In time society will only continue to get more and more secular, slowly edging out those who still adhere to religious dogma and relegating them to semi-fanatical status. Along the way all peoples will truly become more equal and much of the intolerance and hate perpetuated by those who still adhere to religious dogma will fade into a somewhat embarrassing past - looked back on much like what I imagine Germans view the Nazi era of their own history.

 

Unfortunately I do not see Jews and Muslims dancing in the streets of Jerusalem anytime soon, but I also do not see the rapture much of the current US religious fanatics seek coming to pass either. Ultimately such intolerant and repressive views - especially when espoused in public - are bad for business. We're all involved on a global scale now and time never runs backward despite the wishes of some. The clock. It ticks.

Ehhh, he may not play, but it won't be because of his combine or him being gay. The first openly gay basketball player got a standing ovation just recently. Times are changing and public perception is becoming much more tolerant if not even supportive.

He didn't do well that's for sure. If he doesn't make it in the NFL it will have nothing to do with who he sleeps with or even Combine results though. He will get an opportunity.

The combine saved the NFL from being labeled as homophobes if/when he does not get drafted. However, now that he is a tweener player, there is no way I would pick him up as a FA. You are just setting yourself up for scrutiny. 32 teams are hoping that somebody else takes a chance.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. It isn't going away. I think people in position of power are smart enough to realize that. It hasn't saved the NFL from anything. And I think the team that does pick him up will get more positive press than negative.

Fair question. Combine is also overrated. They will study his film and if they think he can play, he will certainly get an opportunity. If he can't play or isn't good enough then he wont. Simple as that.

Correct, I think he wont get drafted nor play a down, as per the title of the thread. It is sad that in 2014 this is a topic. Barriers are tough but they do come down. I think a better chance of that would be if a current, semi high profile player came out. Not a draft prospect, not a retiree, not an old fringe roster guy. A current active starter like Welker or someone ike that. That would be an easier transition to eventual equality.

I agree he shouldn't have done this if he wasn't ready to carry the torch because essentially that is what he is doing. But I can't blame him for wanting that. We all want to be judged equally amongst our peers.

 

If he exists? What, you don't know yet? I know, difficult to actually find evidence. I've heard many preachers say look around you, it is obvious that God made us. Just look around.
