Dallas Cowboys 2018 & Beyond

I got the impression Dallas couldn't work the cap enough to bring cooks in.

Never forget, there's no such thing as a true salary cap in the NFL. Oh sure there's one on the books, but in name only. If a team really wants to sign a dude, there's countless tools at their disposal to free up cap space/money. Does that often mean going into cap jail and mortgaging the future, re-working huge deals and extending them down the road? Yes - but it's always very doable.

As far as Dallas, we're $8.5m under the cap now - even before any finagling...  Stephen is shoveling manure again, cap space had nothing to do with them passing on Cooks.

How do you not let Maher kick the field goal there?!?

oh if you miss it they get great field position? Well what happens when you don’t convert 4th and 4?

numb nuts.

Maher is on my fantasy team and I'm a Cowboys fan.  The announcer said Maher was making them from 60 out in pre-game.  Hate to see a loss there when it looked like Cowboys could/should win.

I've no issue with going for it on 4th down there.... In fact, it was the right call.

Rogers was rolling, had found his groove, 2 unanswered td passes in the 4th - no reason to think Dallas' D was stopping him from a game winning drive anyway. Factor in Dallas was actually moving the ball and driving for a score. The FG itself would have been 52 yards in the cold, not exactly a sure thing... The missed PI call on Lamb was killer tho - to get a holding on McGovern and not call that was ridiculous.

End of the day, we lost bcoz we (STILL) can't stop the run...and Dak threw 2 horrible picks too of course...  Idk how many more games it's gonna take Jerry wake up and finally address DT in the draft... Dallas gave this one away - focking terrible.

Sure, end of the day they lost because they blew a 14 point lead but I do not at all agree with going for it on 4th down there. 52 is not asking a lot of a good kicker. You make it, you kick off and you trust your supposedly good defense to make a play. If Rodgers keeps rolling you try to hold them to a field goal.

just don’t like 4th and 4 right there when I’m FG range.

My Boys are still not ready for prime time

As if M&M and Dak weren't bad enough today, where the fock was the defense? I don't recall anybody making a play other the DLaw in the 1st half.

Dak is not a champion, probably never will be

Totally the right call. You make the TD you win. You make the field goal and Rodgers does what Rodgers does, (meaning you lose).

It was amazing to watch Rodgers and Watson. Congratulations to the Packers and their fans.

When you are suppose to have the best defense in the league you take the points and let your D finish off the win usually.  I didn't care for going for it.

It’s the end of the world again in Dallas

Um, well yeah!

The boys have learned nothing from us fans that have been raising them for so many years

All our teams have goals, but sadly the Dallas Cowboys have NOT learned their lessons, and won't reach them until they do.

and No it's not Jerry's fault, he does the best that he can do in all decisions, the dude's a freaking legend!

we all make mistakes

* It was cold, the ball was not flying.

* Maher had no juice in his leg, his kickoffs were short all night long.

* That kick was into the breeze, even Crosby kicked a short ass dud into that same direction earlier.

* Rogers had not been stopped the entire 4th quarter, you don't hope and pray to get the ball back there.

* At 52 yards, into that wind, at that temp - your chances of making the conversion were better than a fg attempt.

It was absolutely the right call to go for it. A miss makes it even closer for GB to score.

I'm also sick and done witht the K. Moore experiment. I've been actually, this is not new.

That last 4th down call, sending everybody out deep - no bunch formation, no crossing pattern, no quick slant.

on that play, the receiver didn't work back to Dak. I see that a lot with Cowboy WR's, they look lazy, much like Amari Cooper did at the end.

The Dallas defense wasn't playing up to their press clippings in that game. Rodgers owns them either was, in my view, if they don't make the TD.

I thought the Cowboys got screwed on the PI no call at the end too.

Perhaps....but it was 4th and 4. Everyone and their grandmother knows you want the ball out quick and the best chance to get a guy open is traffic, crossing patterns or a quick slant.

K. Moore sent everyone out 10 yards and then some.

The missed PI on Lamb was terrible, could of changed the game..........but I'm not blaming the refs for that loss.

Up 14 pts with 15 minutes to go, with Pollard averaging 5.2 ypc and Davis 8 ypc - K. Moore opted to run the ball 6 whole times in the 4th qtr. :wall:

You'd think the Cowboys would know by now not to give Rodgers the ball and chances to come back on you, seen it over and over. To get shut out and not score even a fg in the 4th was unforgivable, flat out inexcusable. With #12 on the other sideline, you have to put that game away - and we didn't.

