nzoner 937 Posted February 2, 2018 ONLY bands not represented and songs I was thinking Montrose-Rock candy Great song, and I thought about it, but I was more leaning to Space Station #5...Can't go wrong either way Hank JR-Family Tradition That was going to be my last pick, but I had to do a homer pick with Gen X Pat Travers band-Boom Boom Out Go The Lights Also was in my thoughts...That and Snorting Whisky, Drinking Cocaine Ace Frehley-Back In The New York Groove I was an official member of the KISS Army and Ace was my man. That being said, I hated that damn song. Rip it Out and Snowblind were my favorites from his solo effort Snortin Whiskey was 1980

Hardcore troubadour 15,145 Posted February 2, 2018 Also HT has some stuff I totally missed that made me say, "How did I forget that." Nice list man Thanks. I could have gone for a while. Love the 60's and 70's. I'm a firm believer that if you have a few older siblings or young parents your scope of music is greater than most.

The Elevator Killer 522 Posted February 2, 2018 I can't find the post, but nzoner talking about KISS. I was into KISS early. Stuff like Strutter and Deuce. Some of their biggest hits not picked. I had them down, but it seems I'm missing one of my research lists or my list would have been even longer. I am because I didn't list Jim Croce. Like Jimmy Buffett sang don't knock a Kiss concert if you've never seen it, you may just find out that your wrong. Or something like that.

(actual song starts at at 1:45 in.) Changed lyrycs, but they rocked it up pretty good, too

Big Guy 1,412 Posted February 2, 2018 20.14 - Roads To Moscow - Al Stewart I am a geek. Two of my favorite fields of geekdom are music and history. Al Stewart does both. He is best known for two minor hits, Year of the Cat, and Time Passages. After several albums of a folky variety (as an aside, check out Once An Orange, Always An Orange for some badass acoustic guitar work) he did an album called Past, Present & Future. It was a weird concept album. Each song on the album deals with a different decade of the 20th century, and the album finishes with an ode to Nosturdamus. This is my favorite song of his. It is the story of a russian soldier in the red army, who is there when the Germans invade in operation Barbarossa, is driven back through the Ukraine, to the gates of Moscow in Operation Typhoon, to Stalingrad, Operation Bagration, and the fall of Berlin. Ultimately, the war won, he looks forward to finally returning home... but the NKVD has other plans, and he is off to the gulag. And I wonder when I'll be home again, and the morning answers never. And the evening sighs, And the steely Russian skies go on forever. An eight minute history lesson of the eastern with great lyrics and beautiful guitar work. This is the kind of wonderfully weird stuff that simply doesn't get made anymore. Anyway, hope you give it a listen and enjoy. I'm an Al Stewart fan and probably even have this song on one of the 5 albums I have, but I don't know it. Bravo on nailing obscurity.!
Big Guy 1,412 Posted February 2, 2018 I used to park on Apollo Beach and get stoned and listen to the Running on Empty 8 track and I Robot by The Alan Parsons Project. I miss those days.
