What’s the big deal if the parents want it gone? What’s so special about that particular book? Probably nothing. It’s easy enough to find non offensive material. Do your Fockin job

I don't think that's really the point.  It's more about censoring.  I would think this goes against the values that stout conservatives have.

No.  You know that though.  A great book that may have one explicit page in it should not be banned but obviously Fifty Shades of Gray would not be appropriate for 8th graders.  We can use a little common sense here.

That’s what I’m using. It shouldn’t be hard to find a few books that wouldn’t offend anyone. It wasnt an issue when I was growing up. And if the teacher is too stupid, lazy or has an ideological motive then they can get a different job. It’s not about them. HTH.

You're right.  There's nothing different between an obscene book in a government funded public school and people's private homes where they have full choice of what happens there.

Horrible thread title.  Nobody is for banning books in general society or burning books.

Any logical person knows a school should have AGE APPROPRIATE MATERIAL in its library or curriculum.  
 

Deep thought provoking, intense, sexual books shouldn’t be in elementary school.  On the flip side H.S. students shouldn’t have Thomas the Train goes to Camp in their library either.

Yeah I think it gets into the valid argument of what type of content is OK for children and how it’s distributed/context.

Probably the book I had to read because a parent objected to it in our high school. I saw it was banned in middle schools across the country. It probably shouldn't be in a middle school. But in a high school library. Sure.

A lot of this is false flag stuff.

People are objecting to the racism stuff in the book (the book I had to read has a lot of racist stuff as it is based around the time of the New London School explosion. Lots of "n word" and white people looking to lynch a black family). But if they say "I object to the racism stuff" they are called racists. So they find one passage in the book- in this one there is a reference to sticking it in a girl's "cornhole" which is an old reference to anal sex. So they object to that thinking "Of course everyone will agree with that" and then schools ban it and it's gone.

Here’s the beauty of it. You can teach your dumb ass kids to hate them selves all on their own at your home if you want to. Nothing is preventing you from guilting your kids into crap that they had nothing to do with. It’s completely bizarre to me to inject some sort of white guilt into something you have no part in.

Do you want to teach about historical things that happened in the past? Perfect. No problem. What the liberal nut jobs want to do is have you view minorities as a tragedy currently. And instead of feeling guilty all it’s going to do is make kids grow up seeing them as a tragic figure. And for god sake‘s minority should oppose this every chance they get.