We win that game easily if Zeke plays.......I don't believe it would have gotten out of hand

The offense wasn't itself

What?

The offense hung 28 pts. thru 3 qtrs and Pollard and Davis were running at will. Pollard in fact had 22 carries and still averaged 5.2 ypc.... K. Moore killed the offensive momentum and K. Moore lost this game - not sure what Zeke does other than kill drives and take productive carries away from 3 guys running like crazy.

mostly because of familiarity, normalcy......plus his blocking and the one two punch of the backs.

I never get too high or too low on the Cowboys.  Hard team to ever read for me.  Dak seems like a good dude and he is a starter in this league....but he isn't very good.  Not sure what happened to the Cowboy defense.  GB does seem to own them but I was surprised by that game.  Watson has shown close to nothing as a real WR.  Then boom.

The Stars on Cowboys uniforms symbolize the Stars they tend to make out of average players. Seriously.....if I felt like taking the time I'd present a long list of "one hit wonders" through the years.

Right now and for the last few games the Cowboy D looks completely gassed and lacking confidence. I don't get it. I always expect them to tear it up after a bye week, but they almost always lose nowadays.

Also.....for the love of GOD, get the focking QB!!!

* and please somebody teach Diggs how to tackle as well as letting him know that's a large part of his job.

Disk the cowboys lose one of their starting D-backs during the game? Anyway, Sundays game should be a good one. One team will be questioning  themselves afterwards. I hope the Vikings give them all they have and Dallas is sucking wind on Thursday.

Man BG, I gotta admit - I don't get this sentiment at all.

The one thing this team hasn't missed in Zeke's absence is well...................Zeke. Two games gone and 2 games in which the run offense has flourished. All those saying Pollard couldn't carry the load, all those saying Pollard wasn't as good, they've all but vanished - gone poof like a fart in the wind. Take Horseman, that dude has up and Jimmy Hoffa'd it - actually went into hiding before the Bears game... With Pollard on a tear, averaging 9.2 and 5.2 ypg in back-to-back games, the running game isn't what cost them the GB loss.

Want to talk about pass blocking? No question Zeke is better - but Dak didn't get sacked at all Sunday bcoz of a missed Pollard block, in fact I don't recall the Bears exposing him either.

There's plenty of blame to go around for this loss - from penalties, poor execution, interceptions, K. Moore and run defense. Not a single one of them was the run game or rbs though.

All good points, I just really noticed a lacking of stability and options without him. Sure he under performs on a regular basis, but he contributes just the same. But wow, it's been years since he broke a tackle let alone hit a long home run, I don't get it.

Zeke just really isn't very good.   He has an old man's game and he isn't even 30 yet.  He is shop worn.  It happens to all RBs.  He got ran early and often.  Tires are bare.  Not sure what Jerry or some fans are holding on to.  I know he was a high pick and for some reason paid him.   But it is over.  Over the hill RB.

Yea I still don't get it. "Normalcy" has gotten us 27 years of futility, 27 years of even Championship games.

What has Zeke gotten you, what has Zeke given you that's put you over the hump, what is it Zeke has teams are scared of?

The 2nd best rb on the team is eating up $18m of our cap and taking carries away from the actual real threat and best rb on the team - how great would it be to have that $18m to spend on defensive run stoppers, a CB or another WR?

Pollard scares me more than Zeke. We’ll see next week. Last game they both played well, but Pollard was the one I worried about.

He and K. Moore - the two of them together is a death trap.

I still can't believe, up for 14 in the 4th - that idiot threw it all over the yard, only ran it 6 times..... I still can't believe, after watching Dak have HUGE success running the ball in earlier weeks, he ran it zero times in GB..... I still can't believe, on the cruicial 4th and 4 play, K. Moore didn't have a single crossing pattern, not a single bunch formation, not even a quick slant route called.

Dak has had a few lower body injuries. One major one. He’s not the same runner he was.

Nobody’s asking Dak to be Lamar Jackson, but anyone who’s seen Dak this year knows he perfectly capable of taking off and getting you valuable chain moving yards.

K. Moore called 5 run plays for Dak against CHI, that netted him 34 yards. Mean to tell me a guy getting almost 7 yards a pop can’t be counted on for a few called run plays a game? Sure he can.

True.......my problem with Dak is that he doesn't seem to have a Champion heart. Some QB's have it, others don't.
