Yah. Obvious music is subjective, and I don't want be all snobby... it's just Green Day is to me, as Nirvana is to SUX (he can't stand them). They're just the blandest, most formula driven, overproduced pop punk ever made.

The Seattle area has a rich 90s grunge culture because it is cold, rainy, miserable... perfect for suicide. Phoenix on the other hand is sunny and happy, so our music scene has no angst. We did have this band though. This was their best known song, and has one of my favorite lyrics of all time:

Fair. I just read that on Wiki as well. Obviously there there are a finite number of chord progressions, so similarities exist. To me the feel of Brain Stew is more similar to Chicago, beyond just the chords. We can agree to disagree.

As someone who thinks the 90's were weak I looked at one list and was not impressed,granted I have Collective Soul and Lenny Kravitz on my squad but already listened to them anyway.Everything else including all of my upcoming picks are in my own personal library.

 

It's all about when you grew up probably. I think the 90's were 100 times better than the 80's. But, I was in my late teens and early 20's during the 90's. Going to concerts all the time, etc. etc. I was a little kid for most of the 80's, so I was listening to NKOTB and crap.

I would absolutely agree with that when you grew up,hell I'm an old man but like to think I still have a good ear for music(sure it fits my tastes) but I'm always searching out new stuff(even if it's old) one of the reasons I'm checking out every song in this draft.My mrs (36C) will get in my Jeep and I'll have the newest Joe Bonamassa,Record Company,Greta Van Fleet etc. turned up and just shake her head,

My problem with much of 90s rock is that it just isnt very musical to me.

 

The overly fuzzed out constant hissing noise of the alternative sound is often annoying to me. Theres just no space for those songs to breathe.

 

And although there are a few I like and will draft some here, Im also not a huge rap fan.

 

The boy band craze was the final nail in the coffin.
