Debt Ceiling: China Calls for World to Be 'De-Americanised'

China's official news agency has called for the creation of a "de-Americanised world", saying the destinies of people should not be left in the hands of a hypocritical nation with a dysfunctional government.
Heaping criticism and caustic ridicule on Washington, the Xinhua news agency called the US a civilian slayer, prisoner torturer and meddler in others' affairs, and said the 'Pax Americana' was a failure on all fronts.
The official news agency of China, which is seen as the pretender to the world's superpower crown, then rubbed in more salt, calling American economic pre-eminence just a seeming dominance.
"As US politicians of both political parties are still shuffling back and forth between the White House and the Capitol Hill without striking a viable deal to bring normality to the body politic they brag about, it is perhaps a good time for the befuddled world to start considering building a de-Americanised world," the editorial said.
It asks why the self-declared protector of the world is sowing mayhem in the financial markets by failing to resolve political differences over key economic policy.
"... the cyclical stagnation in Washington for a viable bipartisan solution over a federal budget and an approval for raising debt ceiling has again left many nations' tremendous dollar assets in jeopardy and the international community highly agonised," the agency said.
It is not the first time Chinese leadership and newspapers have criticised Washington over a policy paralysis that threatens to devalue its dollar assets.
According to US Treasury Department data, China is the biggest foreign owner of US Treasuries at $1.28 trillion as of July. Besides, China also holds close to $3.5 trillion of dollar-denominated assets.
A US debt default and consequent credit downgrade would significantly erode the value of China's holdings.
As the first step in creating a de-Americanised world, all nations must try to shape an international system that respects the sovereignty of all nations and ensures the US keeps out of the domestic affairs of others, Xinhua said.
"The developing and emerging market economies need to have more say in major international financial institutions including the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, so that they could better reflect the transformations of the global economic and political landscape," the editorial says.
It also called for an end to the use of the US dollar as the international reserve currency, a step that would ensure the international community could maintain a safe distance from the side-effects of domestic political turmoil in the United States.
I've never trusted China's government. The people could be great. I have no idea as I have met many. But the government seems totally untrustworthy and scheming.
Was hoping Voltaire had some thoughts on it. Do you know much about this news agency and is this a sentiment you get from your time there?

China is just biding its time before the world take over begins. While Americans sip their lattes and post constant updates on Facebook, China is getting ready to rule the world.

We look like focktards to the rest of the world. Richest, most powerful nation on earth and we can't even keep our government open? And there's a serious contingency of our government that thinks simply defaulting on our debt might not be a bad idea?

Yeah, fock China, but honestly I'd think twice about casting my lot with the US were I in charge of another government.

The government is not closed 83% of it is open and running a deficit. The 800,000 furloughed employees have already been promised that they will get paid for not working.

We are the biggest debtor nation in the history of the world. We are living “high off the hog” on the backs of our children, grandchildren,…. It is pathetic! And you want to heap more debt on them.

Not raising the debt ceiling does not make us default. The IRS takes over $3 trillion a year from its citizens to fund the machine and it is up to your elected official to choose not to fund our debt. There is plenty of money. But keep spreading the false message Worms.

Go back to the closet where they believe your BS.

We looked like morons long before this. The government has been pissing away money long before anyone here was born. Its unsustainable. The problem isn't the thorn in your side tea party. Its the morons who set this up and think it will continue to work.

