Brandi Buchman, who I believe is an independent journalist, live tweeted from the courtroom where both Dominic Pezzola and Eathan Nordean received their sentances today.

There were some truly human and heartbreaking moments when the families of the defendants made their pleas to the judge for mercy on their father/husband. Its emotional stuff and shows the real, lasting damage done by those who had a role, weather a selfish role, or a stupid role, in the J6 nightmare.

I’m not going to highlight much of her thread, but I will link a small section when Pezzolas two daughters and his wife made their statements in court. For me, when I was reading it, I had empathy for the defendant.

Family Statements

Pezzola: Now for the first time I messed up and i let the people who care and depend on me the most, down.

He addresses his eldest daughter who couldnt be here today…

Pezzola: Words could not express the pain and failure I feel towards you. i've missed so much of your life these last few years... missed your journey as a young woman in this world. I pray for the courts mercy to be there for you in the future.

Pezzola addresses his youngest daughter: you've always been a daddy's girl and my heart is heavy with regret for not being there for you anymore. he sniffs.

Lisa Magee, Pezzola's wife delivers a very emotional statement to court. She is immediately crying when she approaches the podium; through her tears, she says: In no way am I making excuses for Dominic's actions that day. As I said on the stand, he's a focking idiot"

Angelina Pezzola, 19, now speaking. She gestures to her father and says, Your honor, look at my father. Look at me, she says. I am everything good that my father has done. I'm a college student, scientist, never got in trouble, i dont do drugs, drnk, he's contributed to all that.

Angelina Pezzola: Please have mercy on him judge, that's all i ask. she waves to him as she walks past him.

 

So yes, I found myself with empathy for Pazzola…

But that empathy changed to anger and deep sorrow for his family, when Pazzola’s had one final thing to say…

Pezzola: I stand before you with a heart full of regret. He has regret for actions at capitol.

He adds: There is no place in my future for groups or politics whatsoever.

NOW: As Pezzola walks out of the courtroom, he pumps his fist in the ar and shouts "Trump won!"

 

In the end, Pazzola got ten years.

Nordean got 18 years. He destroyed his family too.

Trump world has hundreds of pending cases defending countless felonies…
