You have the potential for a wonderful tale on day two in the big crapple

Honestly, I'm about ready to get out of here. It was a mistake to try to do a trip somewhere after 25 hours of travel. I'm focking exhausted. And this place, while nice as and having lots to do, is well richer than my blood. Looking forward to the flight home in a couple of days.

Yeah, hard to push it the first day after big travel.  I will either plan the down time into the trip or ...plan the activity up front and relax the second half. go hit some outdoor bistros, chill and people watch for a bit.

Imo, if you want to see people who are living in New York, go to Brooklyn. Manhattan these days seems to be filled with working people, students and tourists.

I woke up hungry arou d 4am today. Jet lagged. Decided to go get a slice. Ran into the two grossest hookers I've ever seen. At least I assume any chicks who approach me and ask if I want to hang with them at 4am are hookers.

Better not to assume any hookers you meet at 4am are chicks.

Love NYC. Great city.

What you’ve got in your opening post is about what I’d recommend.

Only other thing is do go to the top of One World Trade Center. The views are worth it and the experience is memorable.

I’ve never even made it to Central Park or the museums. That’s for the next trip. There’s so much to do there.

We just got back from Central Park. Damn nice. Good place to take kids or a chick. Wife loved it.

Nice. On my next trip I’m taking the kids and making that our focus. Along with the museums so they’ll be all cultured and sh1t.

Yeah. Since it's impossible to fly direct to Memphis anyway, I figured we'd break up the trip and see somewhere along the way. The absolute last thing I want to do after 20 hours of flying is get on another damn plane. It's been good. Fortunately the wife is a pretty leisurely traveler. We've got it down to a routine at this point.

Probably. We went more up into midtown today, and it was more a place where people actually live it seems. It is crazy how many different languages you hear just walking around here.

Man, these chicks would have had to pay me to fock, and it would not have been cheap. One was pushing three bills, the other was covered in tattoos. Hard focking pass.

I forgot to recommend the Plaza Hotel for lunch! I remembered it when you mentioned Central Park. The Plaza Hotel is posh but the Food Hall downstairs is completely affordable:

Don't forget to go to Chinatown! I ate at Vanessa's Dumplings. Omg! It was so good and so cheap! The only thing is that it's crowded and not much room to sit. We sat at the window. It's worth stopping by:

Yeah, he's probably dying for some good Chinese food

But this is Americanized Chinese food. I bet it tastes different. Plus, how interesting for him to go to Chinatown now that he lives in China.

Hard pass. I have absolutely zero interest in eating Asian food of any kind. And I've been to many cities in China, as well as Singapore Chinatown, Hong Kong, etc. I'm here to get away from that.

Skip the food in Chinatown but take your wife shopping on Canal St.  She'll love you long time after you buy her some cheap counterfeit stuff.  Plus, it's fun to watch them all scatter and quickly close up shop when they suspect they're about to be raided.

Little Italy's Mulberry St. is a couple blocks from there.  Walk over there and get something to eat

We are leaving in the morning. NYC time is over. We spent today doing a little shopping (she won't buy anything. Prices here are way too rich for her fillipino blood). Then we went to see John wick 3, as it wasn't available in China, and we both wanted to see it.

Still plenty of time.  It's only 4pm.  Get off yer ass!

She picked pretty woman, the musical. Not what I would have picked, but it was her call.

It was decent. The movie with a few songs thrown in.

She has little interest in shopping here. She loves to shop, but she does it cheap. On Chinese version of Amazon mostly. She never spends more than $50 on a garment. Ever.

I got lucky in that regard.

I appreciate the kind offer, but she seems inclined to chill and pack tonight, and since this city has absolutely curb stomped my wallet, I'm gonna let that inclination stand.

We also have luggage space issues. We have flights to Memphis, then China via LA. And cheap fakes are pretty common in China too.

If she's content not pissing away money, I'm not gonna argue with her. She's happy as a clam with her America trip so far. Not to mention, she will be in Vegas with my mother and sister soon. She can shop her little ass off while I don't have to stand and watch and can ay cards.

Between this and our Israel trip a few months back, she's got massive fillipina street cred going. I'm sure many of her sisters and friends are muttering that she's a stuck up b!tch or whatever. You know the wimmens.

One of her sisters said she could travel like us, but it's hard with kids. I replied, yeah, that's why we ain't got any.

So I gotta say one thing about America... I've been gone for a while, and one thing jumps out at me.

Holy fock are we a trashy looking bunch of people. Bunch of land whales covered in sh!tty tattoos dressed like focking buns everywhere you go.

We went to the theatre the other night. I knew better than coat and tie like I would in a real theatre, but fock. It was muffin tops and ink as far as the eye can see.

Summer in the city. Most NY'rs leave.

I know they aren't locals. But it's easy to tell the Americans from the foreigners. It's also easy to spot the locals. They tend to be dressed like they are going to work or yoga class rather than a tractor pull.

Yeah, I got that.

She actually doesn't like it when I buy her stuff.

I’d forgotten you were going to Vegas too.  Not exactly the best place to go if you’re looking to conserve cash.

Do you guys gamble?

She doesn't. Never has. I can't imagine in the slightest that she will decide to try now. She didn't when we went to Macau.

I may play a little hold em. That's about all I care to do. My dad will play a lot I'm sure. He spends almost every Saturday at the casino at home.

Lol, I was hoping to read something positive.

I'm curious how this impression holds up as you progress through the rest of the trip.

I can't imagine what we look like compared to the general public in a place like, say, Stockholm. It's gotta be majorly :ninja:

Well, today took a turn. Sitting in the airport waiting for our flight. Tried to call mom and dad several times to confirm airport pickup. Get no answer. Finally call my sister. Turns out mom got rushed to the hospital and into surgery with blood clots. So looks like I'm headed to the hospital as soon as we land.
