++ UPDATE No.2: Adrian Peterson Out Indefinitely ++

Recommended Posts

A source tells the New York Post that the Vikings will not release Adrian Peterson.

The Post has sources on this story because Minnesota's ownership group is New Jersey-based. The Vikings are expected to make an announcement regarding Peterson's status at some point Monday and it's possible they'll choose to suspend him even before the NFL steps in. They could also try to trade Peterson. Note that the NFL is expected to review the case under the new domestic violence policy, not the personal conduct policy. First-time offenders of the domestic violence policy get a six-game ban. With Peterson inactive Sunday, Matt Asiata totaled 84 yards and a touchdown on 18 touches as the Vikings lost 30-7 to the Patriots.

Question is now, does the NFL swoop in and suspend him before Sunday?

I hope so. My guess is they won't though.

You would almost think they have to at this point right? I mean they're image is already crap from the Rice thing, how will it look if they let a guy play that allegedly beat his child. Regardless of anyone's view on the matter there are enough people out there that it bothers that it wouldn't look good.

we should see something from the league either suspending him or stating that they will let the legal process proceed before making a ruling. My guess is that the league ends up suspending him.

My team, "The Switch Hitters", are back in business!

You can take that 2 ways

We can stop saying "allegedly" he's openly admitted he beat the kid. He's admitted he's struck him with a swtich 10-15 times. The only thing here is he "alleges" he thinks there is nothing wrong with it.

So, there is no alleged crime. He abused the sh!t out of the kid. Stuffed leaves in mouth and literally beat him from head to toe. Now, it's just a matter of time until the hammer is dropped. He will be found guilty and we will wait and see what the punishment is. His self defense is ignorance, I don't think it will hold water for a defense.

ADP will not win the "Father of the Year " award but he has to work to support his kid.

It is ironic that if this is done to a child it's "teaching them a lesson" and some people can accept it.

Yet....

If we read a story about a grown man having his pants pulled down, leaves shoved in his mouth and beat with a stick repeatedly leaving cuts, bruises and welts on his ankles, legs, back, butt, nuts, hands....it would be considered torture?! Strange?

Yeah not sure what all this allegedly talk is all about. He admitted he did it, what's left to discuss here? Maybe the NFL needs a videotape of the caning to get enraged enough to see this for what it is.

Can you imagine the specimen that is ADP taking a stick to a tiny 4 year old? What must that look like?

It's much worse than a Ray Rice left hook to a grown woman I can predict that. With each whack and resulting squirm from the kid I guarantee you would want to throw him in jail. Guarantee.

It is amazing that he could do this to no other human being and get away with it. A kid, ah he probably deserved it

We know he made a switch and we know the kid is bruised and we know that he admitted to hitting him, but with no video, how can we be sure. :dunno:

And when the social police decide YOU did or said or even thought something wrong (re: something THEY disagree with), good luck! You've waived your right to due process or individual freedom.

He admitted it, what is your point? He needs due process to see what the courts deem as punishment before the NFL deems what punishment they want to give out? That's horse shiit. Goodell suspends guys never even brought up with criminal charges all the time.

And one other point; the kid didn't cry. So either he was in shock or is used to that abuse.

Staggering that there are that many ignorant people out there willing to write this off as disciplining a child.

Disciplining a child shouldn't leave emotional let alone physical scars.

What that just because ADP admitted it, doesn't mean we can come to the same conclusion that ADP told us to come to, that he he beat his kid?

Yeah brilliant post.

The NFL is a business and more visible than most companies. If an employee readily admits to a felonious act that is this publicized, most likely they WILL lose their job.

Same with Ray Rice. If the Vice President of Nestle Corp. is on tape punching out his wife or readily admits to beating a child like this that V.P. would be fired immediately. PERIOD.

So what's the issue?

These two guys (Ray Rice and AP) are horrible focking examples of men and deserve to be punished. That it's taking public outcry to make the NFL/Teams to do right tells you just how far off our moral compass is with these athletes.

Your response has nothing to do with the post I approved of. I am only talking about society having say in these types of decisions via twitter and the media. It's disgusting.

Due process or not it would reflect very badly on the NFL if he was allowed to play. You kick the guy that knocked his wife out of the league but you let the child abuser play. Thats not flying with a LOT of people, not after the Rice thing.

What to me almost makes it worse is this is the guy that had one of his kids beaten to death just last year because of abuse..you would think he would be a bit more sensitive to hitting his kids like that.

I don't need "due process" to know right from wrong. It doesn't need to go through the courts to let them tell me he was wrong.

If he was saying I did not do this! Okay, let's let the evidence and due process make the decision. However, when he says that he got the stick, pulled the leaves and stuff off and shoved it in his mouth and then proceded to strike him 10-15 times. Enough for me. I can't decide what the punishment is, but I can definitely say I think he's trash and hope that he never gets to play again and the HOF shuts him out.

Finally some sense from the league. Barkley said it, EVERY black parent whips their kids, it's just how they are. Adrian has every player in the league on his side on this, they can't wait for him to come back.

Yes it was excessive and cruel and degenerate and inhumane. Now get back on the field, we have some games to win!

Due Process is for determining jail time for the guilty. The NFL doesn't have to follow due process if the player admitted to beating his child already. He admitted his guilt, and shouldn't be playing.

Is it okay that it wasn't your child or it was some little black kid?

Why is this okay? Is it just because ADP is talented?

This is everything wrong with this situation summed up in one post. Everyone does something that is incredibly stupid, so it is alright to let a low life continue to help my team win a game.

unreal....

Honestly,

We're not here to judge the man on his actions.

We're all here because, let's face it, we're obsessed with fantasy football. Let's focus on the fantasy implications.

Arguably the best RB in the game is back. He's got quite a nice schedule I might add as well.

Do disagree with this.

He did NOT beat my kid. And, sometimes unfortunately, it is ok if it's someone else's kid. This is not society's kid. Society doesn't get to decide. It is the kid of a parent who has the right to raise them as they want, within reason. That reason will be decided, or re-decided, at some point. if we want society to make all decisions, ok then. Let's do it! I'm sure that will work out great. Until then, we still do have some personal liberty.

Do I need to make a list of all the illegal activities that are commonplace in each racial community? Doesn't make it right!
