tikigods 76 Posted December 18, 2012 I "study" the Bible in both the Hebrew and Koine Greek. And not the American English language canonized versions either. The Apocryphal and Pseudepigraphical(book of Enoch for example) texts should be used as well to study the Biblical scriptures in their proper historical context. There is valuable ancient Hebraic history in these texts, even if they are not inspired scripture. These texts can be used to get the proper historical context of the inspired texts. You can't get the proper ancient historical context of the Hebrew scriptures by using the Americanized English Bibles(KJV included, it comes from the Roman Catholic Latin Vulgate and sucks), the English Bible translations suck mostly(Young's Literal Bible translation being the exception for example). I grew up in American Churches, and they don't know their elbow from their @sshole when it comes to teaching the ancient Hebraic scriptures. They refuse to teach them in their ancient historical and proper grammatical context, and instead act as if the Bible was written to 21st century Americans by 21st century Americans by people who can't tell the difference between nouns and verbs. They abuse the Bible's history and grammar worse then Flavor Flav abuses the English language. I won't lie, I have no focking idea what you're talking about. I'm completely out of the loop on religion. However, I will say this, I admire people who are strong in their convictions even if they are on the total other end of the spectrum as me. You seem like a good dude. I always get a laugh out of the Lake of Fire comments.

Bruce Benedict 0 Posted December 19, 2012 I won't lie, I have no focking idea what you're talking about. I'm completely out of the loop on religion. As an ordained minister recognized in 47 out of 50 states, I do know what he's talking about, and he's full of crap. The only way into God's heaven is through good, liberal deeds performed in service to your fellow man (and to a lesser extent, other animals) here on Earth. Bruce Benedict 0 Posted December 19, 2012 There's nothing pretend about the ULC, amigos. I've performed two weddings (one homo), given last rites, tended benevolently to my flock of dedicated blog readers, and performed a five minute stand-up set at a Wiccan wake. Know Doubt 0 Posted December 20, 2012 wow, great thread but a buncha things have been begged to be asked: 1) Should we start a $$$Pool for Tiki and Blitzen's bailout money? Plus bonus' of $50 each for every punching of WBC dads in the face in front of their families? 2) about 6-9 months ago the catholics decided to rewrite all our prayers/declarations during mass because they felt we were ready for it to be translated 'properly'. so we get ready to do the creed or whatever it is and holy crap, i felt like i was being brainwashed. lots of obey and treating the priest like he was a deity and not some guy who decided to become a priest, etc. funny thing is that i was offended because it wasn't what i grew up with, the stuff back then of course is pretty much the same thing only in my mind tamer because it was what i was used to. don't get me wrong, i believe church has a place in my family as it is a good vehicle to teach my kid right and wrong, but jeez they are always looking for donations... 3) Volty update your frickin weight loss sig, you've been slacking since August, thx. oh and my brother changed universities, he's down by shanghai now and is teaching law and economics, having to write out all the crap lesson plans/text etc too. i keep telling him he should get them published so he can maybe get some £££ out of it down the road. he still has cosmo kramer side jobs just like you do and now he's teaching at a middle school doing that as well. i keep hoping he finds a girl like you did but he seems to be enjoying being a rock star(he plays guitar and sings and as you well know the chinese eat that up) and dating 4-5 girls all the time... when he has time. any more advice i can pass on to him...??? . Voltaire 5,388 Posted December 20, 2012 3) Volty update your frickin weight loss sig, you've been slacking since August, thx. . The reason it's not updates is that I've been slacking since August. The school semester started and I had precious little free time again. I dropped the priority. I need to get re-motivated. I'll respond more later to your brother bit, I'm out the door. Frank M 181 Posted December 20, 2012 You do know the Lake Of Fire comments are a joke, right? Even though most of you here at FFtoday are in Hell separated from God before and after you die. And after you die is when the eternal horrible hell really begins for you. Actually, nothing happens after you die. The soul is a mythical construct people believe in only because they cannot fathom the fact that nothing comes after death. The idea that we really are all worm food and nothing more when this life is over fills people with fear, so they cling to ancient scrolls found in caves that reassure them that yes, life doesn't end after death, you just go somewhere else, someplace better than this, and only good people will be there because all the bad people will be in a different place being punished for being bad.
