Alias Detective 1,388 Posted December 30, 2023 The Baltimore Ravens will honor former running back Ray Rice during Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins, the team announced. The team says they will honor Rice as their “Legend of the Game,” which recognizes a former player for their accomplishments both on and away from the field. weepaws 3,150 Posted December 30, 2023 Oh my soul, hopefully they won’t make mention of his of the field accomplishments.
seafoam1 2,798 Posted December 30, 2023 That was a dead on punch to the wife. She went down. And he dragged her to their room. But don't you dare say you don't want to give reparations you racist.

seafoam1 2,798 Posted December 31, 2023 If Rice punched his wife like that on a public elevator, then dragged her through the halls of a hotel, WTF do you think that dude has done in the past in the privacy of their own home?

You very well could be right, but do you have proof? You think he's changed at all in the last decade since this happened? It certainly SOUNDS like he has from things I've read. What he did was simply horrific, to be sure, but must he be excoriated every day for the rest of his life now if he's changed? Does anyone get a 2nd chance anymore to prove they've changed? No one is talking about excoriating him. I have no problem with him living his life and seeing him get 2nd or 3rd chances. Redemption is a great thing and I believe in it. But I also don’t think he should be honored.
edjr 6,578 Posted December 31, 2023 If Ray Rice smacked his wife in 2023, he would win a medal. Peaceful argument with his wife. Diversity
Hardcore troubadour 14,912 Posted December 31, 2023 If he did that to mine he would be dead. Or at least have a limp for the rest of his life.

I have no problems with second chances. It's just hard for me to think that type of action taken by him was a one off. If he catches her nailing some other dude in his bed, sure, emotion plays a role in it. But to flip out like that raises bigger questions to me. Let the change and live his life, but I wouldn't celebrate it. Honestly, if I did that to my girlfriend, I wouldn't be able to go to such a spotlight event and be the center of it knowing that everyone knows.

WhiteWonder 2,675 Posted January 1, 2024 Ray Rice was one of the main examples I always used when debating people who would cry about Colin Krapernick being "black balled". Rice got cut, and since he was nearing the end of his shelf life as a RB, he didn't get another chance. No team was going to deal with the media mess for an average player, despite the fact that everything Rice did afterwards seemed to show remorse and reform. Kaepernick was on the downside. What team really wanted that kind of attention for a mediocre player? Of course he was still more talented than most of the backups and a handful of starters but when you make a mistake, you better be damn sure you're still in the prime of your career
