NewbieJr 541 Posted August 7, 2015 I knew she'd be a mega star that sustained a long career as soon as she came out. Extremely likeable. Down to earth. Wasn't going to fall into the traps most teen stars fall into. But the main reason- she's a crazy talented songwriter. She doesn't have to worry about turning 30 and being washed up and having the professional songwriters sell their material to next big 18 year-old sensation. She doesn't have to worry about turning 30 and being washed up and having the professional songwriters sell their material to next big 18 year-old sensation. Good post. I'll admit that a few years ago my view of her was that she is the uppity chick that dates known party guys, then refuses to put out, then when they dump her for it she writes horrible songs about them....But thanks to having a 5 year old daughter, I've gotten to know her music extremely well over the last year or so.....And now I love Swift. Sure, some of the old songs hint at that, but she never really names any names and she is singing about her life. Plus, the writing is complex and vague enough (I mean that as a big compliment) that the songs can take on different meanings for different listeners.....And they are catchy as hell. And over this past year, I've started following her on instagram and twitter.....I love the increasing self awareness and confidence she has developed. I love that she has a maturity you never see out of celebs......etc.....I think Blank Space could be the most well written pop song I've heard in years. I've probably played it in my Jeep 150 times and there isn't even a hint of getting tired of it. I don't think there is any debate that she is the biggest solo musician in the world right now. I'm unsure if there is even a band as big as her.....and taking that further, I predict she will be the biggest musician in the world for the next 20 years....and she is the most trustworthy star of her level that I've ever seen. wiffleball 4,790 Posted August 7, 2015 If I recall correctly, Her Voice track crapped out at a concert And it turns out she has no voice whatsoever. Having said that, You can't deny that she carries herself well And makes a ton of money.
wiffleball 4,790 Posted August 7, 2015 I do, however, Hate that whole part of her butt is a passive aggressive, whiny little that writes nasty songs About each of her exes. That's something a 14 year old girl might do. Which, Is why she is so popular with 14 year old girls.

titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted August 7, 2015 Really? Talented songwriter? I guess if you are a 14 year old girl. I find her lyrics vapid myself. And without autotune, she can't sing at all. My exwife was watching her on TV... It was awful. But she is pretty hot. And I give her a lot of credit for conducting herself with class. If I had a daughter, I'd be totally cool with her as a role model.

As she ages, so will her subject matters. She also has a nice voice. Not a great voice. That's the great thing about being a song writer. You don't have to be an American Idol-type singer. She's a storyteller.
cbfalcon 825 Posted August 7, 2015 That's the great thing about being a song writer. You don't have to be an American Idol-type singer. She's a storyteller. Bingo. She's a story teller....She paints a picture with well written lyrics that convey emotion and feelings....and she does so in a non specific enough manner that it's easy to take said emotions and apply it to something in your own life. Really, it's all I ask for out of lyrics......and if you can do it over catchy well written music, I'm willing to listen.
