My league allows the higher seeds to pick their playoff opponent

Recommended Posts

7 teams makes the playoffs out of 14, 1 team gets a bye.

2 seed picks between the 5, 6 and 7 seed.

3 seed (me) picks between the remaining 2.

2 seed has picked the 6th seed.

I have to pick between the 5th and 7th seeds (7th seed was highest scoring team in the league)

Who would you pick to play? (easy choice it seems to me)

5th seed.

QB Andrew Luck QB @CLE
RB Joique Bell TB
RB Ryan Mathews NE
WR Calvin Johnson TB
WR Julio Jones @GB
TE Brent Celek SEA
DST 49ers @OAK
K Stephen Gostkowski
7th seed
QB Aaron Rodgers ATL
RB Le'Veon Bell @CIN
RB Darren McFadden SF
WR Brandon Marshall I DAL
WR Jordy Nelson ATL
TE Rob Gronkowski @SD
DST Seahawks @PHI
K Steven Hauschka

Do you phags play water pong after your draft?

I would probably play the 5th seed. Rodgers is going to torch the Falcoons.

Wait, what?

So, #1 gets a bye.

2 picked 6, you (3) can pick 6 or 7...and 4 gets whoever is left.

#1 then gets the lowest remaining seed I hope?

Id lean 5...Rodgers + Jordy against ATL, Gronk, and Bell against CIN should put up big points.

Then hope Julio and Luck shot their load last week.

Interesting rule! I like it.

As for which one, both would scare me. I think - barely - the 5th seed will score less. But only by a bit.

Correct,

Next week - 4 teams remain and #1 can pick between any teams, but not #2, should they win.

Lowest seed very well may be the highest scoring team, so they can choose another team.

In our league, the top 6 teams make it via record and the 7th team makes it on points only out of the remaining 8 teams, no matter what their record was.

QB Philip Rivers NE
RB Arian Foster @JAC
RB Dan Herron @CLE
WR Antonio Brown @CIN

I have Keenan Allen on the bench and I have a bid in on Manziel to maybe start him this week.

Good luck

Either one of those teams will beat you IMO - if you start Rivers, you have a chance.

I would pick the 5th seed for sure. The major factor in my decision was which team had more "studs". So i you use that in your case...#5 has 3 "studs" Luck, Calvin and Julio Jones. #7 team has 5 "studs" Rodgers, Bell, Marshall, Nelson and Gronk.

We do basically the same thing in CBS league im commish in. 8 of 12 make playoffs and #1 seed gets first pick of teams that finished 5th-8th then #2 seed gets pick of remaining 3 teams and #3 seed picks between remaining two teams with last 2 left playing each other.

This year the matchups ended up

Bracket 1

#1 vs #6

#4 vs #5

Bracket 2

#2 vs #7

#3 vs #8

what website do you play on that allows you to customize this much??

I also would like to know that. I kind of like this idea.

You can do this on CBS, and probably every other site - you just have to set playoff selection to manual.

Play against the team that doesn't have 4 players that are the best at their position in fantasy this year. You don't want a piece of Rodgers, Jordy, Gronk AND Bell. That's just a buzzsaw. If hat team doesn't win the championship he should be teabagged.

We do use CBS, but it is entered manually.

it is rather simple.

The main reason I instituted the change some 7 years ago, because we started to allow the team with the highest points to get the last playoff spot, regardless of record.

That made it unfair for the highest seed to play the team with the most points out of the other non playoff teams.

I cut a deal with the 5th seed last night.

I am playing him, but we have agreed to split any winnings we make. Can't split with anyone else.

gives us a 25% chance to win $1800 (winner of super bowl gets $3600) I already won $1250 for winning division and a couple high teams and high players

I would pick team 5. But in my humble opinion your season is about to end.

Good LUCK!

Those r the most stacked 14 team #5 & #7 seed teams in the history of FF.

Just curious... Are their woman in your league?

I like this idea. Of course I tied for the best record in my league but ended up with the number 3 seed and no first round bye. And I've got the shitttiest matchup in the first round :(

And I would pick the number 5 seed as well

A guy who's cutting a deal with other teams in the 1st round of the playoffs reeks of MANGINA & probably needs to look in the mirror before trash talking.

Good Luck!

We been doing this on CBS for few years. I'm don't like byes and if you just do same old 1 vs 8 and 2 vs 7 and so on and a lot of times those lower seeds are better then higher seeds so it rewards you more and adds some fun.

While the $180 league fee is total BS but we all love the site especially playing 2 games a week. I'm 17-9 in one league and only damn 12-14 in another

More I think about it the more I hate this idea.

Bad enough to lose against a random lineup, let alone lose to a hand selected one.

I love the idea, but I have a question.

It seems like it would really suck to be the 4th seed. You end up with whoever the other two don't want to play. Has this been a problem?

We're on RTsports. No problem setting this up.

It would be fun in that league to set your lineup to sabotage choices, and put the proper lineup in at the last minute. May make a difference in whether you're picked to face or not.

Julio Jones has scored 15 or more pts one time in the last 10 weeks. (last week)

I am leading 116.97 to 101.92

With only 16 roster spots, you pretty much know what their starting lineup is

This. It's bad enough making decisions to start player A over player B & have the bench player outscore your starter is bad enough. But to decide between two teams as your opponent & having the team that you pick to play to beat you would be demoralizing.
