Yeah I know.  And lots are leaving.  This bill is directed at the idiots who don't move.  But if it passes it will just incentivize more to leave.

AOC came out and said it will hurt poor people who need baby formula, diapers etc. The proposal exempts all that. Starting to think she can’t be this stupid. As long as it appears she’s fighting for them it works. Even though she’s wrong about the subject. She’s just ingrains her brand on to the idiots at every turn. Marketing.

Was happening before Covid. High taxes, out of control liberals have taken over the whole state, not just the city. There was always a line between NYC and the most of the state.  Cuomo erased that line. Whole place is now subjected to what emanates from NYC. Plus the crime rates going up, up, up, up. To live in this town you must be tough , tough, tough. Rats on the west side, bed bugs, uptown. What a mess, this towns in tatters. I’ve been shattered. My brains been battered. Splattered. All over Manhattan. Go ahead, bite  the big Apple. Don’t mind the maggots.

I was there in February and it was great, as always. Went to the Met, Central Park, saw a bunch of shows (Jagged Little Pill is awesome), ate some great food, etc.

This is kind of like San Francisco/Los Angeles area compared to the rest of CA.

Cool. I’m not saying it’s Baltimore or Detroit. Yet. And we are talking about the whole city and state, not just the places you went.

Yeah, but in NY it was also about geography. The stupidity was just downstate forever. California has those two big cities and their surrounding areas.  We only had the one. You could get away.

Liberalism is a cancer that can't help but metastasize.

They shouldn't be allowed to move.

You mean the places with culture that are actually worth seeing? I mean go ahead and move to Bakersfield if it makes you feel warm and fuzzy but don’t expect anyone to visit :)

Living here is different.  While we dont have the highest income tax rates, we are close. But our school and property taxes are nuts.  A normal, 3 BR house within 150 miles of the city you’re paying around ten grand with just those taxes. Way more if your house costs.  And a Fockin fee for everything.

Yeah NYC is expensive. If it wasn’t you’d have 50 million instead of 10

If you haven't been to some of the rural areas of CA, then you have no idea what the state has to offer.

Places like Yosemite, the northern coast, etc. There are plenty of amazing places out here in CA that aren't cities.

It certainly seems like it is headed back to the mid 70's early 80's.  I was there in 2019, the first time since 2000.  I was around 55th and Broadway.  The increase in the number of bums and panhandlers was very surprising.  I still had a great time visiting.

It seems that a city's issues don't exist unless you see it personally while in town for a few days while on vacation.

I seem to recall a couple years ago you telling me that Seattle doesn't have a homeless problem because you didn't see anything wrong when you came here on vacation.

Perhaps I have the wrong geek? I apologize in advance if I have you confused with somebody else.

Culture?  Like poop on the streets, homeless living in campers in front of people's homes and businesses? That kind of culture.  🤣

Worms only needs convincing if the conservatives say something, and then he dismisses. But if a liberal rag says something, it the TRUFT.

Worms couldn't get a job in one of those cities.  The idiot had to take a job in bum fock Alaska out of college because no one else would hire him. Now he works for some small town law firm, assuming he's been telling us the truth all these years.  I still have serious doubts he even works in that field.

I travel to Seattle frequently for work. Definitely know that city better than the ones I just visit occasionally.

Seattle does have a homeless problem as do many places. What do you propose be done about it? Sorry if you don’t like seeing them but that doesn’t mean they just disappear from the face of the earth :dunno:

And infecting the other states. Then try to change the state into how it was where they left which in turn destroys that state

Oh, so now you do admit that there is a homeless problem since you "definitely know that city better than others"???

You were pretty adamant that there wasn't one just a couple years ago.  I recall your same cavalier "I was just there and it's not a problem" statement as the one you made about NYC in this thread.  What changed your opinion to make you admit it now?

Oh, I thought we were talking culture.

So, the politics of these more "cultural" cities bleed into the other areas. CA has a LOT of conservative voters, but when you look at the large blue cities (expensive, higher city and county taxes, higher homeless rates, shittting in the streets, tent cities, sanctuary cities) people are leaving in droves to the other areas, or other states.

You can have your culture. I mean, what's getting a good meal and watching a play if you step in human feces on the way to your Uber?

IIRC you guys were making it sound like the whole damn city was being destroyed. No, that’s a massive overreaction. It’s an issue. All places have issues.

Yep. Just a massive overreaction. But hey, you know this city (and others) better than folks that live and work there and see it daily.

When the issue requires an app to report human chit on the street, it’s more than an issue.

I know plenty of people that live there and agree with me. I know one lady that’s in agreement with you but she’s a very angry right wing reactionary. Seems to be a common theme :)

Cities are trash.  People crap in the street.   It takes 2 hours to drive 10 miles.  It is expensive.  The rich people are crazy.  The poor people are insane.  Hipsters galore.

I dont get the appeal.
