On Spiller: "We're going to give him the ball until he throws up"

Recommended Posts

Which...in todays NFl means about 3 straight runing plays...SMH.

FYI....for those of you who didnt see Walter Payton...you would have had to kill him to get him to come out for a breather.

I don't think spiller is built for a full season of that personally.

I have the best of both worlds with Spiller. I have him cheap in a contract league. I can see what he can do without hurting my team. You have to love the coaches statement and hope he can withstand the punishment. Crazier things have happened.

This. I hope he lasts till week six. I'd rather see 20 touches a game.

agreed.

as a bills fan who watches all their games, in order for CJ to accelerate, and cut , and make all his jukes, he needs to be rested.

another way of looking at it is that he expends more energy making all those moves and trying to bounce things outside than someone who is a north south runner.

and if you keep giving him the ball more and more he wont have the energy to make those electrifying moves.

when its 2nd down and 7 to go and you are just looking to get into 3rd and manageable, let fred jackson run into the line of scrimmage for 3 yards.

I feel this is the best course for them too - why waste your biggest asset's energy for no gain? Spiller's talent will likely be hindered by a bad BUF team this year. EJ will take over (or start) and spend his first season learning on the fly. It only makes sense to let EJ and his young WRs develop and use FJax to spell Spiller. Next year I think BUF takes a big step forward if EJ isn't crushed this year.

He's missed 2 game his entire career, I'm not sure why everyone is saying he will be injured, blah blah blah...

Anyone can be injured at anytime... could be the first carry/pass of the year, who the hell knows.

All you can do is draft the guys that have the talent and the opportunity to succeed. This is Spiller's year to prove it. If he's on my team, I hope he gets 400 touches!

Spiller owners in 2012:  the coach doesn't give Spiller the ball enough.

Spiller owners in 2013:  the coach will give Spiller the ball too much.

Spiller may have all the talent in the world, but if he's hindered that much by a full workload then he's not an elite RB. Plain and simple.

elite is the wrong word. workhorse is what you are looking for.

he isnt a traditional every down back like emmitt smith or lt2 or AP etc, but he isnt a full hybird like sproles or reggie bush.

and there is nothing wrong with what he is, but if you think you can just add 100 more carries and 600 yards to last year ( he had a 6.0 avg) and come out with 1800 rush yards, well, good luck

I think he'll handle it just fine, he seems to be built. Barry Sanders was even more explosive and seemed to handle a large workload just fine.

Spiller finishing #1 overall wouldn't surprise me.

I dont like to hear that about Spiller, AP, Foster, Martin maybe, Morris sure, but Spiller is best when he stays fresh and gets 20ish touches a game imo.

hes gonna be dead by week 5, I might even take him off my draft board

Blah, blah, blah. Words, words, words. It will be hard for the coaches to get him the ball to much when that offense sputters with 1 three and out after another. I could be wrong, but I just don't see this offense being very productive.

Just coach speak, unless the RB is a crazy talent like AP who can make their own offense, the rbs production is tied to the QB and getting first downs. The rookie could be great but we dont know, and Kolb is terrible. I was the only one who knew Kolb would be terrible when he went to AZ, even won a sig bet that I never cashed in on saying he wouldnt be a top 20 qb.

Dunno if he can handle that kind of work but I can't imagine him puking too much when they're down by 20+ because of a bottom 1/3 D & a QB that (IMO) is a downgrade of Fitz (also bottom 1/3).

Good luck.

Not to mention FJax at some point.

LOL at this.

I am a Clemson alum and Spiller is never hurt. Played through turf toe half a season at Clemson but that's it. He is a special player genetically.

If you check my post history...

I tried to tell you guys that he would explode on the scene last year at this time. Of course when F-Jax went down last year that acclerated his explosion but it was bound to happen sooner or later. F-jax is on the wrong side of 30, he is done. Its Spiller time.

However, EJ Manuel will not be good for Buffalo or Spiller. Any QB from FSU that has that kind of talent surrounding him and can't even sniff a BCSNC doesn't have the "it" intangible that an NFL QB needs.

Yes I am a homer for Clemson but I will not lead you guys astray. Go ahead and draft DeAndre Hopkins with confidence, he will put up sick #s this year playing opposite Andre Johnson and you can snatch him late.

For proof see his Peach Bowl numbers against LSU's NFL quality defense from last year. He catches every ball thrown his way.
