You're right because speaking English and not relying on the government is way to much to ask for. :(

You're both right. Ideally, they shouldn't be but ...

I don't believe the Constitution made mention of taking away voting rights for those reasons. Just seems like another excuse to try to minimize voter turnout from a certain party.

Yep - the Founding fathers hadn't a clue that America would fall into such a PC pussified state.

They did the best they good. They focked up on slavery and not having women vote but we've fixed those problems along the way.

Unfortunately, I think you're exactly right about redistributing massive quantities of taxpayer money then pandering to the receivers for votes. Folks on the government dole with their hands in the taxpayer pockets shouldn't be allowed to vote for more and more free goodies.

The Constitution grants the right to write laws to the Congress, not the Executive Branch, yet you have no problem with Obama re-writing laws with no authority to do so.

You are the last person here who should be bringing the Constitution into the discussion.

LOLOL So funny to see all the people who cry about upholding the Constitution suddenly want to disregard it when it means more votes for their party.

You show me the clause where it says you have to speak English or not receive anything from the Government or you don't get to help elect your leaders.

This should be good

That's just not true. Anyone can write a bill or law. Only a member of Congress can introduce it.

The Affordable Health Care Act for America (HR 3962) was introduced on October 29, 2009 and passed on November 7, during the 1st Session of the 111th Congress. Its primary sponsor was the Dean of the House, John Dingell of Michigan. The bill is a revised version of an earlier measure, the proposed America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009. On December 24, 2009, the Senate passed an alternative health care bill, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (H.R. 3590). In 2010, the House abandoned its reform bill in favor of amending the Senate bill (via the reconciliation process) in the form of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010.

It was passed in the senate on December 24, 2009, and passed in the house on March 21, 2010. It was signed into law by President Obama on March 23rd, 2010 and upheld in the supreme court on June 28, 2012.

Show me where I said anything about having to speak English to get something from the Government.

Nice attempt to deflect from your ignorance of the Constitution.

Ok, fine.

'Anyone can write a bill". It only becomes law after Congress votes on it. Then the President is required to enforce the law. Nowhere does it say he has the power to re-write the law.

I need to back up a claim? Which claim would that be? Lol. I'm still waiting to see where the constitution says that not speaking English or receiving handouts costs you your right to vote.

I'll wait while you read it carefully. Get back to me.

If you're going to present Constitutional arguments, at least you should have some idea what you're talking about.

So your assertion is that after it was passed into law, the President rewrote it?

Same assertion he made on his prior ID as well...funny considering he claims to not be the only other person who made that claim before.

Now, I know Drobe, RP, FH, BudBro will use their collective intellect to come up with a stunning rhetorical response consisting of :overhead: , but this is a pretty damning collection of exactly what I was saying. And please, let;s remember, this is the same "You can't criticize the president in a time of war!" crowd. You gotta love how The Fox crew has deemed Putin as a "Real Leader" , "You gotta hand it to Putin", "That's what you call a leader!" - These are all Fox quotes. Putin likes to hang out with his shirt off, Obama wears Mom jeans!" Putin wrestles tigers - Obama wears Mom Jeans!" - Again, direct quotes from Fox. "Putin - Big, strong musculare on a horse - Hannity - No shiit. It's on tape. - You can't make this shiit up.Fox even puts its logo on this shiit. But when Obummer DOES act like Putin - "He's a dictator! He's a tyrant! - Or wait, no, he's weak and wears Mom jeans! - Which is it? Do you GET why everyone laughs at these focking retards?

Here's a link of actual Fox quotes re: same: http://theweek.com/article/index/257636/speedreads-watch-the-daily-show-mock-fox-news-confused-man-crush-on-vladimir-putin

I guess you missed all the waivers he has given to different groups, and the changing of deadlines written into the law.

Not at all. But by virtue of our legislative process and the powers vested in the President, none of those have ever been deemed unconstitutional by any court.

So I guess what I actually missed was the point at which you decided facts weren't working in your favor, so you'd resort to opinions and baseless claims. I'm sure our old friend semantics isn't far behind.

And OJ didn't murder anyone because a court did not say he did.

If anyone went after Obama in court they would be deemed racist and run out of town. That doesn't change the fact he is writing laws with no legal authority.

People "go after" Obama in court all the time. Remember the lawsuit on the Affordable Care Act that the Supreme Court recently decided in the Administration's favor?

Just a little fun.... I don't think it really matters what laws either side pass. Our people at large have reached the tipping point Ben Frank mentioned. Nothing will stop the folks on the dole from getting there to vote whomever promises to keep that dole going.

We were at what 47% of Americans getting some sort of assistance a few years ago? I have no proof but I'm assuming it's now gone up and over 50% or will soon.

Pass all the voter reform laws you like.... people are gonna make sure they get theirs.

I guess I just don't see what any of that has to do with the topic of this particular thread?

Believe it or not I am susceptible to the argument for personal responsibility instead of "government handouts" but I'm just not seeing the connection to making it harder for people to exercise their democratic right to vote. :dunno:

Just commentary really... i doubt any point I try to argue for either side has been brought up and summerily trashed/hacked by the other side in the last 6 pages.

My commentary being... make it as hard as you want. The folks getting the "handouts" as you called them, will find a way to get their votes in. It's not going to matter.... the people will come.

That's a pretty cynical view of democracy you have there. I don't think it's very accurate either. The only bigtime "handout" group you hear of voting in huge numbers are senior citizens looking to "protect" their "handouts" like Social Security and Medicare.

Probably goes with my work trash Worms.... I see so much focking gaming of the system its focking insane. I'm not talking about some media hyped isolated incidents Worms... I'm talking as a society we're not all honestly poor struggling folks down here on the low end.

I was on a planE last year with folks living in Chicago FLYING to their minneapolis addresses to get their welfare checks because they were much better handouts there. Thats the sh!t i see in real life that makes me cynical.

People will find a way to vote their sh!t man.
