There was always a line between NYC and the most of the state.  Cuomo erased that line. Whole place is now subjected to what emanates from NYC. Plus the crime rates going up, up, up, up. I was there in February and it was great, as always. Went to the Met, Central Park, saw a bunch of shows (Jagged Little Pill is awesome), ate some great food, etc.

Living here is different.  While we dont have the highest income tax rates, we are close. But our school and property taxes are nuts.  A normal, 3 BR house within 150 miles of the city you’re paying around ten grand with just those taxes. Way more if your house costs.  And a Fockin fee for everything.

If you haven't been to some of the rural areas of CA, then you have no idea what the state has to offer. 

Places like Yosemite, the northern coast, etc. There are plenty of amazing places out here in CA that aren't cities.

It certainly seems like it is headed back to the mid 70's early 80's.  I was there in 2019, the first time since 2000.  I was around 55th and Broadway.  The increase in the number of bums and panhandlers was very surprising.  I still had a great time visiting.

I travel to Seattle frequently for work. Definitely know that city better than the ones I just visit occasionally.

Seattle does have a homeless problem as do many places. What do you propose be done about it? Sorry if you don’t like seeing them but that doesn’t mean they just disappear from the face of the earth

So, the politics of these more "cultural" cities bleed into the other areas. CA has a LOT of conservative voters, but when you look at the large blue cities (expensive, higher city and county taxes, higher homeless rates, shittting in the streets, tent cities, sanctuary cities) people are leaving in droves to the other areas, or other states. 

You can have your culture. I mean, what's getting a good meal and watching a play if you step in human feces on the way to your Uber?
