I like Rusty' Pizza delivery request for fingerprint when writing a check meltdown.

Man I didn't want to be the jerk commish who starts the draft and jumps in to make the first pick. I already gave these dill weeds a half hour, another half hour and I'll start it off with my favorite guy in history.

Fock it I gave the field an hour so now I'll kick it off.

1.1Leonardo da Vinci -JoaT

The greatest, most broadly talented, and arguably most brilliant human being if all time goes first overall. A top shelf painter with Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, Virtruvian Man, inventor, architect, scientist, he was a leader in every field of knowledge of his time.

So is the draft order as you have listed 1-6 above?

no we don't yet have a draft order. I didn't roll one. The first round is whoever shows up first goes. The second and all subsequent rounds are based off of the first.

Okay... I think this is a fun idea... but my $0.02 is that there are WAY too many categories, and some are also too similar- like what are the defining difference between a great thinker and a great inventor? Is Ben Franklin a great inventor or a great statesman? :dunno: I think we need to simplify this a bit.

Was it something I said?

Seriously... if we draft 4 of each those categories with no clock, we might be finished by this time next year.

It's like pushing oatmeal uphill with you guys.

Hi, here's this great idea I have for a history draft...

OK I'll do it. Here are some rules. Do you like these rule, do you have any question? Comment? ...

OK well everybody we'll start Sunday night then, look forward to it see you then...

Hi Sunday night is here. Everything is set up. We're ready to go. Feel free to go ahead and pick then ...

>>>>>> I'm not participating. I just want to make a smart ass comment

Oh, you're very witty.

OK well then, seeing as nobody else is picking, I'll go ahead and get it started myself. There we go. We started. OK next person is up...

>>>>>>#1 is it my turn?

Yes, yes please go ahead and pick then...

Well, when you have time, come back and pick....

>>>>>> #2 I don't like the rules.

I have absolutely no idea what you mean by choose 4 of each of those categories. So we each pick like 120 people? I figured we would just pick guys arbitrarily and build a roster of 4-5 then discuss when done. No idea about those categories or a list of eligible picks or any of that convoluted stuff. I'll just pick someone I want.

Christopher Colombus. Finder of America (sort of), raper and killer of Indians, probably gay, definitely a real A-hole who probably took credit for someone else's findings.

Yes we're each going to pick about 120 names each. A couple dozen categories, four in each category. I hope this isn't a problem. To me it's pretty easy peasy. I could fill most of these categories, my roster and everybody else's, with 20 names in each category right now. Of course I'm weird like that.

Also thanks for the name.

Sadly, I'm sensing this thing unraveling quickly.

All right volty. I'll try to help.

With the second pick, Titans selects Jesus Christ, religious leader. Son of God. The Shepherd. King of kings, blood of the lamb. In nomine patri et filli et spiritus sancti. Amen.

Wait, is this sarcasm? You can't be serious right? You want to draft rosters of 100+ people? I'd say cut that to about 5 names each and we have a reasonable draft. I respectfully bow out if we are tortuously naming hundreds upon (holy god) hundreds of historical names. I was thinking more like the Star Wars draft where we had rosters of about 4 then had casual banter about who "won" and why. Someone can take my pick. It's still a good one I think.

I guess it wasn't very clear. Look here's the deal. I've got 35 categories and want to go 20-25 names deep in each category. That's 700 - 875 names I'd like to see get dropped. That's what we're signing up for.

By way of comparison, a FF league like 12 Geeks has 18 man rosters is 216 names that get dropped. So this big scary oh my gawd monster draft -by scale- is only slightly more than three times bigger than a FF draft. Granted there's a lot more work to it and less than half the participants.

Considering the scope of what we're talking about ... a lot of people have done a lot things in a lot of endeavors over the last 5000+ years of recorded history. 700 is barely any of them. It's not that hard but if helping to name your share of 700-875 is too many for you, then it's OK to leave. If it's just me and TBBOM going back and forth putting 10 names in each category such that we both drop 350 names, then that's what it is.

With tantastic gone, hopefully we still have five people willing to plug in 140 names each. Yes, if you want to continue, you're expected to plug in 140 names. Ooooooh! Ahhhhhh! Horrors!

I'm bowing out too.

I read that you wanted to do a huge list of categories, but I didn't have time before it started to make any objections. And when I finally tried to say something, you kinda spazzed out.

No hard feelings... have fun, but I don't have the time for this.

Yeah. I mean I love the Geek Club and all but I've known all along we aren't cut out for this sort of thing.

I called TBBOM because I know he loves this stuff too. I thought he might know some people who would be interested and we'd do it quietly on the side but instead he recommended we try the Geek Club.

I'm thinking "Oh, Fock. Really?" I know this place and I can't say I ever thought was a workable idea here. He had more hope than I did. Had to try though.

Ah well, before fully pulling the plug, I'll see what Vudu and BPB have to say. For TBBOM though, even if it just winds up down to us two, I'm still willing to roll anyways.

Thank You. Fock Yeah we're going. You are a rainbow after the thunderstorm of piss. We'll see what Vudu wants.

I'll go to bed now and I hope when I wake up, I'll see two picks in by Vudu. And then everything will be smooth. So long as he doesn't flood us with Kardashians as he's threatened. .

At the turn, I'm taking 2 Germans.

Scientist - Physics Albert (Norman) Einstein

Father of modern physics. e=mc2. Helped convince Roosevelt to develop the atomic bomb. Introduced general theory of relativity, widely regarded as the most remarkable scientific contribution of the 20th century. Also, one of the most quotable human beings of all time.

Composer: Johann Sebastian Bach

Greatest composer ever. Sired 20 children. Was once jailed by the Duke of Saxeweimar to prevent him from leaving his employ. Spent the month composing from prison. He also shares my birthday, March 21.

Can I jump in? I just noticed this... if so I'll take: Charles Babbage, the Father of Computers.

This was much funnier when it read as a Rain Man reference. :(

Since you didn't specify, I was going to put Babbage in as an Engineer, but since you just took Euler with him, I'll slide him over to inventor rather than put two in that category.

Okay so does that mean I would now be 2.1 too? If so I'd like Leonhard Euler as well.

Yeah, you're the corner after vudu odd5/even1.
