Frozenbeernuts 2,332 Posted August 11, 2011 Championship teams can be crafted from any spot in the draft. BUT it seems easier when you have a top 4 or 5 pick. How dissappointed do you get when you find out your picking in the back of the pack?

Frozenbeernuts 2,332 Posted August 11, 2011 Not in the slightest, because FFToday members all win our leagues. HTH. Yea there are a lot of people who prob dont care so much but its gotta sting almost everyone at least a little. I just hate drafting near the bottom in my money league because every time it seems my first round pick gets hurt or busts. Also i wanted to point out that most people are in multiple leagues so you know its gonna happen. I do know that i have picked top 3 twice out of a combined 20+ drafts. MDC 7,881 Posted August 11, 2011 Honestly? I don't care at all. Last time I won my main league I had 13 of 14 and went Fitz / Brady. I won it by nailing the motherload of all sleepers in rounds 4 (Ray Rice), 5 (VJax) and 10 (Vernon D) before their breakout seasons. Last year I was mocked for taking RBs in 4 of the first 5 rounds ... But I did pretty well with Bradshaw and McCoy at the 4/5 turn. In a serpentine draft you can win from any spot, and most championships are built in rounds 5 and later, not your first 2 picks. A guy in my league ended up toward the end of the first this year and he was moaning about his bad luck. I told him I'd trade draft spots - my 2 for his 13 - if he put up a $500 side bet on total points, head to head with my team. He balked.
thePRO 78 Posted August 11, 2011 I would rate it a 6/10...i get kinda bummed. I want at worst the 5th pick this year in my main league because I know someone ahead of me will go for Vick or Rodgers and Rice will probably fall to me at #5. But this year it might not be too bad...I might be able to go Andre Johnson/Forte or even Gore or MJD/Calvin Johnson or White. That may not be too bad. Both MJD, Gore, and Forte have some risks but they can also finish top 5 at their position if their teams get their ship together.
Evil Genius 0 Posted August 11, 2011 In Fantasy Football, I have drafted out of the hole twice, and 11th another. Once second place finish and two championships. In Fantasy Baseball, I have drafted out of the hole, and 11th position, twice. Two championships, one second place finish. In 20+ Drafts, across all sports, the hole is where I seem to have my luck. I guess I just like the hole.
parrot 789 Posted August 11, 2011 Honestly? I don't care at all. I ran into a guy from my league the other day and he told me I have the first pick. I'm not sure if he's screwing with me or not, but if he isn't I'm really thinking about trying to trade out of it.

You can draft from anywhere, just do your homework and have a clue.
Fantasy Noob 10 Posted August 11, 2011 I say you need to do some more mocks if your worried about your draft spot. You should be able to win your league from any draft slot based on your faith in your own knowledge and skills or else your dead money and just there for the draft party (which there is nothing wrong with at all). This year to me is much easier than in last few years for you to get a top running back late, Hillis, Mendenhall, McFadden all can be had from picks 10-16. They all have questions but the upside each brings is definitely #1RB quality. Heck, I got MJD in the 10th in one draft and watched him last till the 14th in another (2nd overall and I wished I actually had 12th in this case).

titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted August 12, 2011 I prefer to have a pick in the 4-8 range. I don't like top 3, or bottom four. Mainly just because I hate waiting two whole rounds every time if you are in the 1 or 12 hole. I like my picks to come evenly. Kinda weird I guess.

My first 5 picks were Foster, Lloyd, Vick, Hillis, and Stevie Johnson. Just lucky I guess.

Brian Bozworth Fan Club 0 Posted August 12, 2011 In a serpentine draft you can win from any spot, and most championships are built in rounds 5 and later, not your first 2 picks. I agree. Every season there's a couple handful of players who breakout and drastically outperform their ADP. You just have to snag a couple of them and they'll help carry your team. Just gotta do your research. Playing the waiver wire is a huge key to winning. My teams typically look nothing like they did when I drafted.

giraldi02 476 Posted August 12, 2011 I actually enjoy being after the top five. I'm seventh this year and I feel I'll still draft just fine. I'm a fan of letting the draft come to me. I also like being in a position where I can make draft picks based on the other teams around me. If three teams between 8 and 12 have quarterbacks, I can potentially draft even more value. Granted the same can happen at the beginning, but the middle gives you both ends to work with. And as others have said, its the middle rounds that win you your title along with active roster management during the season.
