Smileseers 54 Posted January 25, 2019 ...because after they have to pay Mahomes, they turn into the Packers. Is not the goal of any team to find an elite QB? Not every team turns into the Packers with a QB who gets paid. Under performing draft picks and poor drafting have the Packers where they are now as well as front office failures in free agent acquisitions. Having to pay an elite QB is a blessing, not a problem. Kansas City will compete IN the playoffs for years to come because they have Mahomes.

It's much easier to win when you have a good QB on a rookie contract. id also say that some of those high paid qbs are paid high after winning a super bowl, i mean flaco is a high paid qb but only entered that list after winning, that stat could be a bit misunderstood

Indy is a well built roster.......just wait until they add the cherries and whip cream, which they can afford Add Leveon Bell in free agency. And have a good draft. So they can stay young, cheap, talented, and hungry. Yup, damn scary good franchise right there.
listen2me 23 1,592 Posted January 25, 2019 The Packers 3rd and 4th biggest contracts last year were Cobb and Clay. The 2 guys they went after in FA. Mo Wilkerson played a few games before going on the IR. Jimmy Graham, wasnt very good and they didnt use him well in the redzone anyway. When you spend your other big money on players who give almost no return, you are in trouble. Packers are 16th in Cap going into the year. Bears are 25th and have a bum QB on a rookie deal. What is the point here? That you will have to pay Mahomes? Oh man thats some ground breaking stuff.

That bum QB was in a new offense and helped the Bears to a 12-4 record and a FG away from advancing in the playoffs. Time will tell. Looks like both Trubisky and Mahomes will be watching the SB this year. KC had a better o-line, a more experienced HC, a better TE, a better #1 WR, and a better run game than Chicago. Yet, Chicago still made the playoffs but they both are sitting at home. Go figure.

Sorry but I do disagree about going after Bell. Mack is a good one, they can use that one else where. They need WRs. Not a judgement about your statement, just a disagreement.

oldtimer 84 Posted February 1, 2019 Sorry but I do disagree about going after Bell. Mack is a good one, they can use that one else where. They need WRs. Not a judgement about your statement, just a disagreement. I agree with this. If you follow the Colts, they've made it clear the goal is to build via the draft. They will pick up necessary pieces via free agency, but they aren't overpaying for them. I don't know that Bell would fit in well with a young, ascending team. He would be awesome to watch behind their line, but they aren't giving him "Bell" money. As for the debate - Brady keeps showing up in the Superbowl, but he isn't typically in the highest paid grouping of QB's. I think he is sort of the key. A QB who makes his millions, yet doesn't demand to be the highest paid or have the most guarantees. Just an extra few million in cap space each season could be the difference between adding a difference maker or adding a role type player. If you have a highly paid QB, you better hit on most of your draft picks like the Colts did this past year. Green Bay's problem isn't what Rodgers is making. It has been their draft picks have not been very good. At all. I think all owners would love to have the "problem" of building around a highly paid franchise QB.