The power of this country is its economic engine. Given enough time it will fail.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.
The Chinese have lots of their own internal problems in how it constructs it's government. The lack of elections and accountability that go with it insulate the leadership from having to deal with the population and numb them to what's going on. The lack of any rights we associate with the Bill of Rights (religious freedom, speech, government petition, press, assembly, jury trial, defandant's rights, etc) flows from that. The Chinese government violates each one as it sees fit.
Corruption is upsidedown in China. In the US, the lawmaking process is totally corrupted. The laws reflect the will of special interest pressure groups. But the laws on the books are enforced. If I don't know the law I can look it up online and if I follow it, I'm OK. Even the lawmakers themselves are gerrymandered in and don't reflect the will of the population.
In China the laws are much better and cleaner. The corruption seeps in when they are enforced. Being friends with the judge is illegal in the US, the judge will recuse himself form a case. It's a great benefit in China. The whole government system is rife with corruption. Rules are selectively enforced. If you and I are competitors and I'm friends with government officials and you're not, I can violate the rules openly and have no regard for them. Nothing happens. Meanwhile you could comply with the rules but still face a crackdown if I get p*ssed off at what your doing and get my buddies drunk. They'll trump up some charges.
All the government officials grease itself with political/economic connections that seep into everything. The local officials lie in the #s they send to Beijing to make themselves look good.
The benefits of the system like this cuts in a positive path too though.
In the US, people like government passing out lots of candy. They also hate paying taxes. Voters reward politicians who spend tons of money, they reward those who cut taxes, Irresponsible politicians are the popular ones. The ones that want to take away your lollypop or expect you to grab your wallet to pay for that guy's lollypop, they're the ones that get voted out. We reward bad behaviour in politicians.
Also special interests in the US: here's an issue that 99% of America never heard of or gives a sh*t about. But this 1% over here cares a hell of a lot. They have a lot of money on the line. And they fund a ton of money to politicians who would otherwise not care and total fatten themselves on the taxpayer/general public's expense. Once that pork is put in, it never gets cut out.

If China has an issue, it can resolve it without ease and little interference, the political system is much more nimble in getting things done. You wouldn't get a shutdown with rival factions staring down the other. The Chinese are unhindered by all the social safty net stuff the US taxpayers pay for. No Social Security, no welfare, no unempoyment comp, no disability, no free health care.... etc. You can only get away with that without voters who are use to sucking off the govnerment tit. Consequently taxes are incredibly less than anywhere else.

The Chinese don't want to 'rule the world' likeTiki says. Their foreign policy is non-engagement in the internal affairs. They see the US involvment everywhere and laugh at how stupid we are. I totally agree. Going aroundthe world with rifles inflicting Chinese will on every retarded turd world nation isn't Chinese. They go in and buy resource rights then send a ton of Chinese to do all the focking work because the locals are often too lazy or stupid (which causes it's own problems) providing polluted rivers and little to no local jobs but they get along by greasing the pockets of the dictators that keep the rabble in line.

They do envision a pax-China where China controls all the territory that it has ever controlled at any time in history which is where the Tibet, Taiwan, South China Sea island nonsense comes in.

Feel free to prove any of my links inaccurate.

BTW: MSNBC has been proven wrong many times. This one just happened.

MSNBC jumped the gun when they created an animation of the man responsible for the Navy Yard shooting, Aaron Alexis, wielding an AR-15 during his rampage which left at least 13 people dead and at least eight injured in Washington D.C. on Monday.

In the animation, MSNBC depicts Alexis perched on the fourth floor of the atrium, AR-15 with a menacing looking attached M203 grenade launcher outstretched and pointed at military and civilian personnel.

But according to a tweet form the FBI Washington field office, they have confirmed the gunman was not armed with an AR-15, but says one shotgun and two pistols were recovered from the scene.

I made a general statement comparing Fox News to MSNBC. Never mentioned your links. I don't read your links. You proceeded to tell me that MSNBC has been proven wrong many times. Duh! I was criticizing them equally. Anyone who watches/listens to either of those two channels isn't looking for facts. They are simply hardcore lefties/righties and just want to hear news that caters to their agenda.

If by deAmericanisation, we mean no more senseless wars and military involvement in the Middle East, and withdrawing the hundreds of billions we spend in aid to craptastic countries like Egypt and Pakistan, then I'm all for it.

i used to work with a guy from china and he explained how business is done in china and i was shocked by how corrupt things were in comparison to how things are done here. apparently money is used constantly to bypass all sorts of rules and regulations and it's almost as if it's part of business dealings to be corrupt.
