Big Guy 1,400 Posted January 19, 2018 tell you what, I'll just pick out "the good songs" from each and whoever has the most, I'll vote for. 7 = Vuduchile 5 = edjr 4 = Voltaire 9 = Titans ( though "Relax" & "Tainted Love" almost made me revoke your man card )

tanatastic 2,061 Posted January 19, 2018 There’s a sad lack of Journey separate ways on these lists. But Ed has Solo Steve Perry and MJ so he’s my pick.

tanatastic 2,061 Posted January 19, 2018 look at my 2nd pick! It’s not in my top 5 journey songs but I still give due credit for the bands presence on the list.
mobb_deep 917 Posted January 19, 2018 Going with edjr. I feel like he has the widest variety of essential 80's tunes. Volty has a solid squad too. It just lacks depth of genre, and hair metal is the worst music ever created. I also like vudu for having alot of sleeper tunes, and TBBOM has the best Mr. Irrelevant of the 4 squads. Solid effort by all.

RaiderHaters Revenge 3,585 Posted January 21, 2018 I went Titans with ED close second. Reason being the other 2 stuck pretty much to a single genre, especially Volt
BunnysBastatrds 1,920 Posted January 21, 2018 Voted Vud. Eds is a brain scratcher. The more I look at the entire draft, it looks like most used an MTV 80's cheat sheet of the top two hundred. So many songs left out. I hope we will Sunday morning QB this draft after the winner is made. Will be as much fun for us who voted as the thoughts of you had drafted. Great thread!
Big Guy 1,400 Posted January 21, 2018 You do not have good taste in music if you say Volty has only 4 good songs. Vote Volty Actually for the average music fan, I get your point, they are strong choices. But for ME there's only 4 good ones... 1.11 Back In Black AC/DC 2.02 Master of Puppets Metallica 3.11 Tom Sawyer Rush 4.02 Jack and Diane John Mellencamp 5.11 Kickstart My Heart Mötley Crüe 6.02 Photograph Def Leppard 7.11 You Give Love A Bad Name Bon Jovi 8.02 Every Rose Has Its Thorn Poison 9.11 God Bless the USA Lee Greenwood 10.02 Rock You Like A Hurricane Scorpions 11.11 Edge of Seventeen Stevie Nicks 12.02 18 and Life Skid Row 13.11 Africa Toto 14.02 Panama Van Halen 15.11 Run To The Hills Iron Maiden 16.02 Breaking the Law Judas Priest
Voltaire 4,562 Posted January 21, 2018 I went Titans with ED close second. Reason being the other 2 stuck pretty much to a single genre, especially Volt It's all either rock or metal but I went off that genre one time to get "God Bless the USA". Lee Greenwood is a country singer with a song that appeals to everybody, especially Gulf War vets. I was tempted throughout to get some pop songs but ultimately didn't. Diversity wasn't on my mind other than thinking I should probably select at least one female artist. What was on my mind instead was that I wanted to be careful not to leave the back door open for anyone to out-rock me. I don't know if any of my songs topped the charts but I'd think the most likely candidates would be the Bon Jovi or Stevie Nicks ones.

Some friends and I were discussing this at the bar yesterday, when trying to draft songs from an entire decade there are going to be hundreds that could be deemed essential. Add to that the subjectiveness of the topic and there are no winners or losers. The 80's was a difficult draft for me but the 70's is going to be damn near impossible as I can think of a few bands that had songs worthy of all 16 of my draft spots. Keep in mind how many charts there are though,Billboard alone has The Hot 100,Mainstream Rock,Dance & RB etc. etc. I'm not going to look it up but I'd take a guess that 75% of your songs made one of them thus again proving there are no right or wrongs just what music resonates with us.
