MDC 7,808 Posted November 13, 2014 My wife and I take turns laying down with my boy til he passed out. Monday I took him up at 8:10 and he was out before MNF kickoff. Last night was not so good. I took him up at 8 and he rolled around talking so much that I finally passed out. When I woke it was 11 PM and everyone was asleep. I came downstairs and really wanted a beer before bed. I actually took it out of the fridge and looked at the cold bottle in my hand for a while. Finally I put it back and went to sleep. Had to be the first time I've gone a day w/out at least one alcoholic beverage in 6 months or longer. January dry out is going to be hard.
IGotWorms 4,062 Posted November 14, 2014 I think I'm actually getting allergic to the booze somehow. Started out with beer - all of a sudden I couldn't really drink much of it without feeling like sh!t the next day. Not even hungover so much as just how you feel when you ate something you shouldn't have. Now I'm having the same problem with red wine. Whiskey is still ok for now so long as I don't overindulge. White wine seems alright too. Basically I have grown a vagina
TD Ryan2 316 Posted November 14, 2014 Worms - beer kills me now. So does soda (coke, pepsi). I can not drink any of it with a meal - absolutely destroys me. I think maybe it's the carbonation? Not sure but yes, it seems ike an "allergic" thing to me. But Seltzer water (Polar Seltzer) and/or soda water with lemon is great, so maybe not the carbonation??? Scotch and whisky is great too. Sho Nuff 720 Posted November 14, 2014 I can drink a few beers...but can't pile them up anymore. Just feel bloated and awful after more than 4-5. Prefer just bourbon with a few ice cubes.

Now would be a good time to start teaching your kid to fall asleep by himself. He'll cry for a few times but he'll get over it. Otherwise you will find yourself with a 5 yr old sleeping in your bed. Don't be that parent, if you like alone time with the wife anyway.

Mike Honcho 5,411 Posted November 14, 2014 Meh...I don't drink a lot, but I generally have a cocktail or 2, most nights, Friday and Saturday...a few more. I'll do it, 31 days without a drink, sure, why not.

He actually sleeps through the night but story time followed by laying down next to him is our routine. I'd like to transition to sitting in the room but not laying with him and eventually just putting him down. I don't mind too much now, it's silly but we talk in bed and it's some of the only 1-1 time I get with junior. But long term we have to train him to fall asleep on his own. Story time and laying next to him/chatting afterward is great. Hell, my youngest is 13 and I just stopped doing that a year or two ago. My point was about staying until he falls asleep. He needs to learn that the bonding time ends and it is time for him to fall asleep on his own.

No kidding: I fell asleep next to him again last night. Only 2 beers on a Friday night though and 11 hours of sleep, I feel awesome!

Mungwater 597 Posted January 5, 2015 I'm doing it, no issues whatsoever. It actually feels good to wake up with no hint if a fog. Even if you only have three beers, there is a slow down in the morning

Even if you only have three beers, there is a slow down in the morning Agreed... Not a big drinker, though I was drinking more than I thought(started paying more attention in Dec)----I've also started losing a few pounds, which I attribute to the fact that when I drink, I tend to snack a lot. Anyway, I've replaced 7&7s with water each night...
