. In the late 90's ... on Gay Pride day ... I pretty much wouldn't leave my house ... because it's impossible to go anywhere. It became a big party ... I wasn't invited to, in my neighborhood ... and not so much about acceptance but more of a big "fock you!". I think that's too bad.

All parades are pretty focking stupid in my opinion. Just a big traffic jam.

Oh but back to your point ... I mean it wasn't even totally obvious Liberace was gay to a lot of people back then ... it's only recently been even conceivable that someone famous could be openly gay. Pretty much anybody with a handlebar mustache in the 80's ... there's a chance they were the ghey.

of course no one knew he was a knob gobbler back in the 80's

I don't recall anyone saying Freddie Mercury was a sword swallower either.. not until he died of the aids.

Things were so different and innocent in the 80's. Look at all those movies that came out that the PC police would shut down before anyone could see them.

I hate the world we live in, it sucks. I want my 80's back.

The tight black leather and funny looking chaufuer's hat are a dead give away now; in the 80's, not so much.

For Christ's sake, hard rock/heavy metal was dominated by mascara and aqua net.

See: Poison .... or Crüe ... Guns and Roses ... for that matter.

Of course I was a punk rocker back then, so I thought all hair metal was the ghey. It wasn't until I heard Metallica (One is totally a thrash, hardcore beat) and Motorhead before I had any respect for "heavy metal".

Punk rock made "jugga jugga jugga jaaa" guitar available to the masses:

.... and then in about 1990 ... Punk became top 40.

I'm 41 ... I miss the 80's too ... but I was young then. It's easy to miss being young. Back then my father, a law professor, smoked at work. and nobody complained about it. Gas was under $2 a gallon. Of course my first jobs, back then ... I made $3.35 an hour, Minimum wage in 1985.It's easy to be nostalgiac though ... about when f@gs were a little less proud.

It's all like a big throbbing calk in your face now .... and you have to make it cüm all over your face. You have to.

Right? Or is that just me?

I'll have to disagree on Mercury. I was in HS in the 80s and he was the "butt" of many jokes.

You may be a bit older than me, I do not remember hearing anything about gay until aids came out around 81 or whenever it was.

There were rumors about Halford back in the 80's .... and Duran Duran, David Bowie, Elton John ... even Andy Warhol.

Even the honey badger .... but he didn't give a sh!t.

I knew about it back in the 80's. Ted Nugent opened for them, and sent one of his roadies to give a message to Rob. Roadie found Rob balls deep into a male fan, and said "You're busy, I'll see ya later." and ran.

Knew the roadie, heard all about it.

I didn't know for sure but I had a feeling he was in the late 80's. The French Quarter had plenty of Rob Halford look alikes if you ended up on the wrong side of Bourbon street. :bandana:

It wasn't until he was balls deep in me back stage while waiting for Ted Nugent to finish up that I knew for sure.

True.

The movie "Rock Star" was loosely based on Judas Priest.

Can't remember exactly when, but would say it was in the early nineties.

I saw them a few years ago. They were playing Turbo Lover, which sucks. At some point Halford is strutting across the stage and he spins and then slaps his ass. It was hilarious and ridiculous and a little unsettling. Halford rocks though, more d!ck to him. :headbanger:

yeah but it's based on Ripper Owens joining the band that his cover band covers - nothing to do with Halford.
